august wrap up

hello everyone! today i’m going to be talking about all the books i read in august. i honestly really read a bunch of good books, and i honestly read my favorite book of the year this month, which also put me in a reading slump. but, i honestly really liked so many of these books.

if the shoe fits by julie murphy. i gave this book 4/5 stars. first off, thank you so much for disney books and netgalley for an arc of this book! this was honestly a really good book, and i honestly found this book was just something that i really liked and that i think it was such a cute book and plot. especially since they had the bachelor aspect and that cindy was plus sized and also a couple of queer characters.

the dead and the dark by courtney gould. i gave this book 3/5 stars. first off, thank you so much wednesday books and netgalley for an arc of this book. but, this was kind of boring, but it still had plot which i think was decent. and i feel like this plot was honestly kind of a mess. and also that i feel like the plot was all over the place and that the mystery plot was kind of a mess. but, i do feel like that there was just some little issues in this book that i feel like it could have been changed a little bit.

as good as dead by holly jackson. i gave this book 5/5 stars. this book is honestly one of the best books i’ll ever read in my life. like, this was such a book that i’ll literally never forget and that will stick with me for a very long time. and i honestly didn’t expect the ending to be so sad and heartbreaking, since i feel like that this was just such a great book. and i mean, i really liked how this story was just so cool that it tied this whole story in full circle, which was just so amazing.

mine till midnight by lisa kleypas. i gave this book 5/5 stars. i honestly really liked this book so much. like, it was just so cool to see this book and this romance. and also just to see the family and how they were just so cool and that i think they were just so fun and cool. like, i think the family aspect was just so fun, and i honestly can’t wait to read the other books in this series and kleypas’ other books.

left to tell by immaculee ilibagiza. i honestly didn’t really care for this book, mainly because this book was just for school. and i mean, i think that some of this book was just so preachy, and i feel like that this book was honestly very holy roller, which kind of pissed me off.

lost in the never woods by aideen thomas. i gave this book 3/5 stars. this was honestly a good book, and i think that it was a good book, but i do feel like it was just missing something and that something was just boring and kind of stupid. but, i do feel like that this book had moments that i just forget so much of it, and also that it was just all over the place. and i just feel like they should have stuck to the mystery plot instead of this romance.

the collectors by lorien lawrence. i gave this book 4/5 stars. thank you so much netgalley and amulet books for an arc of this book! i honestly really liked this book and i feel like it was just so cool and honestly very lighthearted and kind of fun. but, i feel like there should have been more plot, but i guess that this book is for middle grade, so i kind of expected. and it really gave me big fear street and goosebumps vibes, which i honestly really liked.

we can’t keep meeting like this by rachel lynn solomon. i gave this book 2/5 stars. this book honestly had so much potential, and i mean, i really think that this should be so good and just so fun. but, i feel like this book was so boring and that they just argued so much that it became annoying. like, they were honestly so toxic and i really didn’t like it at all. and i feel like they were just so annoying and the main character also kind of annoyed me.

56 days by catherine ryan howard. i gave this book 4/5 stars. thank you for an arc blackstone publishing and netgalley. i honestly did really enjoy this book and the covid aspect of this book. but, i also really liked the romance between the two, but i do wish that we got to see more of them together and just more of their romance. but, i do feel like that they didn’t have that much closure to the story and that they didn’t have to much of an ending, which i honestly think sucked.

survive the night by riley sager. i gave this book 5/5 stars. i honestly really loved this book. like, i feel like the ending was just so cool and i think it was just done so well. but, i do feel like the romance was just so weird, and i mean, i think it was kind of weird. but, this book was honestly so addicting, which i honestly liked so much. and i mean, i feel like this book really was so cool and how they tied in the movie aspect into all of this.

kill joy by holly jackson. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i did like this book a lot, but i feel like it was just a weird book because it was the prequel to the agggtm books, so i feel like some of the characters didn’t feel like themselves. but, i do really liked that we got to see pip before she was pip and that we got to see her become who she is today. and also to see her figure out what she wanted to do for her epq project was so cool, since they never really said how she picked the topic.

it’s in his kiss by julia quinn. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i honestly did like this book a lot, but i do feel like that there was some points in this book that i just didn’t like it at all. like, i feel like gareth was just kind of possessive at some times, like where he said that he owned hyacinth and just random things that i just didn’t like. and i did really like the steamy scenes, and i think it was just so good.

it’s in his kiss: the second epilogue by julia quinn. i gave this book 3/5 stars. i honestly liked this book, but i just don’t understand why isabella just didn’t give her parents the jewels. but, it was a nice way to wrap up their story.

anyway, that is all for today! i honestly read so many good books this month, and i really liked it. and i mean, i feel like that it was just so cool to read so many of these good months this month, so i honestly hope september is that good too.
