july wrap up

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books i read this month. honestly, i had such a good reading month, and i honestly hope august is just as good since i have a lot of books i still want to read some of these.

just like heaven by julia quinn. i gave this book 5/5 stars. i honestly loved this book so much and i honestly love marcus and honoria so much and they were just so cute together. and i honestly really loved the whole brother’s best friend plot line, and i just think that this book was done so well.

the girl in the headlines by hannah jayne. i gave this book 3/5 stars. first off, thank you so much for an arc! this book was honestly so stupid and i honestly hated the plot and the characters, and i just feel like this book was just not good, compared to some of the other ya mysteries. but, i do feel like the only good part of this book was that it was a very quick read, and honestly was very mindless.

yolk by mary hk choi. i gave this book 4/5 stars. honestly, i’m not sure what i expected for this book, but i thought that this book was about a bank robbery, and i honestly have no clue where i got that from, but, i mean, this was still a good book. and i think that it was a decent book, but also that i feel like there was so many plots going on in this book, instead of just the cancer plot or something.

one last stop by casey mcquiston. i gave this book 2/5 stars. this book was honestly so disappointing, and i think that this book had so much potential but i feel like the paragraphs and chapter were just so big it honestly took so much away from the story. and i think the chapters were just so boring and that it made this story such a drag to get through. but, i do think the romance was still good, and i still liked that part at least.

the therapist by BA Paris. i gave this book 2/5 stars. first off, thank you so much for an arc of this book! i honestly didn’t really care for this book at all. like i feel like the main character lacked so much and was just plain stupid for most of this book and i think it was just so annoying and just pissed me off honestly. and i also like that so much of this book just didn’t make sense and the author really didn’t think some of this all threw.

life’s too short by abby jimenez. i gave this book 5/5 stars. this book was honestly so amazing, and i completely love this book and the characters and the plot so much. like, i honestly loved the romance and how much the two characters cared about each other and it honestly felt like they got to know each other in such a short about of time. and it was such an adorable story, which was so amazing.

between perfect and real by ray stoeve. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i honestly liked this book, but i do feel like that this book was honestly good and it was a decent story and i liked the journey that dean went through for this story and the message it told. but, i mean, something just felt off for this story, and something was missing. like, i feel like it should have just been longer.

a good girl’s guide to murder by Holly Jackson. i gave this book 5/5 stars. this is my fourth reread. honestly, this book was just so good and i honestly loved this story so much again. and i honestly loved ravi and pip so much more this time and they are honestly so cute together.

kate in waiting by Becky Albertalli. i gave this book 2/5 stars. honestly this book had so much potential, and i honestly really wished i liked this book, and i think that a lot of this audio book did take away from this book, since the narrators voice was just so annoying. but, i feel like this book was boring and that not a lot happened, which just pissed me off.

an emotion of great delight by tahereh mafi. i gave this book 3/5 stars. i personally really liked this book and i really liked the plot and what it told and tried to teach us. but, i feel like there was just so much time where the plot was literally all over the place and that i feel like this book just didn’t have that much plot and that it was just so all over the place.

good girl, bad blood by holly jackson. i gave this book 5/5 stars. this is also my 4th reread. honestly, i loved this book so much, obviously. and i think that this book is so good and i honestly loved seeing ravi and pip in here again. and i honestly really liked ravi’s weird humor and how he was trying to be funny in here.

she drives me crazy by kelly quindlen. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i honestly thought that this book was so good and that they were so cute with the enemies to lovers and fake dating, i thought it was just so cool. but, i do feel like that there should have been more parts of them actually together as a couple and not just fake dating and/or fighting.

the soulmate equation by christina lauren. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i honestly thought that this book was really good, but not my favorite one of them. and i feel like the science and math talk was a bit to much at some times, since i literally understood like none of it. but, i do think jess and river do have a really cute romance, which was cute to read about.

anyway, that is all for today! i honestly had a good reading month and i honestly read so many good books this month, plus reread some that i really wanted to reread before the final book. and i honestly hope that i have this good of a reading month next month.

honestly, this was such a good and beautiful and heartbreaking story. like, i never really expected this book to be so heartbreaking as it was, like i expected it to be heartbreaking since it is of course the titanic, so i expected it to be something. and i mean, i think this was just so cool because i feel like we don’t get to many titanic YA stories that aren’t non fiction. and i mean, i feel like this story was just so much of a fun take on this story and that it was really cool.

and i also loved the brother / sister bond in this story. like, it was honestly just so cool and i really liked to see them figure out their relationship and have them to do their thing and to figure out where they stand in their relationship. and also just to have them be twins honestly made them have more of a bond, which i think was so cool. and they also weren’t the most happy and well off siblings, cause they still had their issues and that they had their fights and different things like that. but, i also liked that they were in the circus, which i feel was so cool and made it so much fun.

but, i also really liked the found family vibe from this story. like, i feel like it was so cool to see jamie get closer to these men off the page, since they all work together, and than to watch val slowly getting closer to the men in then becoming this small little family. and i mean it was so cool to see them bond together and them to become this group. and that they all kind of fought and got on each others nerves, but they still were this little found family unit.

with that being said, i feel like this book didn’t have to much plot in this book. like, i feel that there was the whole plot about them on the titanic, which is a given in this book. like, i feel that this story was more focused on the found family aspect of it and that there was more time building up they characters and their personality, which i thought was still super cool. but, i feel like once the boat starts sinking, so maybe like the last 20% we got more of the plot of them doing their thing. so, i feel like if you want a more character heavy plot, this one is the right one for you.

but, i also feel like this book is very slow burning kind of plot. like, i mean, there isn’t to much plot to this story, and i feel like the plot though is very slow burning in away. like, i feel like there was a lot of build up to this titanic, but than i feel like the actual sinking was kind of not a lot of the plot. which, i feel like it was decent, but i mean, i feel like the sinking took like five seconds compared to the rest of the book.

and like, i feel like this book had all of this build up to the end of the book. like, i mean, i don’t like it’s a spoiler that the boat sinks, and i’ve also said it like five times. and i feel like the end of this book it had these plots about how it wasn’t the stereotypical version, and i feel like it was just really cool to not have it be all sunshine and rainbows, even if they all end in tragedy.

i also kind of liked that this book was all about grief and loss. like, not just because the titanic obviously sank, and their obviously a lot of grief there, but i feel like that getting plot about their mother and father who both died. and i mean, i do wish that we went a little more into that as a whole, but i still think seeing more grief than the one that was obviously in our face, i think it was honestly kind of good. and i feel like having more than one grief honestly made me like this so much more. and i also feel like the parents in this book honestly made this story really work, since i mean, if they didn’t die, i feel like it was so cool to see them really push them together, even if they are dead.

anyway, that is all for today! i honestly really liked this book and i thought this book was honestly really good and i honestly really liked the plot and everything with this book and i honestly am kind of excited to read more books by the author since i feel like it was just so good. and that it honestly just sounds so good, and also the research was just so amazing.

fat chance, charlie vega review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about fat chance charlie vega by Crystal Maldonado. i gave this book 3/5 stars. i honestly didn’t really like this book, but i do think it was kind of decent, and i feel like this book could be the right book for someone, but i don’t think it was the best book in my mind.

trigger warning- fatphobia, body shaming, bullying, eating disorder, toxic relationship, grief, death of a parent, toxic friendship, emotional abuse, racism, sexual content.

honestly, one thing that i honestly really didn’t like of this book was that the audio book of this book sucked. like, i feel like the quality and the book and also that the production value was literally terrible. like, it honestly sucked and that there was all of these weird silent moments, and that the narrator just stopped talking, and than started talking really soft, so you would get this weird slow white noise and it honestly sucked which just took away from this book so much. and i honestly just feel like this just took way so much from the book.

but, i feel like i do feel like charlie was a little bit naive at some parts, but overall i did like the growth that she went through. and also like that she really has all these moments were she did grow and like became more self acceptant about her body and that she doesn’t let her mom or friend to tell her she should do with her body. and i mean, seeing her go through all of that and that she got to be more confident, which i honestly really liked.

and i also kind of liked to see the relationship between charlie and her mom. like, i feel like in YA books, the parents are always dead or like completely MIA for the whole book or they are super nice and helpful. so, to kind of see this middle ground in here, i really liked. and i honestly really liked to see her mom be difficult, and also like to see them drifting apart and all of that. and also just to see her mother make comments over and over again about her weight.

i also really liked seeing charlie get more and more confident over the book. like, i feel like there are so many books where the main characters are fat, but they aren’t the most confident about their bodies, or they have this motive about that they want to loose weight. but, i do like that we got to see charlie be very confident and to see her be confident about her body and that she doesn’t listen to the crap her mother tells her, like all of the shakes and the bad comments.

but, i will say, i do feel like charlie did annoy the hell out of me at some points. like, i feel like she was that person, one that we might all know, is that she always cared about herself and didn’t really care what was going on with her friends and that she was so into her life and that she didn’t really care about her friends. like, i feel that she was so caught up with all of her things, that amelia would talk about things and than charlie would be like ‘well yeah anyway this is happening to me.’ and it honestly just annoyed me so much and that charlie was so annoying.

besides that, i did like there relationship. like, i feel like they were honestly really cool and i really liked seeing them together was honestly kind of cute. and i feel like that they were honestly so cool to see amelia support charlie together, it was honestly really cool. and plus, i do feel like it was cool to see them not have always all these cute moments, and still have the harder moments. and i think it was cool because they were honestly just so realistic.

but, i do think that the writer of this book was so bad. like, i guess it’s just YA books in general that these adults don’t know how real teenagers talk and act, and that we just don’t say things like, shrug emoji, in real life. which, honestly got on my nerves. like, i really didn’t care about the writing since it was honestly just so cringey, and that it didn’t work. and also the author also talked in like ‘tbh’ and ‘lmao’ in the speaking parts, and not just in the text messages or something. so it honestly annoyed me so much.

there also was quite a bit of these ranty paragraphs about random things charlie thought about. like, for one, i found it all to be very telling not showing, but also it was also like the whole author doesn’t know how teenagers work kinda thing. but, it was just so weird cause we would get a play by play of everything, and not being kind of bouncey with what it came to when what they told us.

and at parts it also felt a bit to mature. like, i’m not quite sure this is going to make complete sense, but i feel like they would have these parts were charlie would do something or act a certain way that it just didn’t make sense in the content of the book. like, and i think those are mainly the ones with the body image parts, it just didn’t feel like away a teenager would talk about it all.

i also feel like we never got a resolution to the drama between charlie and her mom. like, i mean, i guess they did eat ‘actual food’ together, and in away i guess that can be the resolution. but, it still wasn’t the resolution i would have wanted, with like them agreeing not to push the shakes and maybe work out together, like they kind of did at the end, like three times a week or whatever. but, i really just wanted something more that we can pin point it being the resolution.

anyway, that is all for today! i honestly did enjoy this book a little bit, nowhere thinking this is one of the better books i’ve read. but, i still like the message that it puts across. and that it overall was a pretty decent story. but, i mean, i think the terrible audiobook took a lot away from this story.

the intimacy experiment review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the intimacy experiment by rosie danan. i gave this book 3/5 stars. i honestly wished i liked this book, since i honestly loved the first book, but this one just was not it, and honestly just kind of boring and that the characters had zero chemistry in my mind, which honestly made me not like this one.

trigger warning- sexual content, misogyny, sexism, antisemitism, bullying, death of a parent, biphobia, violence, cancer.

i’m going to be completely honest, like i honestly love the roommate, like josh and clara are some of my favorite romantic characters, so i kind of had high expatiations for this book. but, i feel like josh and clara had such great chemistry, so i thought naomi and ethan would have the same thing. but, i feel like naomi and ethan had literally no chemistry. like, they honestly felt just off and that they didn’t have that click that most characters have. and like i feel like they just didn’t work in the way that i think they should and also just have been better and not so like, boring and have better romance.

and like i feel like josh and clara would make these little comments about how amazing and how they were so cute together. but, i feel like we never got to see it. like, to a degree, i do wish they could have didn’t bring up some of the more boring plot points, and just focus on them actually getting together and having those cliche, and ultimately have those cuter moments together. and i mean, i feel like they should have just focused on that more than they did.

but, i also think that the pacing of this book was also kind of messed up. like, i feel like there was just a bit of a mess. like, you can tell that danan had this idea there for this book, and i do feel like it was a decent idea. but, with the pacing of the book it just didn’t work. like, i feel like they built these characters and plot up, which is good, but instead of talking about them they honestly just kind of spent more times talking about random things that honestly were not important to the plot. and i feel like we spent all this time focusing on this random crap that wasn’t even important to the book, and more importantly, the romance.

and this might just be me, but i feel like book one was very very sexual. like, and like i feel like we always got talk about how josh and clara were talking about sex, having sex, or even like showing each other something. so, like the roommate really centered about sex and pleasure. and i honestly really expected this book to be very sexual and to have a lot of conversations about sex. which, i feel like this book had zero things about sex and pleasure and different things like this. and i mean, for one, naomi and ethan don’t have sex till like 80 ish %, and they only like kiss at like 60% or something, which i just did not expect and really took away from this book. and like also if it was a religious reason, which i could see in this book, it would make complete sense, but they never gave a reason like that.

with that being said, i also feel like danan completely changed naomi as a character. like, in the first book they always talked about how naomi was a very sexual person, and that they always talked about her sex life. and even if they don’t say it, you can just kind of see by the way she talked and the way she talked to different people. hell, they kind of say that josh, clara, and naomi had a threesome, granted it’s not on page, but they still kind of bring it up. so, i honestly kind of expected to see her to do her thing with the sex plot in here, or at least have her be a very sexual person, and talk about it. and with that being said, i think it was kind of weird that she never like masturbated while thinking about ethan, especially when it was pre sex, since i feel like it would fit so well in this series, and book.

but, i honestly really liked ethan as a character. like, i feel like he was honestly such a sweet and kind of cinnamon roll character, which i really liked. and i feel like he was such a sweet and amazing character. and i really liked to see the point when he asked her what she wanted in bed, and what he could do for her, since i think it was honestly was such a wholesome moment, especially if you read book one and you can tie it all together.

i also honestly liked the plots about Judaism. like, i feel like most romance books will say, oh yeah their Jewish, but than they never really bring it up again and never really practice it. so, i feel like it was honestly really cool to see Naomi get back into her faith and to have her get over her past and to dive deeper into her past and to see why her faith was kind of messed up. which, was honestly such a good part of this book. and just to see ethan as this young and fresh rabbi and also a bachelor was such a good point. and just to see people not liking them together.

but, i also think that there should have had more moments of josh and clara in this book. like, naomi was a pretty big character in their book, so i kind of expected to see them a lot in here, and to see them do their thing as a group, and maybe even get the threesome scene. and also they completely glossed over josh and clara’s wedding, which i think they should have honestly talked about, and have ethan and naomi have some cute wedding moments, and maybe even have sex in the bathroom or something spicy.

anyway, that is all for today! i honestly wish i liked this book, since the first book was so good, and i feel like this book could have been just as spicy and enjoyable like the first one. but, i do think that this did have some good qualities, and i’m still pretty excited to see what danan writes in the future.

when he was wicked review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about when he was wicked by julia quinn. i gave this book 5/5 stars. i honestly really loved this book and all the plot and their little romance, and especially how michael was so in love with his cousins wife, it was just such a cute and steamy book.

trigger warnings- sexual content, death, miscarriage, infertility, grief, blood, pregnancy.

first thing first, i will say that francesca was a bit of a headache. like, she was honestly just kind of frustrating to read about. i mean, i did feel bad for her, since she is young and lost her husband, and the whole pregnancy plot line. but, i feel like her attitude and mood towards michael was just so annoying. like, it was honestly just kind of easy to figure out that michael was in love with frannie, and i mean he even said things that he loved her, and she was like very back and forth.

but, i did honestly really like michael, like he was such a pure character and that he was just so loyal and caring and cute character. like, it was just so amazing to see how much he loved frannie, even thought it was honestly very sad. and i mean, i loved that he had that mentality that he would wait for her as long as she needed, which i thought was so cute. but, i don’t know why they labeled him as this big Rake, cause i feel like more girls wanted him than he wanted them.

as a whole, i will say that i think these characters are honestly so well done. like, i really liked to see them and that they all were very complex and just like very well described, and i mean, i think we knew like everything about them, and that they were like full circle. and also these characters were so well written and that they really were so amazing.

also, the sex scenes were honestly so amazing. like, it was honestly just so sweet and one of these sex scenes that are more about how much they actually loved each other, than something that was more lust. but, i still really liked the two of them in these scenes and it was honestly one of the more steamy scenes in this series, which i honestly really liked.

but, i also really liked the grief and the loss aspect of this book. like, i feel like in this series we got characters mourning the death of characters, especially anthony with his dad, but that was in the past so it was kind of over and done with. but, with this, i really liked that the death happened very recently and we get a complete play by play of the death and how it effected them, unlike with phillip which was kind of glossed over. and i mean, this book has all the topics about grief in it, and it’s not some light version of with the guilt and the pain and everything else that gets with someone you love, especially your husband, dying. like, this book had all the stages of grief which i loved so much.

and with the plot about the grief, it still had a cute and funny moments. like, i feel like there was still moments in this book were it was still so adorable and just funny, especially as they got more into the romance, it was just so cute and funny. and i feel like the harder moments get balanced than with the lighter moments, which i think is so cool and i really liked. and i think it was just so well done and honestly made me so happy.

i also really liked the writing. like, i feel like everything about this book was so well written and that it had so many adorable moments. and i think it was just so amazing. and everything flowed so well, which i really liked and that it was honestly kind of poetic and also just so beautiful, which i really liked. and i think quinn did such a good job with having the plot and the writing go together so well, which i honestly loved so much.

but, this also had the plot about the man pining for the girl, which i honestly thought was so cute and i honestly think it made this book so much better. and this whole trope was just done so amazing, which i know i said a lot. but, i mean, i do think frannie was a bit of a bitch about it all, but i still honestly really liked this book and that we got to see them kind of fight their attraction to each other.

also, i do really liked that we got to see frannie never seeing michael in a romantic way till he died, and also that michael never moved on any of it when he was still alive. but, also i do think it was so cool to see frannie be so in love with her husband and that they were just never hook up or anything. and i thought it was so cool to see them not do anything and also that she knew he was a Rake but she never did anything about it and didn’t take it as a threat or anything. but, also that she held out getting married till he came back from india, i believe, which i think was just so cute.

when he was wicked second epilogue:

trigger warning- infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy

so i gave this book 5/5 stars. i honestly really liked this book and i honestly thought it was such a cute ending to this story. and that we got to see another happily ever after, like to see them have their kids and to be happy and just to see them have these domestic moments together, which i honestly really liked. and it was honestly such a cute book and i honestly loved it so much.

anyway, that is all for today! i honestly really liked these books and i honestly thought that these books were so well done and they honestly just were some of the cutest characters, and probably some of the best ones in the bridgerton series.

the mary shelley club review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the mary shelley club by goldy moldavsky. i gave this book 5/5 stars. i honestly loved this book so much, mainly because of the really big scream and like the whole old slasher horror movie vibes it gave off, which i think was just so cool.

trigger warnings- death, murder, violence, bullying, blood, stalking, panic attacks / disorders, kidnapping, gore, sexual assault, confinement, drug use, emotional abuse, mental illness, physical abuse, torture, toxic relationship, gaslight, alcoholism.

one thing i wish we got in this book was that we got to see more plot about rachel going through the motion of getting over and recovering from the masked attackers in the house. like, i feel like they had this plot about her having bad dreams and not wanting to stay home alone, but i wish that we just had more and that they brought the ptsd aspect into this book more than it was.

though, i do like the plot about rachel trying to get over her trauma with horror movies. it honestly was something that you wouldn’t think to do, and even try to come over it all. but, i do think that seeing her actually get over it all after this all happened. and just to see her watch the movies, which helped her and it was just so cool.

but, i honestly really liked the fear tests in this book. like, it was just such a fun and cool way to scare someone with things that they don’t like and when they don’t expect it. granted, i’m not to sure why rachel would want to do it when she went through everything she did before, but, i honestly think it was just so cool to see them all work together and find these cool ways to scare the life out of someone.

i also really like the plot about how they did their fear test in the start of the book. like, it was honestly really cool to see it play out before rachel came in and than how they did something about how the popular girl got scared and than what happened after it all. an just to see rachel go after the group and to find out who did it and also how she actually found the group and how they did their own thing when they say each other.

and like i really liked how we got to see this whole secret society. like, i do feel like there is a lot of books with this whole secret society, but some of them were not good, and that they just don’t have a good plot and writing, and i feel like it is harder to find a good YA version. but, i honestly really liked this and to see how they had this plot with the secret society and the rules about them not being able to talk to each other in the hallway and that it was just so cool to read all of this.

and it was also so cool that throughout this book they would for one, watch different horror movies together, and have this ‘book club’ about these movies, which was just super cool to see them doing it all. but, also just to see them make little references throughout the book about some movie or talk about different things together. and it was honestly just so cool and i really liked to see them do their little movie things throughout the story.

and also to have them kind of based their fear tests on these tropes they watch in the movies, it was so cool. like, i feel like they were honestly so cool that these fear tests had these plot about them and how they all worked together hand in hand. and i feel like making them scream and them kind of take these targets and than work together and use the common tropes, which was honestly so crazy.

but, i also really liked rachel as a main characters. like, i feel like she was one of those characters that are just so easy to read and that they just drawn you in and bring you into the story more. and also just to see her relationship grown with the friends, was just so cool and i feel like rachel is a very likeable person, even if she had somethings happen in the start of the book. and i feel like she honestly made this story so much better, but i really liked her and that she was so amazing. and like she was just so strong and that she was so bad ass and amazing.

there was also so many twists and turn in this book, which was just so amazing. and i honestly loved them and that they all were just so cool since they weren’t the easiest to work out or even to see them coming. i honestly really loved it and that it worked out and just to watch these come out throughout the whole book. and that they were so well thought out and weren’t something that was just a mess and that they all were just so cool and that is something i honestly really loved to read that plot.

and i also thought it was just so cool that we got to see the fear tests in 3rd person. like, it was just so cool that there was this plot about these fear tests and that we actually got to see them, which was just so cool. since, i feel like if it was just in rachel’s pov, it wouldn’t work. and just that they were all in 3rd, it was so cool. since, we got to see the build up with rachel’s pov, and than it went into 3rd when that person had their build up and a little bit of plot before, and than they had the fear test and than the build down after it all. and i thought it was just so cool.

anyway, that is all for today! i honestly really liked this book and that this was just so cool and very interesting book in this book. and i mean, i really liked it and i honestly am kind of excited to read whatever the author writes in the future.

the girls i’ve been review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the girls i’ve been by tess sharpe. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i honestly really liked this book, but i do feel like there are some parts of this book that i just didn’t like and i mean, i do think it was still a good book and i mean, i still can’t wait for this to become a movie.

trigger warnings- child abuse, emotional abuse, domestic abuse, physical abuse, violence, gun violence, sexual assault, blood, kidnapping, murder, pedophilia, toxic relationship, death, confinement, sexual assault, rape, medical content, gore, abortion, fire / fire injury, mental illness, vomit, grief, bullying, cursing, drug use, periods.

i honestly haven’t read to many survival stories, and this is probably my first big one. so, i don’t really have anything to compare it too. but, i mean, it was honestly so cool that it was this survival story about how they are being held captive, and to see what and how they can survive and how they can try and survive and not get hurt or die. and i honestly really liked it, and that we got to see this plot with them trying to survive in the bank and have this whole story that unfolds so well.

but, i honestly didn’t really like all of the back story that we got. like, feel like some of it was just so boring, and they would say something in the current day and than go back and reshow it to us back then, when it was honestly just kind of annoying and i honestly wish that they didn’t do so much back and forth, since it got to be kind of annoying. but, i do like with what it showed and the backstory about how this could work, but i still found it to be kind of boring.

i also really liked that this book also kind of goes into the recovery and the healing that goes through everything that happened in the start of her life. like, her recovering from her mom was honestly so great and i mean, they really did a great job at it all. and also, like it was all so raw and it felt real, which i honestly loved so much. and i honestly think the whole recovery part was honestly one of the best parts of this book, since it just felt so real and raw.

and also even if i didn’t really like the two time lines, especially the earlier plot. i honestly really liked the two timelines and how they were intertwined together. and i feel like it was done so well, even if the before was a bit weak, i really liked how they are honestly more on the edge of your seat, and that i really liked how they played out. and that they both were honestly so cool and that they both just felt real, even if the before wasn’t my favorite.

but, i also really liked that this book took place in a matter of hours, and then that it honestly felt like it took that many hours. and that they didn’t drag it out and make it be longer than it needed to be. which, i felt was honestly so good. since, a lot of them honestly feel like a lot of time heavy books that only take a couple hours feel like this took place in days instead of hours, so this was honestly just so cool and i really liked it.

and i honestly feel like the pacing of this book was honestly very good. like i said before, i do feel like some YA books have some pacing issues, but i feel like it was honestly done so well. and i mean, it was done very well and that it wasn’t boring or that it didn’t work. but, i feel like the pacing in this book was honestly very good, and kind of keeps you on the edge of your set, with having it all have small chapters and honestly having good writing, which was honestly so cool.

but, i would have liked more plot with iris and wes. like, i feel like most of this book was just nora being in this go go go mindset and that it was this one woman show. where, since they introduced these two characters in the start, i kind of expected them to have more plot with them, or at least the three always working together. but, i mean, it was still decent, but i think it could have been so much better if they were always working together and not just this one woman show throughout this whole book.

with that being said, i still feel like wes and iris were still very complex characters. like, we still got to see their backstories and their life before this bank heist and even got told before iris got into their life, which i think was so cool. and just knowing each of their backstories was so cool and i really liked seeing them not just as friends or (ex) love interests. and that they were actually complex and not just there because they are/were with nora in some way.

and also just that their relationships were honestly so well done. like, the characters weren’t just the ex or the girlfriend or the friend like some books are, especially YA books. and like to hear about nora and wes being friends while they also dating and that they don’t care if they dated cause they are still friends. and that them breaking up, or even nora coming out, didn’t break them, and that they are still this friendship.

i did though really like nora as a character. like, i feel like she was very kind of bad ass and not your cookie cutter YA heroine, which i do think was really cool. and i mean, she is one of those characters that you don’t really want to mess with cause she’ll kill you or at least beat you up. which, was so amazing, and that she didn’t let the trauma from her past stop her, which i think was so cool and that she was still breaking down her barriers.

anyway, that is all for today! i honestly really liked this book, and i honestly think it was so well done, and i feel like it was such an amazing book. but, i also can’t wait for the movie to come out, or at least to start be in production, since i feel like it would be so amazing. and i also am pretty excited to dive into this authors backlist, since i think it would be so good, even if it is half as good as this book.
