February tbr

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about my february tbr. honestly, i have a ton of books i want to read in February, since i have a ton of arcs and a ton on libby. and i’m honestly so excited to read so many of these books.

legend born by Tracy Deonn. i got this book a couple months ago in my owlcrate and i’m so excited for this book. but, this book is kind of a modern day city of bones, but 16 year old Bree Matthews wants nothing to do with her family memories and her childhood home. a residential program for smart and bright high schoolers at Chapel Hill sounds like the perfect escape, until she witnesses a magical attack her first night on campus.

the extraordinaries by TJ Klune. Nick Bell has never been extraordinary, but then again he is a fanfiction writer for the Extraordinaries fandom of super powers. once he gets the chance to meet Shadow Star, his biggest crush, Nick wants to make himself extraordinary. and he will do this with or without his best friend, Seth Gray, and maybe the love of his life.

you should see me in a crown by Leah Johnson. Liz Lighty has never fit in, and now she wants to leave her small town and got to her Pennington college. but, when the financial aid falls threw, all of her plans fall threw, she learns that the prom king and queen get some money. the only issue is that the new girl Mack, is also running and also Liz’s long time crush.

those who prey by Jennifer Moffett. college isn’t anything like Emily expected. she thought freshman year would be walking in the icy covered campus with friends and finally feeling like she is fitting in. but, she is walking the campus alone and not having a place to fit in so far from home. but, then the Kingdom finds her. the Kingdom is an exclusive on campus group, and offers everything Emily expected of college: friends, acceptance, a boyfriends, and even a trip to Italy. once they get to Italy, this isn’t the trip they thought it would be, they are stripped of their passports and money, cut off from their family, and how the Kingdom practices become more and more manipulative and dangerous. but, then someone dies.

something happened to Ali Greenleaf by Hayley Krischer. Ali Greenleaf and Blythe Jensen couldn’t be that more different. Ali is sweet, funny, and a bit naïve. and Blythe is beautiful, terrifying, and the most popular girl in the whole school. but, then Ali puts some moves on Sean Nessel, her longtime crush, but then Sean pushed Ali farther than she wants to go, she resists, and he rapes her. Blythe sees Ali when she runs from the party, and Blythe knows something happened with Sean, but she still befriends Ali. but, they go to Blythe’s circle and all the popular girls share their secrets no way anyone else has ever has.

hand on the wall by Maureen Johnson. so, i’m not going to say to much about this book, because it is a third book in a series, so i’m not going to say that much. but, this is the third book in the truly devious series if you care.

honey girls by Morgan Rogers. 28 year old Grace Porter just completed her PhD in astronomy, so of course she does a little girls’ trip to Vegas to celebrate. She’s hard working, straight A student, and work through the summer kind of person. but, she is definitely not the kind of girl who gets drunk and married to a woman she doesn’t even know the name of. this event shows her that she doesn’t have to be the kind of girl that her father wants her to be. then she flees from her hometown, to New York with her wife and ignore all the annoying questions that she has about her future and what she is going to do.

the dog share by Fiona Gibson. this is all about Suzy Medley, who is having a bad day, but then a shabby terrier who turns up at her door, just like Suzy, Scout has been abandoned. then Suzy takes Scout into her crazy world, that has unexpected changes, since now strangers are more welcoming. then, things get more and more complicated, since Suzy isn’t the only one that needs a friend.

fight for her by Liz Plum. from the outside, Scarlet Tucker’s life seems perfect, with her million dollar auto repair company, the girlfriend of the schools quarterback, and all of her peers like her. but, after the death of her brother, every day is hard to keep up appearance, especially her boyfriend, whose reputation is more important then her feelings. then she meets the schools bad boy, Elijah Black, she is drawn to him since they share the same sorrow, they both lost a brother. before long, they are to deep to turn back and they only way they will survive is if they stick together.

down world by Rebecca Phelps. the site of the former military base, there are rumors that East Township High School has been the site of experiment with space and time. for years, students have talked in the hallway and doorways, which has the access to many different timelines and realities. the new kid in town comes to town after her brothers death, Marina O’Connell only wants to leave the past behind. then she meets Brady Picelli, he leads her on this amazing discovery. this down world is real in the past, present, and future. so, now Marina has the chance to discover what actually happened to her brother.

the girls are all so nice here by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn. this is all about two former best friends are now returning to their college reunion. but, as they return they find that someone wants revenge. and that someone wants revenge for something they did 10 years ago, but the person will do nothing to stop their plan.

the best laid plans by Cameron Lund. high school senior Keely Collins is the only virgin in her friend group, and wants to loose it on her birthday during her party. but, the only issue is that he needs to find a guy, fast, but she knows all of the guys in her small town, so it’s kind of hard to find a guy that you’ve seen eating crayons. then she meets Dean, who is super hot and new, and looks like he has fallen out of a classic movie poster, drives a motorcycle, flirts, and is kind of into her.

anyway, that is all for today! i am honestly so excited to read all of these months hopefully this month. but, i honestly hope that i have a good reading month this month like i did last year.

january wrap up

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books i’ve read in January. honestly, it is kind of a lot, and it was a decent month. i mean, i did have some books that i didn’t really care for, but i still liked somethings in here.

the famoux by Kassandra Tate. i gave this book 1/5 stars. thanks so much Netgalley and Wattpad books for the publishers. first off, this book was honestly so freaking bad and it was just so cringey. and also the writing was so terrible and it just was so basic and boring. but the characters were honestly so flat and not good.

city of the plague god by Sarwat Chadda. i gave this book 1/5 stars. thank you so much Netgalley and Disney for an arc. but, this book was just so basic and kind of a percy jackson rip off at parts. and some of the things that they said in here just didn’t rub me good, so i felt like i couldn’t give it a good rating. and it was so anti woman, that it was so annoying.

city of the villains by Estelle Laure. i gave this book 1/5 stars. thank you so much Netgalley and Disney books for this arc! this was honestly worst then the first two and it also had so much potential, but just not written well. but, the plot was a mess, just like the writing.

all this time by Mikki Daughtry and Rachel Lippincott. i gave this book 5/5 stars. this book was honestly so heartbreaking, but yet so amazing. honestly, this will probably be one of the best books of 2021, since it was just that good. the ending was to good to be true though, but still so good. and whoever designs these covers honestly needs a raise.

rent a boyfriend by Gloria Chao. i gave this book 4/5 stars. overall, this book was honestly so cute and i really liked it. there were parts between the holiday’s that did get to be kind of boring, but this was still pretty good. i really liked the relationship and how it all panned out. and this was honestly such a good book and i highly recommend this.

revenge of the sluts by Natalie Walton. i gave this book 4/5 stars. thank you so much Netgalley and Wattpad books for an arc! but, this book was honestly so good, and i really didn’t expect it to be that good. but, this wasn’t the best book i’ve read, but also not the worst. but, i really like how it wasn’t all slut shaming like a lot of books are.

if i disappear by Eliza Jane Brazier. i gave this book 3/5 stars. thank you Netgalley and Berkley. this book was honestly pretty bad, and just this book was honestly kind of a mess. and i honestly can’t get over a couple of the things that they said, since they were just so weird.

the inheritance game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. i gave this book 3/5 stars. this book was honestly kind of bad, and i don’t really see a lot of the hype of this book. but, i did find the ending to be so predictable, and the mystery wasn’t even that good. but, i’ll probably still read the sequel when it comes out.

truly devious by Maureen Johnson. i gave this book 5/5 stars. i honestly had no hope for this book, since when i started it once and dnfed it, so i really had zero hope for it. but, i honestly loved this book so much when i was reading it. the romance was unneeded though, but it was still pretty good.

throwaway girls by Andrea Contos. i gave this book 3/5 stars. thank you Netgalley and Jimmy Patterson Books for an arc of this book! this was honestly not the best thriller and mystery book i’ve read. but, this was also kind of predictable in my mind. i also wish we got more talk about their relationship, but the ending was definitely way to nice for the book.

teen killers club by Lily Sparks. i gave this book 4.75/5 stars. this book was honestly such a wild ride, but it was pretty good. the whole love triangle wasn’t even that good, and i really didn’t care for it at all. but, the ending was also way to sweet for the book, since the whole book was like murder and death, where the end was happily ever after.

in an absent dream by Seanan McGuire. i gave this book 3/5 stars. this honestly was such a decent book, and it wasn’t the best book in the series, but it was still really good. the whole world was pretty cool and i guess wish we got more explanation on the world, but in the end was pretty cool and i liked it in the end.

the project by Courtney Summer. i gave this book 2/5 stars. thanks Netgalley and Wednesday Books for an arc! this honestly was such a terrible book. like i know people are probably going to come for me since i don’t like, but it was so bad. like the characters were all the same, and just kind of flat. and there was also so much preaching in this book that just got to be annoying.

love is a revolution by Renee Watson. i gave this book 2/5 stars. thank you so much Netgalley and Bloomsbury YA for an arc. but, i honestly had such high hopes for this book, but it just let me down so much. this book was so toxic from what Nala was trying to do. but, and there was so much drama and lying it just got to be annoying.

broken wish by Julie C. Dao. i gave this book 4/5 stars. thank you so much Netgalley and Disney Books for an arc. but, this was honestly a pretty good book, and it was honestly super cool. and i really liked the whole fairytale vibes in this book. and the whole friendship was pretty good and i really liked it. but, i do wish we got to see more of the parents when they were younger since that was cool.

the taming of the shrew by William Shakespeare. i gave this book 1/5 stars. so, i read this book for school, and i honestly hated it. like it was such a bad book and i really did not like most of the characters and whole plot and everything. but at this point, we get that he hates woman.

the vanishing stair by Maureen Johnson. i gave this book 5/5 stars. this book was honestly so freaking good and i really loved this book. like, it was just so good and i loved the mystery plot, and i really like it. and the whole david plot was honestly pretty good and i really liked it in the long run. and i’m kind of happy that it wasn’t that romance heavy.

the cousins by Karen M. McManus. i gave this book 2/5 stars. i honestly had such high hopes for this book, and it was such a let down. but, i couldn’t get into this book at all, and overall it was so bad. like all of the voices were just so bad and kind of cliche and then pretty boring. and all of the voices were all the same and got to be confusing as hell.

as far as you’ll take me by Phil Stamper. i gave this book 3/5 stars. thanks Bloomsbury for an arc! but, this book was not good, there was honestly so much bullying and homophobia in this book, it really just made me a pissed off. and the weight talk was honestly so toxic for me, and it honestly made me pretty triggered. overall, i didn’t expect this to be so rough and dark.

anyway, that is all for today! i honestly read a lot of books this months, which is probably a new record for me. but, i honesty hope that in next month i read some better books, not all kind of shitty.

if i disappear review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about if i disappear by Eliza Jane Brazier. i gave this book 3/5 stars. first off, thank you so much Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group for an arc of this book! and also happy pub date for this book.

trigger warning- murder, death, kidnapping, alcoholism, dead cats, and dead dogs.

first off, i really liked the whole podcast element. like we got a lot of talk about how this podcast worked, and all of these cases that kind of influenced Sera’s life. but, i mean it got to be kind of boring at certain parts, since it was just so info dumpy and a lot of the cases started to sound the same, which was kind of boring. but, i mean i still really loved the whole podcast element, even if it was kind of hit or miss.

but, i do feel like it was kind of weird about how much of a stalker Sera was. like, i understand that you find these celebrities or internet personalities, you really like them. which, is understandable, but Sera took it to the next level. but, congrats for her helping Rachel and helping her, but damn Sera was so creepy. like she straight up moved into Rachel’s life, got with Rachel’s friend with benefits and like took over Rachel’s life. and like she started living her Rachel’s parents house. i don’t know but that was honestly kind of weird and it just rubbed me the wrong way.

and she honestly made this podcast to be her whole personality. like i know i probably have just picked up some of my book characters traits and some of Alexis Rose’s actions, but Sera took it to the extreme. like she only lived and breathed this podcast. (honestly Sera kind of reminded me of those people that make the office to be their whole personality.) and it was just so weird, and it honestly made me so uncomfortable about how this podcast and Rachel was Sera’s whole personality. and it’s not like i watch Schitt’s Creek or Modern Family 24/7 and i don’t wake up and watch it and watch it all day when i do my simple tasks and in the grocery store and hell even fall asleep to it every day. it was just so freaking weird.

with that being said, i did really liked how this book was told like you are Rachel. so, how all of the writing was like you told me this, you helped me with this, you told me not to walk alone. which, was honestly pretty cool in my mind. it could be a little annoying, and it kind of got on my nerves after awhile, but i still kind of liked it.

but, this book was definitely boring. like at some points it was just Sera going threw all of the day to day motions, but i still really liked it in the end. but, as the story started picking up, i really liked it then. but, the ending was kind of slow, but it was still pretty good.

if you aren’t reading this book carefully though, this will probably be one of the most confusing books in the world. since, they never really said Rachel’s name, since it was like your podcast not Rachel’s podcast, and my daughter not Rachel, and stuff like that. and they literally never said her name and i honestly didn’t know her name till this one character, Jed, said it.

but, there was a couple things that didn’t make sense in the grand scheme of these. like there was this car crash and it happened, but then this was like dropped and didn’t even make sense who hit them and also i think Jed got hurt but then the next day he was like fine. and then Rachel’s podcast is a huge thing right? but the mom kept saying over and over again about how there is no Wi-Fi in this farm. obviously if you are on the internet researching these crimes and even posting the podcast you need the wifi to do everything. which, honestly needed more describing about everything that was happening.

this is honestly just something i want to see more in books, but i really liked how on the top of certain chapters it would say ‘graphic content warning.’ which, is honestly so little, but i honestly really liked how this happened in this book. and like it is such a small thing, but i honestly really liked this whole thing.

and we honestly it was so easy to tell who did it. i mean, the character was so sus throughout the whole story. and when we met this character i was like yep they totally did it. and it wasn’t even that shocking when i got to it and the big reveal happened. i could not care less.

i feel kind of weird for talking about this, since this is such a mini thing in this book. but, i honestly really liked the whole little romance between Jed and Sera. i mean, i honestly really liked how they worked together on the case and then their romance. but, their whole romance was just based on sex, and they pretty much just had sex the whole time. which, honestly was kind of weird but they both are adults so whatever.

but, i found it so weird how the author talked about how they had sex. like normal authors literally just talk about how sexy it is and how hot they are together and kind of basic thing. which is the normal thing to do, but instead Brazier took it upon herself to pretty much say each place Jed and Sera fucked. like the kitchen counter, the couch, the kitchen table, the shower (which was talked about SO much), and his bed. like, i don’t know if she was trying to make us be like “holy shit they had sex in the shower, damn.” like i was like ‘um okay. shower sex, congrats to them i guess.’ and the whole sex scenes were so not hot, but whatever.

now, i pulled two quotes out of this book that i just want to talk about, since they are just so freaking weird.

“damaged people have the best sex”

first off, what the hell is that quote. i mean, we got pages upon pages upon pages about how when Jed and Sera where fucking, it was like oh we are so damaged so we are having this amazing sex. and when i was reading this book i literally had question marks around my head. cause it was just so weird. and like who the hell says that.

this next quote is so weird, and like it is such an weird thing to say so yeah.

“the outline of his limp dick against the crotch of his Levi’s”

this quote was by far one of the weirdest things i’ve read in a hot second. and i know i’m literally giving zero context of what was happening and why Sera said that about Jed. but it was honestly just so uncomfortable and just weird. like who sees someone and looks at his dick and was like ‘wow his dick is limp’ like wtf.

but, i mean i was scrolling threw the authors instagram and apparently she wants to turn this into a tv show. since she is this screenwriter, so she is turning this into this tv show. but whatever good for her i guess. so, if this happens good luck to everyone cause this book if weird as hell.

anyway, that is all for today! i hope you enjoyed this blog post, even though it is kind of a mess. but, thank you so much Netgalley and Berkeley for an arc of this book. and happy late pub date to this book!

city of villains review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about city of villains by Estelle Laure. i gave this book 1/5 stars. but, thank you so much Disney books and Netgalley for an arc of this book! and all of the thoughts on this book are my own, and didn’t get changed because i got an arc. and also happy pub day for this book!

i feel like in any fantasy book, or book that takes place in the real world, but turned fictional. the author really needs to explain everything how this world works. where in this case Laure did not do this. she pretty much was like yeah this takes place in this fake New York and then would talk about the schools and the different takes on the different disney worlds (ex. Wonderland was a big one) but they never explained it. like it was so confusing and it just didn’t make sense at all. and this was for the world, the schools, and all of the bars/clubs if you could even call it that. and like it was so confusing because it was talking about Michigan and the Bachelor, so i don’t even know what was happening in here.

but, i do think it was kind of cool that we got to see a lot of these disney villains. like it was cool, but half of them didn’t make any damn sense. like the mad hatter made sense, and like the fairies in sleeping beauty made sense, but that was literally it. which, was so confusing, especially when they had three different girls that changed to villains, and the only one made sense and the other two i had like question marks around my head cause i was so confused.

then the writing. this writing was honestly such a god damn mess. everything was like i read this, i did this, i said this, i examined this. so, you get the point. which, this got to be a pain in the ass because it just was so boring. and like it was just not it. but, i mean this was honestly kind of a shit show.

and i’m not sure if this was just me, but i found like writing to be a little childish. like not one of these typical middle grade writing style, this was just plain childish when this was supposed to be this upper YA book. but, now this was just so not good in my mind. and like with what is talked about it feels like older YA, with all the swearing too and all the marriage plot, but then the writing told me something else.

if you follow me, you know that i a lot of my reviews are way more negative then not. but, in here there is literally nothing positive about it. like i read the first maybe 75% word for word then i just skimmed it cause i literally could not care about this world. but, in here i literally cannot think of one positive thing sometimes though i like to put a little positive thing. but, there is not one positive thing in here, not on single thing.

personally, i really like crime books, i really like the stories about people going missing and getting killed. and this seems to be like such a good story combining two things i love, disney and crime stories. but this is not it. and like it was all about how these girls where going missing but it was just not it. like this was just so crappy and did not do anything remotely good.

this is kind of jumping back to the whole world building, but they would have all of these characters that i can pin point being like ‘oh that is supposed to be Maleficent’ or ‘that boy is kind of like Jafar.’ but, then there would be these characters named Kyle and Lucas, and i was like huh??? how does that even make sense.

honestly, this whole book felt like a CW tv show. it is all over the place and does not make any bit of sense at all.

and i’m such a big disney fan. like right as i’m writing this i have a disney jacket on and a walt disney t shirt on. hell i have one whole wall that is filled up with disney world maps and the other one i have a ton of pictures on, and one of my all time favorite books is the kingdom keepers. so, you get how i really love disney, but this was just so bad and did not do it justice. the villains did not make sense at all and this whole world was not it, and it was so weird.

i completely know that this review makes zero sense and is literally all over the place, but there is no way to talk about this book in a cohesive way. so, honestly i’m sorry if you got this far and this does not make sense at all. needless to say i’m not going to read this series.

anyway, that is all for today! i hope you understood this review even a little bit. but, thanks so much for an arc of this book to Netgalley and and Disney books. but, yeah i won’t be reading this series or anything else by the author in the future.

shine your icy crown review

hello everyone! today i am going to talk about shine your icy crown by Amanda Lovelace. i gave this book 5/5 stars. first off, thank you so much Netgalley and the publisher for an arc of this book! and also happy pub date to this book!

this review is also going to be kind of short, since i don’t have to much to talk about.

but, i do feel like Lovelace kind of reached into every single women’s life and put it in a poetry collection. and i mean, i feel like it was kind of so normalized, which is just so depressing, but i really liked how they talked about it and how it literally sucks for a lot to be a women in 2021.

i do honestly feel like this book is a lot of real advice. which, was pretty cool, and it honestly feels like something you can read and go back to it whenever you need it. which, is honestly so cool. but, i mean i think that it gets the point across, and really tells you how to live your life in a certain way.

but, on a more negitive note, i feel like this book was kind of repetive. and i’ll include a couple, but i feel like it was just annoying. but, i mean i think it was kind of a pain, since it was just so much so quickly. and half of them weren’t even poetry.

some examples-

“why does nobody want me?”

  • why, why why, why, why?

‘your to pretty to be single.”

  • says him

so, you get what i’m trying to get at. but, then when it wasn’t like that, it was like i’m considered a poet cause half of my shit doesn’t make sense, then there is a lot of commas, and then these are sentences that i would get yelled at if i used in school homework. so, you get the point.

i’ve never read their other stories, but from what i can gather from just reading what they are about, it seems to be kind of different. since, in here it talked about how this was sisters, not so much of a fairy tale. which, i honestly really liked how they talked about sisters, and how sisters will forever be connected.

but, also i really liked that it was cool how it got told like you actually have a sister. personally, i don’t have a sister, but i feel like this is kind of having a sister to talk to when you have an issue. which, i really liked in here. and it just felt like you were talked to, not talked down to like in most poetry in my experience.

anyway, i hope you enjoyed this blog post! first off, thank you so much Netgalley and the publishers for an arc! all of my feeling are my own in here, and wasn’t changed because i do have an arc. but, in the future i honestly cannot wait to read more of these books by this author in the future.

more than just a pretty face review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about more than just a pretty face by Syed M. Masood. i gave this book 2/5 stars. first off, thank you so much Netgalley and Little Brown Books for an arc of this book! and all of the feelings in this review are my own. honestly just bare with me here since i read this book a long time ago so yeah.

trigger warning- a lot of food talk, body shaming, some harry potter talk, slut shaming, arranged marriage, a lot of food talk, and sex tape of a minor.

first thing first, Danyal was honestly cocky, and not even a good kind of cocky. like, it was literally so annoying about how everything was about him and he was just so self centered. and this got to be so annoying after awhile and it just made me so pissed off while reading it.

the next thing is how sexist this book is. this honestly kind of played into the whole being so cocky. since he always made himself act like this big and powerful guy, and how he is such this lady’s man, and that all these girls are just good for being pretty and having sex. which, honestly got to be so annoying. and he also needs to tell all of the woman in his life is how to act and how to dress, which was just so annoying. i know i’m not explaining this well enough, but hopefully you get the point.

Danyal was also so mean to Bisma. like before they really got together, and even the first time they met all he is doing is calling her ugly and fat and how so many girls are so much skinnier and so much prettier. and, this honestly got me so pissed off, since this literally made me want to slap him cause he was just so rude.

and the whole family was just so rude about her. like i’m going to pull this quote “keep an open mind about this girl. she’s not, you know, hot exactly, but she’s got sex appeal.” which honestly just pissed me off cause they are pretty much just telling you that the only thing a girl is for is having sex and that you need to be conventionally pretty to have people like you, which is just so annoying. and they also talked about how they need to be skinny to have guys like you.

but, then i feel like Danyal was honestly so toxic. like he was so much of one of those guys that always here for looks and that it. and i mean he was so into girls that was skinny. and then he was like going after this girl and though she was so not into her, and he kept like chasing her, which overall was kind of toxic.

i also can’t talk about the Muslim rep, but i there was a lot of slut shaming. like it got to be so much, and it honestly made me want to dnf, which i obviously didn’t. but, it was just so annoying, and it was just so much and it was honestly so toxic. like, in my mind i just wish they kept the slut shaming to a minimum.

but, with that being said, Danyal kept making all of these jokes about his religion, which a lot of own voices reviewers said that it honestly just made them uncomfortable. and a lot of this book he was just making fun of the Muslim religion and all of the traditions. and he kept repeating them over and over, and i think Masood was trying to be funny, but it honestly didn’t work out.

this book was honestly pretty political, which was honestly not that bad when it was talked about. i honestly really enjoyed how they talked about how Winston Churchill wasn’t this amazing person, and how everyone thinks he is. and honestly how they always talked about him and how they kind of intertwined that into the romance.

with that being said, it got to be so annoying how Danyal would keep making comments about how if you do homework your a nerd, and it’s not good to do it. which, just got to be on my nerve, like some of us don’t really have a choice to do it so we don’t fail the class.

but, i also wish we got the romance upfront. like, we got it very much in the end, but i wish it was throughout the whole book. there was definitely some flirting and attraction in the start and the middle. but, the ending is when it really started, which i honestly kind of liked.

i also feel like this book had the whole teenagers are teenagers in it. which, is probably why Danyal was so god damn annoying. but, i mean, i really liked how all of the teenagers kind of acted like it. there definitely was moments that you can just tell an adult was writing it, but it was pretty good though.

and of course, this is a romance so it is going to be pretty predictable. which, was just expected. but, i feel like this was just a bit extreme. like i knew what was going to happen, not even just the romance, like everything else. but, you can’t have everything i guess.

overall, this book kind of made me uncomfortable at different parts. like, it might just be me. but the way he was talking about different girls and his religion just didn’t sit right with me. and this honestly gave me that feeling in my stomach, if you know what i’m talking about.

spoliers-

i did find the whole proposal in the end was a bit much. like i get that he is 19 and all, but it still felt a bit rushed. i would have totally just took a good old, ‘will you be my girlfriend?’ but, the proposal felt a little unneeded.

i also wish the talk about the sex tape was more positive. like i understand that she had sex out of marriage, but i just wished they understood that she didn’t want it to be recorded, the boy did it by himself. this honestly just pissed me off how she was the only one to blame, when it is more of the boys fault since he recorded it and put it on the internet.

end of warning.

anyway, that is all for today! obviously this wasn’t the best book in the world, but i still enjoyed reading it, to a degree. but, thank you so much for the e-arc of this book Netgalley and the publisher.

most anticipated books of 2021

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about my most anticipated books of 2021. and this is honestly a longer list, so i honestly cut some down, but then there was also some books that already came out, since it’s mid January now. and also i took books that i didn’t have an arc of, since i could read them right now if i wanted. and a couple of these books don’t even have a title yet, so i’ll just call it by the series name.

kill joy by Holly Jackson. this book comes out February 18th. so, this is a prequel to a good girls guide to murder. but, this is all about Pip Fitz Amobi, who is in no mood to go to her friends murder mystery party. especially since it includes 1920’s fancy dress and pretending their town is an island called Joy. but, as this game starts, Pip finds herself drawn to a make believe world. as she plays detective, and finding the identity of the killer, the case of the fake Reginald Remy of course isn’t the only case on her mind.

a good girls guide to murder 3 by Holly Jackson. we know literally nothing about this book, only that it follows Pip and Ravi, and it is the third book in this series. but, this is still one of my most anticipated releases of this year and i honestly cannot wait till we get a title and a cover.

new kingdom keeper book by Ridley Pearson. this book is supposed to publish September 2021. again, we literally know nothing about this book, only that, i believe, it follows the original kingdom keepers kids. which, i’m kind of sad that we won’t see more of the original kingdom keepers, i’m still happy that we get more books.

one last stop by Casey McQuiston. this book comes out June 1st. when August moved to New York it is supposed to prove her right, that magic and cinematic love stories does not exist and you just need to do your life by yourself. but, on this train, a gorgeous girl is there. Jane, who is dazzling, charming, and mysterious, her rough edges and swoopy hair and then a soft smile. showing up right when August needs her most. but, as August learns that Jane doesn’t look like an old school punk rocker, she is literally from the 1970s, and August is going to need to use everything to leave her own past to help her.

kingdom of the cursed by Kerri Maniscalo. this book comes out October 26th. so we have no clue what this book is about, besides its the sequel of the kingdom of the wicked, but i am honestly so excited for this book.

you’ll be the death of me by Karen M McManus. this book comes out December 1st. we don’t know to much about this book, but it is a YA murder mystery meets Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. this is about three estranged friends who skip school and get caught up in a crime they can’t solve without exposing their secrets.

heartstoppers volume four by Alice Oseman. this comes out May 13th. so this is the fourth graphic novel in this series. but, i’m not going to talk that much about it since i don’t want to spoiler anyone else for the first three books. but, i’m honestly so excited for this.

the intimacy experiment by Rosie Danan. this book comes out April 6th. this is all about Naomi Grant about after she had the sex positive start up she is now an international sensation and wants to show her educational platform to live lecturing. Ethan Cohen is one of the cities hottest bachelors and became a rabbi of his own synagogue. as these two join forces to host a seminar series on modern intimacy, the perfect solution to their problems, but their other problem is that they are now growing attraction to each other.

the ivies by Alexa Donne. this book comes out May 25th. everyone knows about the Ivies, the most converted universities in the US. but, the ivies are way more important, these five girls are all with the same mission, to get into Ivy League by any means. they disrupt class ranks, club leaderships, and academic competitions among other things.

the soulmate equation by Christina Lauren. this book comes out May 18th. Jess Davis is a single mother and a statistics wizard, but nothing can convince her to step back into the dating world. she was raised by her grandparents, who are now helping raise her seven year old daughter, Juno, since her dad left since he wasn’t father material. but, as a matchmaking company uses your DNA to find your soulmate, she jumps on the chance. but, she gets a 98% compatibility with the founder Dr. River Pena, and she can’t wrap her head around it.

a pho love stories by Loan Le. this comes out February 9th. Bao Nguyen always thought of himself as a rock, steady and strong, and not that interesting. his grades are average and his social status unremarkable, and he works for his parents’ pho restaurant, and there he is his parents fifth favorite employee. Linh Mai is a firecracker, stable and a lot of potential for jot and fire. she loves art and dreams of pursing a career in it. her parents rely on her with working full time at her family’s pho restaurant. these two families have been at odds, having owned competing and neighboring pho restaurants, they have always avoided each other. but, when they have a chance encounter brings them in the same effort, sparks fly.

anyway, that is all for today! this could honestly go on for a long time, but these are probably my most anticipated that i cannot wait for. but, i cannot wait to read these and then talk about them more, since they all sound so good.

the cheerleaders review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the cheerleaders by Kara Thomas. i gave this book 2/5 stars. honestly, this book was so freaking bad and i honestly hated these characters and the whole plot was just so boring.

trigger warning- suicide, murder, death, statutory rape, sexual assault, substance abuse, abortion.

this book did feel like this book was way more of a YA book that had more controversial topics. and that a lot of things that were talked about in here where things that don’t get talked about in YA books, mostly just adult books. but, i mean i feel like everything was super realistic and it was told like it was and wasn’t sugarcoated. and then i do wish that there was more talk about more throughout the whole story.

to me, i feel like the end of this book wasn’t even that the whole ending was so anticlimactic. since, i feel like the end of this book was just so boring. and to me, i feel like that how everything happened was just so flat. but, i honestly kind of pushed the ending off the ending, since it was so bad.

with that being said, i do wish that there was more action. like, i feel like there was action like a police shootout and then some kidnapping. but, i mean i wish that it carried out throughout the book. since i feel like it was just so yeah this happened and this happened, but it was just like internet stalking to a degree. since, they never really did anything besides in the start.

but, i also feel like this book just had a ton of victim blaming. which, honestly got to be kind of a pain the ass after awhile, and i mean when Monica got pregnant and everyone was like it’s your fault Monica, and not the dude that got her pregnant. and the dude was acting like it was her fault, when he got her pregnant and everything.

and to my mind, this book could honestly be so good, but it just wasn’t. like five girls dying in the same month but in all different creepy ways could honestly be so cool. but, this was just not it. like, it was honestly kind of boring and not it.

and i feel like Monica is just not a good character, like i feel like she was an all American sweet character. and i honestly just feel like she was two nice for her own good in my mind. with that being said, everyone calls her to be this pro sleuth and that she is kind of bad ass, but she honestly wasn’t. like she was kind of gullible

with that being said, i know she was going threw somethings in this book. like with the whole baby drama and also the fact that she was just still dealing with her sister dying. but, i mean she was just kind of bland and she just not that good of a character.

and i also think that she was just so flat and boring, and in my mind if they find answers for how her sister died in more in depth, you would feel a little bit better and not be so flat. but he was still so flat and boring and figuring everything out wasn’t helping her at all and it just made her flat and there was literally no growth in the end.

this book was also so confusing. like the whole premise of this and how everything was working, and the ending literally made zero sense. since, i’m not even sure if they figured out if they found who did it. and they went from talking about this case to talking about the rape and also the whole drama about some parent. and overall i just could not get into it.

and i honestly found this book to be so similar to a good girls guide to murder. and not in a cute or good way. like it was so similar and that book is so much better. so, if you are honestly wanting to read a mystery like this, read that book and definitely not this book.

anyway, that is all for today! i honestly could not get into this book at all, which i’m kind of sad about not gonna lie. but, in the future i would honestly still read the rest of Thomas’ books in the future and hope they are better.

the famoux review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the famoux by Kassandra Tate. i gave this book 1/5 stars. first off, thank you so much Netgalley and Wattpad books an arc of this book! and also happy pub date to this book.

trigger warning- bullying and body image issues.

first thing first, the writing in this book was honestly so bad. it was very typical wattpad book writing. and i mean, it was just so boring and the writing wasn’t helping anything in this book. but, i mean, if this book was just like rewritten and a lot more edited, do i think this could be better? yeah, but i still don’t have that much hope for it.

since we are on the talk of bad writing, there is this one line that kind of made me go like huh???? cause it was just that bad. so, for a little background info, the main character, Emilee, was talking about this jacket. and most good authors will describe the jacket and everything around them, but Tate says when she is talking about this jacket “that corduroy thing.” which is literally her job to describe the jacket, and not just say that corduroy thing. which is what i would write when i was a 9 year old trying to write a book.

the next thing can be taken as a spoiler, but then again it happens in the prologue so you can keep reading if you want. but, there was pages and pages and pages about how Emilee’s mom was this amazing person and this amazing mom. but, then she runs away and leaves the whole family to fend for themselves. so, i don’t even know how Tate can write with her whole chest that the mom was this amazing person, when she wasn’t really all that great.

but, this whole family is a mess. like when Emilee was home it was just arguing and then her older siblings would just argue and make fun of her, which got to be so annoying. cause this just be my house, but i have my tv shows (chicago pd, schitt’s creek, modern family, etc) and my brother has his shows (spongebob and nfl network) and we might not like the same shows, but we’ve never straight up bullied each other, make like an ew this is so stupid, but nothing like what they were doing in this book.

i’ve also been told on netgalley and just people recommending this book that it is supposed to be like big brother. let me tell you, it is nothing close to big brother whatsoever. since, them being Famoux was pretty much the equivalent to being the Kardashian’s, aka everyone knows who they are and they are A list, but they literally do nothing.

then, once she was like first became a famoux member, they had this little tank thing, from what i thought it to be was like a photo booth kind of thing, but you had to be naked in there. and then they would hit a few buttons and it would make you skinny, change you hair color, make your scars go away, make you darker. and the logic behind this was literally non existent.

like, even if his thing makes you skinnier or makes your hair go from brown to blonde, you’d still be able to recognize them. and the whole part of this famoux box crap was your family won’t be able to know that it is you. but, like if you dye your hair or loose weight, won’t your family still be able to be like “oh shit that is my sister.” like there was literally zero logic behind that.

but, also with that being said, i don’t understand how people just don’t realize that their family member or friend is think ‘oh my family member is not here?’ or even like realize that their family or friend went missing and then this new person is now a famoux and they kind of look for them. but, i seriously don’t understand that and how nobody looked for them.

on a positive note, i do feel like Tate really explained how the world described. i mean, i feel like that we got told everything and anything about this world, which i honestly really liked. and i don’t read to much sci fi and dystopian, and hell even that much fantasy, but most of the time i don’t really understand most of the world. so, i feel like Tate described this world and how everything worked in here.

but, then all of these characters got to be so confusing. i mean, it was honestly all over the place and they never really described all of these characters. and also that there was all of these characters were like copy and paste characters of each other. since, they were all of these white, straight and blonde. which, made this book so confusing to honestly hard to understand who everyone was.

this book was also so predictable. since i could completely know that DEFED was when i read this book. so that honestly took all of the whole mystery out of this book. and if you read this book, you can probably understand who it was, since Tate didn’t even try to hide it.

and i honestly just wished so much more was fleshed out. and i mean, half of this really just not got fleshed out and what got fleshed out wasn’t even that good. and i mean, i feel like there was some many things that were brought in, but never really talked about. and there was so many characters that just where never fleshed out completely and i honestly forgot about them.

i’ve already talked about this a little bit, but the bullying was that typical wattpad bullying. like, it was honestly just like so childish and just so overall dramatic, and it was just so bad and i honestly couldn’t get with it and it was like oh you walked let’s throw you in a lake.

and there was also so many different age gaps. like Em was about 16 years old, but all the other members were about 18-20, so adults. and then the same thing was for the romantic relationship was gross in here. but, i mean i honestly thought it was so gross and just not a good look. and there was honestly so many plot holes in this book, but i mean it was kind of typical in these books.

anyway, that is all for today! i hope you enjoy this post. and happy pub date to this book, and thank you so much Netgalley and Wattpad for an arc of this book.
