the one review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the one by Keira Cass. i gave this book 5/5 stars. i loved this book so much, and was a great wrap up for the story of America and Maxon.

one of my biggest issues with any romances, is when the main girls tells her friends or girls about the love interest and his/her secrets. granted, what America said just slipped, but i think she should have been more careful with this secret.

but, i feel like America wrote the really slutty dress, so she can grab Maxon’s attention, but she was already the prime person for this engagement, and everyone could see the love, so i don’t think it was a major part to the story.

another one of my favorite parts, was when Celeste and America became friends. i really loved the fact that in this whole series we are told that they hate each other, but now they are probably each others best friend in this whole process.

on a sadder note, everyone was dying. everyone that was close to Maxon or America, most likely died. but, i think it made each of them come into their skin and grow closer, since they both had these traumatic events in a matter of days.

but, i loved the proposal, even though there was quite a few of them. i loved how Maxon did the house, where he family could stay. i thought that was very cute, even though a whole other issue happened with Aspen and America.

in the end, i wish there was more of a wedding, or even a novella of the wedding. since, the whole series we waited for this wedding, but then we didn’t get anything other then Maxon getting a crown and America walking up the isle with Aspen, which i think is so stupid since he is your ex.

anyway, i hope you enjoy. i know this was quite positive, since the rest of mine are always so negative to say the least.

if i stay book review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about if i stay by Gayle Forman. i gave this book 2/5 stars. this book was a reread, needless to say, i didn’t like it as much as the first time.

one of my biggest issues, was the author used big and fancy words, that your everyday person doesn’t know. it almost seemed that the author didn’t even care that this book was wrote to a teenage audience. half of the words that where used, is something that nobody knew what they meant. i just found it super annoying.

i didn’t like how the backstory didn’t go in any order or made sense why this event was at this part of the book. personally, if i was the editor, i would have made it go from when the parents meet, then to the time of her and Adam.

on a more positive note, i liked the romance, a bit. but, i found it really weird that Adam and Mia where having sex with her parents and brother downstairs. it just made me uncomfortable. i still feel the romance was a little bit toxic.

overall, i think the book was boring and very dramatic. but, i also found Mia so annoying and also very dramatic at the same time.

but, i hope you enjoy. i wish i liked this book as much as i did the first time, but i sadly didn’t if you couldn’t tell. but, i hope you enjoy this review, even though it was me mostly complaining.

the queen and the prince review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the queen and the prince by Kiera Cass. i normally do not combine books when i review them, but they are both short books, so i thought i should just combine them together.

the queen-

one of my biggest issues was how there where characters, but we had no clue who any of them where. we never got any introduction about who they are, or what they meant to Clarkson or Amberly. it just made me so confused and that i couldn’t connect with the story so much.

but, i hate how Clarkson acts. they both saw this major, personal event in the palace, but then he completely shuns Amberly after. it was so annoying and i hated how it was written and played out.

on a more positive note, i love the ending and the engagement. i loved how cute and personal it was, but i felt like it was very close how America and Maxon’s second proposal was. since they where in the bedroom. but, i still thought it was cute and made up for most of the bad parts.

the prince-

i loved how we got Maxon’s pov. i liked how we saw the start and how the selection began. but, i still think it was stupid how Clarkson got to pick all of the girls and Maxon got to pick only one. no surprise, it’s America.

but, i found Maxon was quite a liar. he told the girls, but mostly just America that he was never with anyone else and didn’t have any interest in anyone, but we got him with Daphne and kissing her at a part. it was shocking and kinda annoying as i read the rest of the series.

this goes back to my first point, but i liked Maxon’s thoughts on each of the girls. we got more what he actually thought, and not just the petty things the other girls say, just like the Bachelor. i really liked how we got more of an ‘insider look’ on everything.’

that’s everything for today. i’m sorry that this is pretty short, but i couldn’t get into much thought since the books where roughly 90 pages each, so it’s hard not to get into spoilers. but, i hope you enjoy it.

February book releases

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books that are coming out in February, but just the ones that i am most excited for.

Yes, no, maybe so by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed. this book comes out February 4. from what i heard about this, it is a plotical romance, with parents on different sides. but, i’m not the biggest fan of these two authors, since i strongly dislike their books, but i’m hoping this one will be better.

straight on till morning by Liz Braswell. this one also comes out February 4. this is a peter pan retelling, and i haven’t read any other like a Peter Pan retelling. plus, i read a couple other books in this massive series, and i love them so much.

the gravity of us by Phil Stamper. this one also comes out February 4. i’m not going to lie, but i have no clue what this book is about, but i know its an LGBTQ+ romance. i also thought that this one came out in 2019, but i guess it didn’t.

Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen. this one comes out February 7. I’ve seen this one all over bookstagram, so it made me want to read it so much since everyone is talking and ravening about this. but, i know this one is compared to crazy rich Asians, and i love that movie so much that i had to pick it up eventually.

The last confession of Autumn Casterly by Meredith Tate. this one comes out February 11. this is a mystery, so i’m not going to say to much about it, since i personally want to know to much about it.

ink in the dark by Kim Smejkal. this one also comes out February 11. but, this is debut fantasy. but, this is about tattoos, magic, faith and theater. plus, i believe that this one is also a LGBTQ+ book.

the upside of falling by Alex Light. this one comes up February 18. this is a basic YA contempory, where the girl doesn’t have a boyfriend, but doesn’t believe in love. but, she falls for your football boy. i honestly feel like i haven’t read a ‘basic’ YA novel in a long time.

of curses and kisses by Sandhya Menon. this also comes out February 18. i know her other books get a whole lot of love, so i think it is time i read my first one, even though i own her other one. i know a whole lot of people have read this one and completely loved it.

the sound of stars by Alechia Dow. this one comes out February 25. i’m not sure what this book is about, but the description says aliens and pop culture. which made me want to read it so much, since i’m a massive fan of both.

i hope you enjoy this. i’m so excited for all of these books. if you couldn’t tell, i don’t read to many descriptions, just the first couple lines, hence why i do not know what to many of these are about. but, i hope i read at least a couple of these this month.

February TBR

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books that i plan on reading, but will probably not read. there is seven books, and i’ll probably get to three of them. but, anyway, i’ll just get into it.

the hazel wood and the night country by Melissa Albert. the hazel wood is a reread, and i feel that i should reread it since i want to get to the second one. but, the book is about Alice, who is the granddaughter of a famous writer, and she gets sucked into the world.

Power play by Ridley Pearson. this is actually a reread, and i’m so excited for this. i cannot say to much about it, since it’s the fourth book in the series. but, i cannot wait to go back to the characters and the story.

every other weekend by Abigail Johnson. i talked about this book in the January new releases i’m excited for. plus, i can’t wait to see how the romances happens.

city of bones by Cassie Clare. so this is going to be a reread so i can read the second book. but, i’m not to sure if i am even going to read this one, or just spark note the ending.

anyway, this was quite short, but i hope you enjoy this. there will be another tbr on Monday, for my contemporary a thon.

January wrap up

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books that i read this month. the selection and the elite have a review up, so you can go and check it out, but the rest will get some in the future. but this is also going to be quite long.

The Selection by Keria Cass. i gave this book 5/5 stars. i really liked it and loved the whole Bachelor aspect. this was actually a reread and i loved it so much more this time. but i hated aspen with a passion, but loved Maxon and America.

Scared little rabbits by AV Geiger. this was a dnf. i didn’t like all of the characters, since they where all so rude and the app was so stupid.

if i stay by Gayle Forman. i gave this book 2/5 stars. this was also a reread, and i completely picked it up because it was small. but, i founded it boring and Mia was annoying as hell.

the queen by Kiera Cass. i gave this book 4.5/5 stars. this is a novella about Queen Amberly. i really liked her, but found Clarkson annoying for most of the book.

the prince by Kiera Cass. i gave this book 4/5 star. I really loved the story in Maxon’s pov, but i hated Daphne with a passion.

the elite by Kiera Cass. i gave this book 4.5/5 stars. this would have been 5/5 stars if the whole Marlee parts wasn’t talked about it and how graphic it was. other then that, i loved Maxon and America before it got rocky as hell.

the one by Kiera Cass. i gave this book 5/5 stars. i loved how the story wrapped up, even though it was pretty sad. but, i wish the wedding was more of a bigger part of the book.

the heir by Kiera Cass. this one was also a dnf. i hated Maxon and America’s daughter with a passion. and like i said on my goodreads, “i don’t understand how two amazing people can create such a demon child.”

sick kids in love by Hannah Moskowitz. i gave this book 5/5 stars. i loved the characters and the romance. but, i wish the sickness was in the start to, not just the end.

not the girl you marry by Andie J Christopher. i dnfed this book, but will most likely pick it up sometime in the future. in the whole book, it was mostly them talking about dicks and not wanting to date.

Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare. i gave this book 2/5 stars. this was a school read, which i hated with a passion. i found everything so dramatic and way to much in love for 14 and 16 years old.

anyway, that is it. i know it was quite long, and i read another one, but i’ll just write it into February. but, i hope you enjoyed and had a great reading month.

January book haul

Hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books that i hauled this month. i got a three books, so this haul will be pretty short.

Everland by Wendy Spinale. i’m so excited to read this one because it is a peter pan retelling and i haven’t read anything that is someone similar to Peter Pan. plus, i think the author did a good job in moving it from the Disney story, but still somewhat similar.

the abundance of Katherine by John Green. i’m not sure why i bought this, since i don’t care for books that i read of him. but, i know many people don’t like this book compared to his other books. i still think most of the plot is going to be stupid.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber. not gonna lie, i never had a joy to read this. but, right before i bought it, i saw a bunch of people on instagram and good reads talking about this book. plus, i know Kerri Maniscalco loves this book and the author as a whole.

i hope you enjoyed this. i know that this was kinda negative at parts. but, they are just my honest opinions, but i’m still excited to read these.

the elite review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the elite by Kiera Cass. i gave this book 4.5/5 stars. i really enjoyed this book, but i had some minor issues, well i was really just one character.

one of the biggest issues i had was how Aspen and America still kissed and talked about how much he loves her and vise versa, when they just saw Marlee get beaten for the same circumstances. but you know, they still kissed and like it never happened.

on the same topic as the Marlee issue, i wish the book was written in a way that it was less graphic. we say everything happen, with all the beatings and the blood. this could potentially be a trigger if someone came from a house of abuse. i would definitely keep this in mind if this could bother you.

on a more positive note, i loved how the parents and siblings came in for Halloween. i thought it was a nice break from the stress of the whole situation. especially how America’s mom came in and got mad at America all the time.

i also enjoyed how Maxon ‘proposed.’ i liked how everything came together and they could really act like they are together together and showed how they love each other so much. but, i think Maxon really did America dirty by kissing Cleste in the hallway. it really just rubbed me the wrong way.

but, in the book as a whole, i think America didn’t think, she just acted. she pulled out a banned book, and thought that nothing is going to happened. i mean it has to be in the hidden library for a reason. but, she also said she was going to leave, in spite of the moment and it wasn’t even the first time. all she did was try to please the king, which i guess is a main thing, but you shouldn’t base you whole life all of him.

but, i hope you all enjoy. i loved this book a whole lot and as the series as a whole.

the selection review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the selection by Keira Cass. i gave this book 5/5 stars. this is also the first book i read in 2020, which i’m so happy about since i love it so much. but, i did have so issues, in the start and through out the book, well really just one of the characters. and since this is a reread, and the first time i read it, i have no clue what i thought about it, so we’ll just talk about what i thought this time.

one of my biggest issues was Aspen in general. there was a couple simple things that he did that drived me insane. for one, he kept saying how much he loves America and how much he cares for her. plus, he wanted to get married, when their parents and siblings. it was insane, and he couldn’t have loved her that much if he sent her to the selection.

another part that drived me crazy was America decided to take half of the money that her family and herself are making. and her family is a five, which basically means they are on the poor side. she comments multiple times how they are so poor, but she still decided to take some of the money. which to me, soundly utterly ridiculous.

on a more postive note, i really like Maxon and America together. do i think Maxon should have spent more time with the other girls? yes. but, i feel like Maxon only spent times with America and a couple other girls, and i wish that he spend time with more then just fiveish girls. i still feel that Maxon and America where very playful and natural with each other.

the next topic is just about kissing. i know it’s weird. but, i feel like Aspen had no right to go and kiss America once he becomes a guard. i found it annoying, and with knowledge that i have from reading the next book, this is so stupid and putting their life on the line. plus, like Aspen said, “your property of the palace so i shouldn’t do this.” which for one, i’ll talk more about and two, he knew that this was wrong, so why did he do it. on a lighter and nicer side, i liked how America didn’t kiss and tell the girls when her and maxon kissed.

back to the property of the palace. this drived me crazy since they are human begins, and aren’t anyone’s property. granted, this book was wrote years ago, and we had different issues, but i don’t think this should be brushed under the rug, even if it was years ago.

i had a couple little issues which i’ll just mention quickly in the start the caste system made no sense, the rebels had no real meaning but to cause suspense and is all the girls okay, most of the girls didn’t care about Maxon that much, and i wish this was told in 2 povs, Maxon and America and what they think.

anyway, that is everything that i have to say about the book. granted, there is a couple other little things, which i won’t get into since they are petty, little things. but, i hope you enjoy this, i definitely had fun rereading this book.

Defending Taylor review

hello everyone! today i am going to talk about Defending Taylor by Miranda Kenneally. i gave this book 4/5 stars. as a whole, i enjoyed this book a lot, but i did have some issues, which i’ll talk about more.

one of my biggest issues was, everything went in circles. we got to one point, but then it went back. for example, we got to a point with Taylor and Ezra together, but then Taylor would go back to talking about Ben. and it kept happening, but also with the drug.

another issue was all she did was talk about Ben. even when she was with Ezra, and in a happy relationship, she went back to talking about her ex. it was super annoying, since she kept saying she was happy with Ezra and in love so much.

all she does was say how bad her high school was and how everyone was so mean to her. and yeah, i can see her point, but she was doing nothing to help her situation. Taylor kept trying to be the queen bee in the soccer team when they already had a captain. she didn’t even try to find new friends and become friendly with the girls.

if you read any of my reviews, you know i hate when authors use words over and over again, but Miranda Kenneally definitely use that. every other word was Ezra, Yale or soccer. but, horny and Senator where also used a crap ton. it was overall annoying.

when Ollie found out Ezra and Taylor where like, “oh my god i couldn’t believe it. how could he find out?” when they were having sex and kissing in her room, which is the same house Ollie lives in. he was going to figure out eventually, if you tell him or not.

anyway, that’s it for today. i hope you enjoyed this post. i found Taylor super annoying, but it might just have been me. but, i’ll see you in the next post.
