October new releases

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the new books that are coming out in October that i’m excited for. i honestly feel like there are a ton of books coming out in October, since this is the time that publishers publish everything before Christmas. so, this might be a bit of a long on, but who really knows at this point.

kingdom of the wicked by Kerri Maniscalo. this book comes out October 27th. this was probably my most anticipated book of 2020, and cannot wait to get into this book, and just like hold it in my hands, since i’m one of the ten people that didn’t get an ARC. but, this is an enemies to lovers story, all about Emilia, who is a witch, and when she found her twin sister is found dead, her whole world falls upside down. but, then she meets Wrath, who is one of the wicked ones, but he promises to help solve the murders in the island, but Emilia trusts Wrath even though she is told never to trust a Wicked one.

broken wish by Julie C. Dao. this book comes out October 6th. so, this book sounds so amazing, and i just need to read my arc, but i just keep putting it off. but, this book is all about 16 year old Elva, who has this massive secrets, she gets visions and strange powers nobody else has. i’m not going to say to much about this book, since i feel like there was a lot of spoilers, and things that could be taken as a spoiler.

we were restless things by Cole Nagamatsu. this book comes out October 6th. this is a contemporary, fantasy, and mystery books all rolled into one book. but, this is a book about three teenagers who are all brought together by this other death that they all knew. i also think this book is LGBTQ plot or something, so it sound so amazing.

the invisible life of Addie LuRue by VE Schwab. this book is literally all over bookstagram and all over the internet in general. so, i’m not going to sit here and tell you what this is about, since everything and everyone knows what this book is about. so, yeah, i’m really excited to get into this book and get into this world. and this is also becoming a movie, so i’m just so excited for that too.

charming is a verb by Ben Philippe. this book comes out October 13th. i’m honestly so excited to get into this book, and just see how they make charming a verb. but, this is all about this main character who charms the boots off of literally everyone he meets. but, of course there is this girl at his school who is completely immune to his charming. so, you all know how this ends and i don’t need to spell it out for you.

a Cuban girl’s guide to tea and tomorrow by Laura Taylor Namey. this book honestly sounds so amazing, and just such a cute book. but, this is all about this Cuban girl who is this master at creating Cuban cusisine, and wants to run her parents Cuban restaurant, but then they ship her away from their Miami house and then send her to London for the summer.

crazy stupid bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams. this book comes out October 27th. this is the third book in the bromance book club, and i honestly cannot wait to read this book. and, this is all about Liv’s friend from book 2 that owned the coffee shop, and then Noah, who i think is in the book club. and there’s cats on the cover, so i’m so excited to get into this book.

five total strangers by Natalie D Richards. this book comes out October 6th. this book honestly sounds like such a crazy read, but like so good and amazing. but, this book is all about Mira who is flying home for Christmas, but there’s a total blizzard coming down. but, she’s in a car with four other people who she does not know at all. as someone who has been threw multiple blizzards, this just sounds so cool and like so amazing to see how this has played out.

anyway, that is it for today! this was kinda shorter then i anticipated, but i’m going to make one sometime later in the month about the spooky books that are coming out this month. but, if there are any spelling or grammar mistakes, i’m sorry since my dyslexia is all over the place, and it’s getting really hard just to do this, and it’s honestly giving me a headache just trying to write this and whatnot.

HALLOWEEN MOVIE BINGO- HALLOWEENTOWN

BOOK WITH A CAR ON THE COVER-

lies behind the woods by Bradly Cornish. this prompt was so hard to do, and it took me forever to figure out a book with a car, even though i picked out the prompts. but, then i went to my netgalley and saw this one. but, this book is all about this man who wants to go on a relating vacation, but then witnesses a kidnapping and everything goes up in flames.

SOPHIE PIPER- A MIDDLE GRADE-

part of your world by Vera Strange. honestly, i have talked about this book in multiple blog posts and also a ton on Instagram. and honestly cannot wait to read this. but, this book is all about this 11 year old girl, who has nothing working in her favor, but she just wants to be popular. but, when she gets the chance to get everything she could ever want, even if it is talking about the famous sea witch, Ursula.

MARNIE PIPER- A YA NOVEL-

Cinderella is dead by Kalynn Bayron. i’ve actually started this book, and honestly this book is so amazing and i just love this book so much. but, this book is all about the town of Lillie, 200 years after Cinderella has died. but, now all the teenage girls have to attend this royal ball to find their suitor. but, the catch is, Sophia would rather marry her best friend, Erin, instead of any man she’ll ever meet.

BOOK WITH MAGIC-

rebel rose by Emma Theriault. i am honestly so excited to read this book, and since this book is all about the disney princesses, don’t quote me on this, but i think that there will be one for each princesses, so that is so excited. but, if you couldn’t tell, this book is all about Belle, and how she wants to balance her whole queen stuff. this whole thing does not make sense whatsoever, but just look at it on goodreads and this will all make sense.

THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS-

FRIEND CHOOSES YOUR READ-

the grace year by Kim Liggett. this book has been on my radar for a long time, and when my friend picked this, even though i kinda told her to pick one of these three books, so anyway she still picked this. but, i’ve felt that this book was the handmaids tale meets lord of the flies meets hunger games, so this just sounds so amazing. and i feel like this whole story book just sounds so cool and interesting.

FEATURES A MORALLY GREY CHARACTER-

twilight by Stephanie Meyer. so i had no plans to read this whole series again, but then midnight sun punched me in the feels, so now i’m going to reread all of these books. so, and since Edward is Edward, and generally speaking is a morally grey character, he saved this prompt.

A SPOOKY FANTASY-

haunting of the hill house by Shirley Jackson. i’m not really sure if this book even is a fantasy, but we’ll just roll with it. but, i think that this book sound so cool. and like everyone is talking about this book on book twitter, so like i decided that i should just pick it up. but, i’m so scared to read this book, since i have no clue what to expect.

SCARY ROMANCE BOOKS-

there’s someone inside your house by Stephanie Perkins. this book will also be a reread for this book, and i’m so pumped to read it. and i think that this would be so amazing. but, i’m kinda scared that i will hate this book, or of i will love it again. but, this book is all about this girl in the school dies. and i honestly am kinda scared to read this book, so who knows.

SCREAM-

BOOK PUBLISHED IN THE 90S-

whisper of death by Christopher Pike. so, i believe that i do own this book, but honestly i own so many books like this, i have no clue. but, this is about this teenage couple with a bunch of problems, and they decide to leave the town after all these issues. but when they return back to their home town, nobody is there, and their town is completely empty.

HYPED BOOK-

burn our bodies down by Rory Power. i am honestly so excited to read this book. and, to me i think that this book sounds so spooky from what i heard, and just like a good Halloween type book. i honestly don’t know to much about this, so i’m not gonna explain it. but i do think that this book is an LGBTQ+ so, that honestly sounds amazing.

HAUNT-

FEATURES A HAUNTED HOUSE-

the haunting of the hill house by Shirley Jackson. i’ve already talked about this book, so there is no need to go over everything again. but, i honestly don’t know if this even has a haunted house, but there is house in the title, so maybe it will fit.

A BOOK THAT WILL SCARE YOU-

first to lie by Hank Phillippi Ryan. honestly, this whole book kinda scares me, honestly it fits. but, this book is all about a reporter who gets this cast, but she goes in way to deep, and everything goes up in flames because of it. and i honestly think this book is going to be one big mind game and so twisted, so it kinda scares me.

FEAR STREET-

CLASSIC FEAR STREET BOOK-

the dead end by RL Stine. this would be a reread for this book, and i think i read it before goodreads, or i just did not log it. but, this book is all about a group of teenage friends who all carry this secret about how somebody died at the dead end of the road.

FEAR STREET RELAUNCH BOOK-

don’t stay up to late by RL Stine. i know for a fact that i read this book before, i buddy read this with my mom before i knew what buddy reading was. but, this book is all about high school teenager, Lisa, has dealt with nightmares and hallucinations since the car crash that landed her dad dead and her mom in the hospital. but, when the her next door neighbor asks her to watch her young son, she jumps on the chance to get our of her house.

GOOSEBUMPS-

READ A GOOSEBUMPS BOOK-

the haunted mask by RL Stine. i’ve already read this book, and had no plans to reread this, but then this is one of the only audiobooks my library has for goosebumps, so we are just going to have to roll with it. but, i’m not going to explain this book, since everyone and their mother has read this sometime in their life. and to i think that this is kinda cool since it’s all about a mask, and we are in a pandemic and have to wear a mask.

READERS CHOICE-

hidden bones by Vivian Bones. so, this book is all about a couple, she’s a police officer and then he’s a college professor. and then they already solved this cold case, but then more murders come around once they go into this new town. so, that description was kinda all over the place, so if you want a better description, just look it up and you’ll get everything in a more cohesive manner.

SCREAM A THON-

FEATURES A GAME-

party games by RL Stine. this book will also be a reread and i honestly am pretty excited for this book. i mean, this book is all about this big story, and i think that this whole audiobook will be somewhat decent. but, this whole book is about Brandon Fear who throws this massive birthday party on Fear Island. But, Brandon created this game, and then a new game comes out, a game of murder.

CLASSIC HORROR NOVEL-

the haunting of the hill house by Shirley Jackson. i’m not going to explain this one whatsoever, but i do think that this would still be decent yet again.

BOOK FFEATURES THE UNDEAD-

undead girl gang by Lily Anderson. i personally have no clue if this book has the actually undead, but it still had undead in the title, so it has to have the undead. but, this book is all about these two best friends who start to go into witchcraft. this book is also all about them doing this pact about bring girl back to life.

HYPED BOOK-

burn our bodies down by Rory Power. i’ve already talked about this book a little bit, but this book. but, i do think that this book is going to kinda scary, since the other book she wrote was kinda insane from what i heard.

HOCUS POCUS- TEAM UNDEAD

GROUP BOOK-

cemetery boys by Aiden Thomas. i honestly have no clue if i’ll actually read this book, since i kind of want to read the physically and i only have the e book. but, i still want to read this book so much, and since it got to be on the best sellers list. and this sounds so spooky about ghosts and i believe it features a trans characters.

FEATURES A FAMILY-

mexican gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. i’m not really sure if this book actually features a full family. but this book does have a a sisterly relationship. which, is also a good thing in my mind. i honestly do not want to know that much about it, but i’ve heard that this book has a lot of talk about cults and suicide.

MORALLY GREY CHARACTER-

twilight by Stephanie Meyer.i believe i already talked about this book a little bit, but i mean edward cullen is the og morally grey character, so what other book could i pick? and i also had a hard time figuring out a morally grey character, so you know.

GHOST OR PARANORMAL-

the woman outside my door by Rachel Ryan. i don’t believe this book actually features a ghost or paranormal character, but it does feature an imaginary friend, so technically it might and from what i can tell it is going to have something to do with ghosts. but, i still think this would be a decent book, to some degree.

TRICK OR TREAT A THON-

WITCH- A BOOK WIHT A FEMALE CHARACTER WHO WILL HEX YOU IF YOU MESS WITH HER-

huger games by Suzanne Collins. i’ve already started listening to this audio book, and holy crap i literally love this book so goddamn much. and i think that this whole books is so cool, and the whole idea is so amazing. but, i do think that idea of kids killing kids is really weird of a idea, but i still really like this book.

VAMPIRE- A LOVE INTREST THAT YOU DON’T WANT TO MEET IN A DARK ALLEY-

life and death by Stephanie Meyer. as much as i don’t want to mess with Edythe, i just did this since it involves a vampire and for how ironic it was. but, also the fact that they have the whole part in the alley. but, anyway i hope the audio book is somewhat decent, so yeah.

WEREWOLF- READ THIS BOOK ONLY AT NIGHT-

down world by Rebecca Phelps. look, i’m probably just not going to read this in the nighttime, but i most likely read a lot of this at night. but, this book is all about this stranger things meets dark, which sounds so good. but, this whole book take a good amount of place in a school basement with some supernatural experiments going on. the description is so all over the place, so just goodreads it yet again.

GHOST- A PLACE YOU WOULD WANT TO HAUNT-

truely devious by Maureen Johnson. i don’t necessarily want to be stuck in a high school forever, but i do think that just leaving in this boarding school would be so cool, especially with the whole fact a murder mystery would go on. but, the whole back and forth mystery sounds kinda weird and makes me really scared, but who knows.

DEMON- MORE THAN ONE POV-

lies you never told me by Jennifer Donaldson. i consider this book one of my favorites, so i’m so excited to read this again. but this story is all about Gabe and Elyse are two high school teenagers that have different things they want. Elyse wants to be in a high school play of Romeo and Juliet, and Gabe wants to break up with his popular high school girlfriend. but, these two people have one thing in common, they messed with the wrong people.

SIREN- A BOOK THAT GOT RECOMMENDTO YOU-

horrid by Katrina Leno. this is probably the book i’ll read last on this list, since i just got the book. but, this is a ghost story about Jane, who just lost her father, and then gets moved to her mothers old house in New England. when she gets there and fall is slowly arriving, Jane find the old “storage room” which is a child girls bedroom which is just untouched.

FAE- A BOOK I’M SCARED TO PICK UP-

the wives by Tarryn Fisher. okay, i’ve heard some really bad reviews for this book, which just makes me so scared to pick it up. but, this follows around a married couple, Thursday and Seth, but here’s the catch, Seth has two other wives besides Thursday. and then everything goes crazy.

ZOMBIES- FEATURES A DISASTER-

burn our bodies down by Rory Power. i honestly have no clue if this actually features a disaster, but i know it has some huge fire in some part of the book, so let’s just say it features a disaster.

SBOOKTOBER- TEAM FESTIVE-

A FACE ON THE COVER-

the dead boyfriend by RL Stine. let me tell you, it was so hard to find a book with a face on the cover, like a real face, where you can actually see their features. but, i honestly am so excited to read this, and like jump back into this twisted story, even though i remember a lot about this book from the last time i read this.

SINK YOUR TEETH INTO-

life and death by Stephanie Meyer. look, here’s the thing, i’m doing this all for the puns. cause Edythe is a vampire, and SHE CAN SINK YOUR TEETH INTO YOU. i’m sorry if that is cringey, but i laughed for like 10 minutes about the fact. so, yeah, hopefully i’ll read this and make comments about it.

A BOOK THAT I GOT WARNED ABOUT-

i killed Zoe Spanos by Kit Frick. i’ve got warned about this book a ton, since i heard it’s like a big mind game, and i think that this book sounds just so cool but, this book is all about Anna Cicconi, who arrives in this small town bearing a massive resemblance to this girl that just went missing, Zoe Spanos. but, Anna dives into this case, and realizes some things that she didn’t want to know. and two months after Anna arrives, Zoe’s body is found and Anna gets charged with manslaughter.

ANIMAL ON THE COVER-

one evil summer by RL Stine. this prompt was so hard to find a spooky book with an animal on the cover i was actually interested in. but, you can never really go wrong with an RL Stine book, so i’m so excited for this book, and i’ve already started this and it’s just so strange, but i’m still so excited to finsih this bad boy.

BOOK YOOU THINK YOU’LL LOVE-

the cheerleaders by Kara Thomas. i’ve honestly seen this book all over goodreads and just the bookish world all over the place, and i’m so excited to get into this story. and i really think that this book just sounds so amazing and i think that this would be so interesting to understand this murder mystery world and whatnot.

anyway, that is it for today! this whole blog post probably made no sense whatsoever, since it was all over the place. but, if you want to read any of these books, make sure if you check out any of these book to check the trigger warnings. but, i still hope you enjoy this post to some degree.

September wrap up

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books i read this month. i read nine books this month, and most of them where really bad, or the first book i’ll talk about i have no clue what happened in it, since i was so sick and i just couldn’t tell you what happened. so, i just like rated it 5 stars.

midnight sun by Stephanie Meyer. i gave this book 5/5 stars. if you couldn’t tell, this was the book that i just rated 5 stars. since, for me, i had covid and i just was reading this, but i couldn’t tell you one thing that happened besides Emmett an Edward in spanish class. but, i still felt so much nostalgia when i read this book, since twilight pretty much founded my read life.

Lore by Alexandra Bracken. i gave this book 3/5 stars. so, this book was only like a chapter sampler, so i didn’t read the full book. but, this book was only like 97 pages, but i still have some taught. basically, the main issue for me was the fact that this book was literally all over the place and nothing made sense. but, this book was so much like percy jackson, it was kinda crazy.

get a life, Chole Brown by Talia Hibbert. i gave this book 4/5 stars. honest to god, this book was so good, but it had some moments i was like “what the hell was happening.” but, this book was still decent, and the romance was pretty good, which was kinda shocking to me, since i thought i’d hate it.

you had me at hola by Alexis Daria. i gave this book 2/5 stars. this book was so cool, since everyone in this book was Latinx, which was so cool, especially in a book about Hollywood. but, i think that everyone in this book was so annoying and they all where just babies and just like always thought about themselves, and their job, not a tv show with all non white tv show or movie.

without merit by Colleen Hoover. i gave this book 1/5 stars. this book was a honestly boring book, and it was just a hot mess, and it was all over the place. and this book was pretty much jut about sex, and it got to be a hot mess, since just made me uncomfortable at parts, and i’m not going to say why did made me uncomfortable here, it will be in my review, whenever that goes up.

all the broken people by Leah Konen. i gave this book 3/5 stars. very generally speaking, this book was pretty decent, it wasn’t the best mystery/thriller i ever read, but it far wasn’t the worst. and generally speaking it was so cool one minute, but the next it was a hot mess the next, which at parts i couldn’t handle, since it was all over the place.

just a boy and a girl in a little canoe by Sarah Mlynowski. i gave this book 1/5 stars. this book was so freaking bad, and i just liked hated so much of the plot and the characters and literally everything was just so annoying and like it was so childish. and like, this whole book was just so cringey and like an freaking hotmess, and i did not like this book whatsoever. you’ll definitely see this book on a blog post later this year, if you know what i’m getting at.

the falling in love montage by Ciara Smyth. i gave this book 2/5 stars. honestly, i wanted to love this book so much, but i just could not get into this. like i tried so hard, but this whole book was just not it for me. like, the romance was not good, but i couldn’t like agree with some of the choices and other things that happened in this book. and like i like rom coms, but the whole rom com part of this book just felt so rushed and not that good.

who i was with her by Nita Tyndall. i gave this book 3/5 stars. honestly, this book was a good book, and i really enjoyed it. but, i do feel like we never really got a good grieving process in this book. which is something i really wanted. and it also really annoyed me that the whole romances where a secrets, and we never got to see the most of the romances.

anyway, that is for today! like i said, i kinda had a shitty reading month, but i hope that october will be so much better with all of these spooky books, and i can just have better star ratings then this. and hopefully i’ll just read more book all together.

September book haul

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books i hauled this month. i definitely didn’t haul that many books this month, since i like stopped going on netgalley everyday and just requested. so like, that’s amazing. but, i still did get some, so they’ll all be talked about in here.

horrid by Katrina Leno. i got this book in my monthly owlcrate, and i’m so excited to read this book in the spooky season. and i mean, this just sounds like such a good ghost story. and i honestly hope this has a good topic about grief and is still super mystery and thriller.

love your life by Sophie Kinsella. so this book comes out January October 21st. i am honestly kinda scared to read this, since i feel like this book could be so cute, or like so cringey. but, i have high hopes that this will be cute since it’s set around Christmas, so hopefully it’s like one big Hallmark movies, so fingers crossed.

down world by Rebecca Phelps. this book comes out March 31st, 2021. i also plan to read this also in October, since it does seem a little spooky. and this seems so cool and this is compared to Stranger things, which i haven’t seen, but this just seems like so interesting and cool, and since this is set in a high school basement, and i just hope it sticks up to the hype i’ve built up for this.

the woman outside my door by Rachel Ryan. this book comes out January 5, 2021. i also really want to read this book in October, and i feel like this would be so good. but, this book is all about this mother and son, and this kid in younger, and then the son dreams up this imagery friend. i probably didn’t explain this well. but, you get the point.

as far as you’ll take me by Phil Stamper. this book comes out February 9th, 2021. here’s a little story time, i completely did not think that i would get this arc, and when i did i was in math class and i was so freaked out, but so happy. but, this book sounds like the perfect coming of age story about finding yourself in a new city.

love is s revolution by Renee Watson. this book comes out February 2, 2021. this honestly sounds so cute, and just a light fluffy read. basically, this book is about our Black and Plus size main character, Nala, who meets this activist Tye. but, this book is kinda giving me Michelle and Brock Obama love story vibes.

the girls are all so nice here by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn. this comes out March 9, 2021. honestly, i don’t even know how to describe this book, but i can just tell that this book is going to be a wild ride. but, basically Amb gets an invitation for her high school reunion in the mail and now she has to comfort the past that she tried to leave behind.

kisses and croissants by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau. this comes out April 6th, 2021. this whole book is giving me really strong to all the boys i’ve loved before and love and gelato vibes just from the description. and also, this book is set in freaking paris, so i hope it is so romantic and cute, and just everything i’ll want to read in the christmas months.

city of the plague of god by Sarwat Chadda. this book comes out January 21st, 2021. okay, this book sounds so amazing, and everything i could want in a book. the book features a Muslim boy that lives in New York, and has some sort of mythology. and also let’s just talk about the cover, it is so freaking beautiful. but, i’m kinda scared cause it does have rick’s name on the cover and we all probably know the whole Muslim issue in the one book.

anyway, that’s all for today! i honestly hauled so many great books, and i cannot wait to read all of these, hopefully sometime soon, but we all know how that goes. but, i hope you enjoyed reading this post!

i read 5 | let read some hyped book

Hello everyone! Today i am going to be doing another I read 5! I believe that i’ve done two other ones like this, and so technically this is the third installment in this series. So, for this i read 5, it is going to be all about hyped up books in the book community, or really just in general. There is 1 adult book, it’s going to be the first one, and then the rest are going to be strictly YA. i will also try and link all my reviews, if they have one up, which i think they all do.  Since these are technically mini reviews that all pertain to a theme, i’m going to be talking about all these books in five different paragraphs.

  1. My general thoughts, star rating, author, and my bigger review link.
  2. My opinions on the characters, and did i like them, or did i hate them.
  3. Is the plot good? Is the plot crap? Does it even have a plot?
  4. How was the writing? Was the writing good? Did this book need more editing?
  5. Do I recommend this book? Are there any triggers for this book?

The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. i gave this book 5/5 stars. In my mind, this was honestly such a generous rating, since i did have some issues, but i really figured them out fully when i was writing my review, and then i would have to change my wrap up, goodreads, and then my planner, so we will just so with this. I’m not saying that it is a bad book, it just had moments that i can do without and whatever. You can find my review for this book here

I personally really liked all the characters in this book. To me, i feel like all the characters were very complex and overall very interesting characters. I also think it was super cool how there were so many different backstories and other info about their life before Evelyn. But, to me i feel like most of the characters didn’t have that much of a part, like there were three or so of her husbands that just had three pages, which was very annoying since they are like the whole plot of this book. As for the main characters, i really loved Harry Cameron and he was like the perfect character and the perfect husband in so many ways. But, i never really saw the hype around Celica St. James, and i think that she was kinda rude and a bitch in some parts. But, i might have an unpopular opinion because a lot of people say they hate Harry but love Celica, so who knows. I also thought Evelyn had her moments, like some parts she was a good character and person, then she would like to turn around and be this lying and sneaky person, which I didn’t really care for. And then for Monique, i really hated her, since she was so homophobic and i just can’t get behind that, even if it is in a book.

As for the plot of this book, I honestly don’t even know what it is. Like, it might be the fact that she had like 7 husbands, but who even knows at this point. Like, i might just like to say that the plot could have been the marriages and hook ups and the baby and whatever. But, i still think if you are going into this book, don’t expect this amazing plot, since it was slow and just didn’t have one that slapped you in the face. And like it wasn’t just like fleshed out well enough in my mind, and i just wish it was better.

On the other hand, i thought the writing in this book was pretty good. Like, there were moments that i just felt like there was a lot of homophobia, which just pissed me off so much. But, i think that there were moments that i was so good, and it really drew me in. i do feel like the homophobia was kinda hard to forgive in some sense. But, i do really like the whole part of the book with the newspapers and tv broadcasting, since it just added and made the story so much better. But, i do think some of the writing got shaky at parts, like mostly when they were talking about some of the husbands. But, i do think most of the writing was just on point, and it was so amazing. But, like i really had high hopes, since i loved daisy jones and the six.

Now, we are going to be talking about the trigger warnings and is this book actually good. So for trigger warnings- homopobia and hatred to those sexualities, parental abuse, car crash which resulted in death, parental death, domestic abuse, faking a miscarriage, abortion, suicide. And now let’s talk about do i recommend this book, generally speaking, i think this book was so good, and that so many people should read this, but this book isn’t for everyone. Like i feel like this is one of those books that are for people younger than like 30, and it doesn’t like to go to people above that age, but that is just my personal opinion.

So, now for book number 2. The next book is they went left by Monica Hessa. I gave this book 3/ 5 stars. Honestly, this was a decent book, and i thought some of this book had it’s moments that we’re bad, and then it’s good moments, which of course will all be broken down. But, i still do think that this book is still good enough that i really want to read more of Hessa’s books. And you can find my full review here

Talking about the characters in this book is just so strange, and i feel honestly kinda rude just like saying that i have issues with some of these characters. So, our main character Zofia was honestly so kick ass, and just put her mind to do something, she did it, and she did it good. And i really loved the whole plot of her traveling countries just to find her brother. And i just loved her, but she still was kinda dramatic, which got annoying. Dima had such a short part of this book, but god damn, i literally thought he was like the perfect book male, even though he had a small part. Alec was honestly kind of a baby, even though he was like 12, but i still had a little issues with, and that he cried so much, it was just kind of annoying. But, I generally think all these characters were so amazing and so well written.

Very very generally speaking, i thought the plot was decent, and from a far, it was really good and looked like such an amazing plot point, and it showed the real reason why family is so important, and whatnot. But, as you get closer and actually read this book from front to back, it gets kinda shitty and a hot mess. My biggest issue with this whole book was that everyone had this happy ending, and all these parts where everyone is happy and happy with their life post war. But, then we get Zofia, is like so stuck in the war set of mind, and wouldn’t move on. And i know the PTSD and everything that comes from war, but it just annoyed me about how she never liked moving on, and then how much it went into the plot, and just how unhappy she is.and very generally speaking, she very much never moved on from the past.

To me, the whole writing was literally so good and captivating and i really loved on how everything was  brought up, and then all of the author wrote about was very well researched, and it honestly made the book seem more real, and i’m really excited about the fact that everything felt so real, and very like something that you can have fun with reading, but then also learn a lot from. And, to me, I think that the author had all the history and facts throughout the book, but then it also had those fun moments with friends and then the little romances here and there.

Okay, so now for the trigger warnings, death of many family members, war, PTSD. i highly recommend this book so much. It was honestly such a good book, even though it had it’s boring parts. But, I do think that this book showed that family is everything and whatnot. And i feel like you can really grow from the book and see how the characters live. I honestly feel like this book would be a great book for high school kids.

So, the next book in this i read 5 is Crave by Tracy Wolff. I have this book 1/5 stars. This book was honestly so bad, and i really hated all the characters and literally everything about this book. To me, it’s a miracle that i gave this book 1 star, when it should really be like -3829101. So, if that doesn’t give you a clue how bad this was, now you know. And you can find my review here

Let’s talk about the characters for a hot second. To me, all the characters were literally so bad anc so freaking cringey. For example, the main character Grace, just tired so freaking hard to not like other girls and to be so different, when she was the most stereotypical teenager i have ever seen. And this went on for pages and pages and pages of this crap. So, now the love interest. Jaxon was that stereotypical villain in those stupid YA books, and espcially when they try to write this stupid vampire romance. And i know vampires are fake, so who knows and cares how we write them, but the writing of him was just so generic and was kinda like edward cullen, but tried to be more badass (and failed.)

Okay, so now the plot of this book. Needless to say, this book didn’t have a plot whatsoever, and tried hard, but it was literally like “well my parents are dead, so i have to like move to Alaska and then there is this super hot guy, oh wait, there’s two super hot guys. Oh and everyone is either witch, vampire, or dragon” so yeah, there you go. And i don’t if that drew you in, but it’s basically just like all those old YA books mashed into one book. And the sad part is, those books are probably going to be better, since they are more original.

To me, the writing wasn’t even that good. Like, i can tell that this author tried so hard to write this book, but it wasn’t good to any degree. I mean, i can tell you till I can’t breathe anymore, but the author tried so hard to write like one of those teenagers would write, and then tried to be funny for teenagers. And, guess what, it was not funny, and it was like so cringey, since of this terrible writing style, and just the fact that she tried so freaking hard.

And now, do i recommend this book. The simple answer is, hell no. this book was such a hot mess, and this whole book tried to be like ‘i’m not like other books.” and the simple answer is this book just did not sparkle. And there are no trigger warnings, unless you count wanting to bang your head against the table for the whole 550+ page book.

So, now for the last review that isn’t a dnf, is a song below water by Bethany C Morrow. I gave this book 2/5 stars. This book honestly has so much potential, but like this book just fell so short for me, and like just did not make sense whatsoever. One of the main plot points of this book is the mermaid and siren, which a lot of people know about, but wasn’t explained at all, and i’ll explain more later. Anyway, you can find my full review right here

First thing first, let’s talk about the characters in this book. These characters were okay characters, like some of them can be very complex and written about in a good way, but then there was a decent amount of characters that weren’t good. Like, for me, i found that the sisters were so similar, and it got to the point that it was hard to figure out who was telling the story, and which sisters did whatever. So, it was just so hard to pull them apart. I also didn’t understand the whole part about the youtuber, like everything just doesn’t click in a way, and i don’t understand what was happening with her.

Now onto the plot of this book. This plot was decent, it was a great read about racism and social justice and also current politics. But, in more of a fantastical setting. And, the plot was so great and had so much potential, and also the fact that there were mermaids and sirens and gargoyles and spirits, (i don’t think i spelled it right, but, we will go with it.) and, everyone knows a decent amount about mermaids and sirens since there’s movies and tv shows and also books. So, it wasn’t that hard to figure it out, but it was still hard to understand it, since of course it would change a little bit, so i didn’t quite understand it. And then the whole gargoyle part was so confusing and just a hot mess, and nothing made sense whatsoever. And then i have no freaking clue what a spirit is, and like i tried to google it, but i still don’t understand what it was, and i wish the author just took time to explain this on what it is.

So, let’s talk about the writing. Take what i already said into account, but the book was decent, and i think that the book had okay writing. Like, i can’t tell you 100%, since i did listen to the audio book, i can’t really talk that much. But, i feel like it was still good writing and it did draw me in, but i just wish things were explained more and everything wasn’t just so choppy.

I do still recommend this book for people to read, even if I didn’t like it that much. But, it still had a good message and it is a very powerful message for people, but also teenagers. There also isn’t any trigger warnings, since the fact that this is mostly magical, but there are some parts where they do talk about injustices and then race, and there also is a little bit of bullying.

Now, for the only book that i dnfed, is bone crier’s moon by Kathryn Purdie. So, i wanted to love this book so much, but this just literally made no sense to me. Like the author would just like to talk about how the bones and then just like random stuff that was not really described, which just to be so annoying since nothing got explained. And like ia slo don’t understand the world, and how the guys on the cover dad died, but it was confusing, so i just decided to dnf.

Anyway, that’s it for today. This was honestly one of my longer blog posts, since i had so much i needed to talk about. And, of course i just started rambling over and over, and that just made everything longer. But, i do have more ideas similar to this, so let me know if you want me to do more posts like this, and maybe a little shorter. But, anyway i hoped you enjoyed this long ass posts.

beneath a sugar sky review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about beneath a sugar sky by Seanan McGuire. i gave this book 1/5 stars. this post will be super short, since i hated this book, and it was so triggering. so, this book and also this blog post will have major trigger warnings for eating disorders and weight.

the biggest issue with this book in my mind is that there is all this negative talk about Cora’s weight. there’s pages and pages about how ugly she was because of her weight and that she can never be pretty. and, i’ve dealt with weight and body image and also eating disorders in my life, and this book was so triggering. and just honestly this book was so terrible. i mean, i can normally get threw a couple of pages, and maybe even a couple chapters of talk about weight, but this was honestly to the extreme. like whenever there was a remotely active scene, she would be like “i’m so fat, and i’m unhealthy,” and then she would be like “we’ll i did swimming, but i’m still fat.” and it was just so insane, and i just hated it with a passion.

there was also SO much bodyshamming in this book. so, to set the table, there was this girl who fell out of the sky, aka Candyland, and she’s naked. and mind you, the two people that she this girl naked is two girls, and they to the extent to be like, “you shouldn’t be happy with your body and show it to everyone.” and this happened over and over again, and mind you this is girls to girl and then they are all under the age of 18. and, going back again, but then they have one of the male leads, comes in and he’s like “oh she’s naked, but it’s fine cause it’s her body.” so, at least he has some common sense, that isn’t that common anymore.

but, i was also out of my mind bored. like, generally speaking this whole book was just like so bad, and like literally nothing happened. and, like there was a lot of parts that had so many good moments, or moments that could’ve been good, but just fell to the side of and weren’t good at all. like a good portion of this book i just wanted to bang my head against the desk repeatedly.

i also did listen to the audio book for this book, if that means anything to you. but, if you are going to read this book, i highly recommend not listening to the audio book, and either going physical or e book, cause the narrators voice was honestly so bad, and i just hated everything about it. and it might just be me, but i could not get into this book and it was honestly hard to get into it.

and honestly this book was just was so directionless. and i feel like this book has so much potential, but it was just not it. like the easiest way to describe this book, is one of those tumblr fan fictions that we all used to read/write years ago, that had no plot and was just a mix of words together. and this whole book just like didn’t make sense to me, and it was just a hot mess.

and also this book has literally no plot. and i was so shocked when it didn’t have one, since the other books had such good plots, and it was like so amazing. but, the whole plot of this book was vagina’s and sugar.

i also thought it was really cool that we got to be in Candyland. and it was so cool because we were in freaking Candyland and like we always played this game as a kid 24/7 and like this would just be so cool to read about it, even if it was a little different, it was so cool and whatnot. so, that is really the only good part of this book, which is kind of upsetting.

anyway, that’s all for today! honestly, this book was so bad, and I don’t think i need to justify my hatred for this book, since it was so negative about (mostly) woman. and i don’t know, but i feel like i expected this author to have a better topic about vagina’s and weight, since the author is a woman.

the mother in law review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about mother in law by Sally Hepworth. i gave this book 2/5 stars. this book was honestly a god damn dumpster fire, and this whole book was so predictable in my mind, and it just wasn’t good.

to me, i found the mother in law was just so cliche. like, she was your basic mean mother in law, who is such a hardass, and is like so in love with her little charity. and also the whole plot that she cared more for her charity, and that she would rather be there for them, then her daughter in law having a baby. but, let’s just quickly talk about how Diane couldn’t be there for the birth of her grandson, since one of her immigrate ladies was having a baby and the head was popping out and the mom didn’t have any health insurance, so she went over there. i mean, would i personal do that, maybe, but i’m not a doctor so i probably wouldn’t do it anyway and just fork the bill since i’d be filthy rich in this book.

another thing that was really confusing and just didn’t make that much sense was the whole POVs in this book. i did listen to the audiobook instead of reading it physically. but, I still think it needed a lot of work. and i personally don’t care if a book has one POV or like three different ones, but this was still just confusing and didn’t make that much sense. since, one minute it would be Lucy, then it would just like jump to Diane out of literally nowhere and then go to Diane’s daughter. and there wasn’t even like a big break, it was like a single breath and it would just be really confusing. and i guessed they did use like different voices, but it wasn’t like done well enough that it made sense to me when i was reading.

so, when i found this book on libby and decided to pick this up, it was under the like mystery/thriller section, an the book sounded like a good book that is going to be kinda dark, but also a decent book. but, let me tell you, as someone that reads a decent amount of mystery/thriller books, this book wasn’t that much of a mystery/thriller, like it had it’s moments of being a mystery, but for the most part i would just call this woman’s fiction. which, isn’t a bad thing, but i just got a little annoyed since it wasn’t like interesting.

to me, in order to make a good book, if it’s a romance or even if it is a horror book, you need to have a good amount of understanding and also communication between all the characters. and especially if it’s a mystery book with a family, i expect it to have some sort of communication between all of the family members and have them talking and whatnot. but, this book lacked so much communication and understanding between all the characters, especially Nettie, Lucy, Ollie, and then Nettie’s husband when Diane was dead. it was just insane and just drove me crazy all the no talking between everyone.

i really felt like this whole book was very one dimensional. like, for most of this book it was just the author telling us everything about the characters and the life, not really showing us anything. and like everything felt so like one dimensional, and not even in like a good way, it was just so boring.

the whole plot of this this book was also really slow. like, to me, i found that there was a ton of like back and forth between current day and then like the past, which was fine and all, but going back in time just made the whole story drag a lot more then it probably should have, and just the basic plot of who did it just slowed everything down so much, and not even in a good or decent way.

there was literally no character development throughout this whole book. like even in the flashbacks to current day, there was nothing. and i just felt it was so annoying, since it was a mystery i expected that there would be something when they figure out the death and how she died, but there was nothing, and it was just so god damn boring. and i just hated everything about that, and especially since everything was just so slow and the same thing throughout the whole book.

and in this book there was so much built up in this story about the whole murder and what actually happened, but then it just like ended. i mean, to me i feel like there was so much talk with cops and like lawyers, and all this other crap, but then it was like, “oh yeah this is what happened, and like the end.” but, i do think that there was not enough of like an answers and it just like ended with the whole murder plot. and like to me, i feel like there should be this massive like “this is who did it, and this happened, and this, and then this.” so the built up was like useful

i also felt like Diane’s husband was this massive push over, and it was so annoying. like all Tom did was like “you want money? here it is,” “oh you need money for a car, here it is.” like, i don’t care if you give you’re kids money, but like this one was like just to the extreme, and it just got annoying and i think it was like still annoying, since like it was mostly all Diane’s money and he was like giving it away for all the kids whenever they ask for it. like, to me i think that this whole ‘here’s money since you asked for it,” will just like not work well in the long run for the Ollie, Lucy, Nettie, and Nettie’s husband since they know they can always get money from them, if that makes any sense. but, i don’t have kids, but i just think that isn’t a good thing to do.

i feel like the author tried to create Lucy and Diane’s whole story so well, but it really wasn’t, and then Ollie, Lucy’s husband, but just fell to the sidelines. and i would just assume that Ollie would be written a decent character, since he is the real reason that got Lucy and Diane together, since they are in laws. and also, i just thought this guy was a dick, and wish he would just stop being so dramatic.

they also used suicide as like a plot point, like if someone actually killed themselves, and then trying to figure everything out, but this was simply was just used as ‘oh we aren’t going to do our job and just act like she killed herself.’ and this just annoyed me, since this is a real crisis in the world, and this was just used as a plot point in a sense.

trigger warning- suicide

Lucy– she definitely wasn’t the worst character in this book, but she still was so whiny all the time, and it just got to be annoying. like i feel like all she did was just like talk about how she doesn’t have that much money, but she still won’t get a job. and i also feel like she was trying to make Diane this mother in her life, and it’s like yeah i see were you are coming from, but you just need to see her as your mother in law, not your actual mother.

Diane- i feel like she was completely looked at like a witch, when in reality she just had like real goals and morals, unlike some people in this book. but, i do feel like she was just that stereotypical mother in law that is in those movies or like even books, and that just got to be so boring in my mind.

anyway, that’s it for today. this book was honestly so terrible, and was a hot mess of the book, especially if you read a lot of mystery/ thriller books, you would definitely see the issues. but, i guess this is a learning experience that i now know i don’t like books with the whole mother in law drama.

the bro code review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the bro code by Elizabeth A. Seibert. i gave this book 1/5 stars. this book comes out September 22. i honestly hated this book so freaking much, and to me it was just super problematic, and i person think that they need to fire the editor that read and edited this.

one of biggest issue with this book was that this book was the sexism that got pushed threw the pages to the readers. to me, i felt like this book put ever single woman in the world into three categories. 1. you are a god damn slut 2. you are ugly and no man will every want to be with you 3. you’re cute, but i still don’t really like you that much, and you most likely are somewhat of a slut. and also, there was also so much talk about how there was “bros before hoes” and it went on for chapters and chapters, and something that honestly went on for the whole book. and that there was more that went on about how there was all this crap like ‘she has to kiss more’ and ‘you cannot say i love you.’ it was just so annoying and it honestly just pissed me off so much.

in the end of the novel there was some redeemable parts, i mean it was really one part and the rest was a shit show. but, the author made up some ‘villain’ that was actually not that bad, it was just the stereotypical bad guy teacher. but, this guy was only considered a villain since he was a good guy, and wasn’t the biggest dick in the world, like them. but, the guy friend group did talk about it a little bit, but still, you guessed it, thought it was bullshit and it thought it was crap. and anyway, there was all this talk that in my mind, got to be unforgivable.

but, if you’ve been here for a while, or even just read a couple post, you know that i am brutally honest and i speak my thoughts. but, i wanted to bring up the fact that in this book, the last 50% was a shit show, but then when we got to the last 25%, it was a shit show on fire and all the water in the world is gone, and they couldn’t put it out for anything. and everyone on goodreads was like “the ending was the most emotional and the best part.” but, this was easily the most problematic part of this whole book, and it was a shit show.

i also really wanted to talk about the writing for a quick second. to me, i feel like the whole writing was just so shitty, and it was just so terrible, like it feels like this book was written by a teenager, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but this was just a bad one. and, i feel like a big thing for me when i read a book is the writing as a whole, since that obviously makes the book, but this was just so bad, and i honestly couldn’t work with this whatsoever.

as someone that is younger, i think i can talk about this more then a 20 year old, so i’m just going to let it loose. but, the writing style was just so bad, especially if they are going to be a teenager and like if the author is trying to make this whole book more have the whole high school feel. and i actually feel like this happens in a ton of YA books, and you sure as hell know i do it in ever blog post i talk about this. but, this author used SO many of these cringey abbreviation, and these weren’t the typical ones like “lol” or “idk,” like the basic ones, that literally everyone uses. No, this book used “defffffffffff” and “bisexys.” and it was even more and more of these, and make sure you remember the bisexy, since i’m going to talk about it later again.

i don’t know if this is only me, but i found it so weird, and made me very uncomfortable, but the love interest name was Eliza. and if you read the author’s name in the first paragraph, it is Elizabeth. so, yes the author’s name is Elizabeth, but this love interest is Eliza. and i didn’t even put this together, but i was reading goodreads reviews, and i just thought it’d put it out there in this. and honestly, i don’t know if it’s just me, but i found it was like the author’s dream high school life, that didn’t happen. anyway, if she really couldn’t think of another name, she seriously could have googled ‘best baby names for girls.’ like, it is that easy.

i also found it super annoying that there was a ton of crying and the overuse of the word ‘bro.’ and it got to the point that i found out, and came to the conclusion that all wattpad books have a ton of crying, which is kinda weird. but, if you wanted to know how much they said the word ‘bro,’ within 10 pages they said it 35 times, which is honestly just so insane, and i think it is literally so insane in my mind.

this next paragraph has major trigger warnings for sexual assault. so, in this very lovely book, there is this part where Nick and Eliza are having this heart to heart and they are growing as a couple and are getting closer. but, Eliza opens up about how her friend in Australia and how her friend got sexually assaulted by her boyfriend. and Eliza went on and on about how this was an issue and how her best friend confided in her. and basically, when this comes up, Nick was like “oh well, that sucks for her.” so basically no sympathy.

talking about the sexual assault again, i found this topic was talked about in such a terrible way. to me, when sexual assault gets talked about in book, i really like it to be talked about in a respectful way, but also a learning experience. and also such a thing that people can talk about and it can become a bigger topic. but, Eliza brought it up, and then in the next two pages, this was all dropped and it was never brought up again. and at the end of the day, i am not happy whatsoever on how this was brought up, since this is such a serious topic, but this was used as like a very little ‘plot point.’

i also wanted to bring up the whole ‘bisexy’ word again. to me, i just found this so disgusting, and i just hated how this was talked about in this book. also, when Austin did come out as bisexual, he was looked at as ‘gross’ and that he wasn’t ‘normal’ since he’s bisexual. and, when he comes out as bisexual, the first reaction of one of the guys was like “WHAT you can’t be bisexual, you’ve seen me naked! You’ve seen my DICK.” i was like what the hell??????? and it just pissed me off so much, and i thought it was so crappy.

just staying on the topic of Austin, i found it so weird and toxic that this book was always talked about how he isn’t white, and it is so much dIvErSiTy. and personal, it also kinda annoyed me how they talked about him not being white. and in this book there was a whole lot of crap that there was

i would honestly hate for a bisexual teenager, or even a teenager that deals with sexual assault to read this book, since how shitty everything was talked about. and i would honestly hate for someone to be going to Barnes and Noble, or even an Half Priced Books, and they see this book, decide to pick this up, and then read it. and, they haven’t came out yet, but they read this book, read the coming out scene, and then have to hide their whole sexuality and then can’t be themselves, or even worse, kill themselves.

Nick- he honestly made me so freaking mad. he was honestly such a dick, and was such a bad person to his friends and honestly really everyone. i personally do not understand why he was so into soccer, and like wanted to play in college or whatever, but he like refused to workout or even just simply go on a run. and he was such a problematic character and had no redeemable moments.

Eliza- to me, i feel like in this whole book, she had no real personality and had such a flat character. we never really got that much about her, like we had these basic crap, so like she lived in Australia for a little bit, she drew a lot, and she liked orange. and none of this is a real personality, as far as i’m concerned. and we where supposed to see her as this amazing love interest, but she was like so freaking flat.

trigger warnings- rape, not good talking about sexuality

anyway, that’s it for today. i feel like i did a crap ton of complaining for this whole review, which necessary isn’t a bad thing. but, i do think this book just needed a ton of editing and whoever edited this just needs another crash course on editing, or simply needs to be fired and to go work at bookstore instead of being an editors, since they let this shit show get published. mind you, i read the ARC of this book, so who knows if they decided to fix this, but i have a feeling they didn’t.

Felix ever after review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about Felix ever after by Kacen Callender. i gave this book 4.5/5 stars. this book was honestly so amazing, and i loved this book so so much, and the whole book was honestly just such an amazing books.

this book could have easily been 5/5 stars, but the one thing that just rubbed me the wrong way was how we go on all of these talks about money and how Felix didn’t have that much money. which, is something that is true and is a real life for many people. but, we went over the same money issue at least 50 times and it just got to be kinda annoying cause it kept being brought up, and then how Felix kept talking about it, but never really went to get a job or something like that.

but, i really like the whole cast of characters, and especially the whole cast of Ezra and Felix’s friends. i mean, all the friends where all so different, and just such interesting characters, and i also thought it was so cool that all of their friends are LGBTQ+, and it’s not even one of those toxic stories and just for the diversity.

and i really liked how the story involved around social media and had a real meaning to the story. since most stories that deal with a public outing their isn’t that much social media, and even in basic books today, their isn’t that much social media when this is a big part of so many teenagers life. and honestly i feel like this whole plot just made this book so much more sense and made the story 100% better and also just so much more believable.

and let’s take a minute to appreciate the title of this book okay? like damn, it is honestly so adorable, and i think it is honestly the perfect title and literally nothing could even come close to how perfect this title is. for one, there is a complete reference to what Ezra says, “you know Felix means happy.” and then the title is Felix ever after, so it basically mean “happy ever after, which is just so cute and i love it so much.

i do wish though, that there was more of a part of Felix transition. i personally think that would be a really cool story, and to show him coming into his skin. but i do personally hope that Callender writes a prequel to this story about the transition and how he did it and figured out his sexuality and that he actually wanted to transition, if that makes any sense whatsoever.

Callender also wrote the characters in a sense that you just feel so bad for every single character when literally anything bad happens to them. it was honestly such an amazing book, and i really felt so bad for the characters and everything that was happening to them. which is like honestly such an amazing thing to read about in a book, and that the author can do this. so, i’ll definitely read the rest of their books.

this book also deals with a really intense love triangle, but it wasn’t even a bad one, since it was just written so well and it was so enjoyable. but, this whole love triangle wasn’t like you basic love triangle like to all the boys i’ve loved before, it was completely different, and it was just so good and so enjoyable, and that’s coming from someone who does not like love triangles whatsoever.

i’ve talked about how amazing this book is, but this story was so personal to me, and it was just to whole story just felt like a love story from the author to themselves, if that makes any sense. and this whole book was just like i was just Callender talking about how their live was, and it just mad it so raw. and this book was so god damn amazing.

Trigger Warnings- transphobia, homophobia, dead naming, public outing, hate crime.

Ezra- this was such an amazing character and he literally one of the best characters in this book. and to me, i feel like he was just a cinnamon roll of a characters, which i love so much. also, Ezra was just such an amazing character all the time, and just such an amazing friend and was always there for you.

Felix- i feel like i already talked about them so much, but i just wanted to put it out there, that this character was a demiboy, but also trans. but, they were still just such a normal high school kid, that was confused as all hell and then figuring everything out in like 350 pages.

okay, i know i don’t normally talk about the TV show or movie casting in a blog post, but, since right after i finished this it got released that it was going to be a TV show, i’d thought i’ll talk about it for a little bit in the next couple paragraphs.

for me, i am threw the moon with how they are making this into a TV series this is one of those stories that can and will impact a ton of kids, if they are transgender, or hell even lesbian or bisexual since there are characters that are that sexuality. and honestly, i know a lot of teenagers don’t read that much, so with having these as a tv show, honestly just is so amazing that this story will inspire many more people then the book ever will.

i also have high hopes that this is going to be a good adaption and to be very similar to the book, since i trust Amazon will do a good job and their films/tv shows are normally really good. but, i’m still kinda scared because of the fact that it is Amazon doing it, and not some other company like Hulu/Disney, but i still hope they do a good job, and at least it’s not like Freeform doing it, so that is a plus.

as for the casting, i really hope they pick an actual Trans actor to play Felix then the other characters as people that are actually that sexuality, since that is probably the best way to go with this adaption. and it would honestly be the best if we can actually get the same sexuality for the characters, and preferably not known actors for everyone, so like new kids.

anyway, that’s everything for today! i honestly loved this book so much and i loved all the characters so god damn left. and i feel like this book was just an amazing story, and it was still good. i don’t think anyone noticed this, or it’s just me, but i tried to keep all the pronouns foe Felix their, but i did use him/he a couple times, but if you know that his pronouns are their/them, comment and i’ll go threw it and rewrite and edit it more. and then also for Kacen, i tried to use they/them, so if i fucked it up just comment again.

such a fun age review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about such a fun age by Kiley Reid. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i honestly thought that this book would a decent book, but i did have some issues with the characters and some of the basic plot of this book, and everything will be explained, and there will be spoilers, but i’ll try to censor them.

firstly, the friendship in this book was honestly so amazing. like Emira’s friends where always there for her, which was something so amazing, and i loved that aspect so much, since most books don’t have the most positive friendship like this book has. and they had such a great bond, since they did go out and party all the time, which isn’t like a stable in relationships, but they still where always there when they were partying and to steer Emira away from the bad people and relationships.

i also feel like the description of this book wasn’t like the real plot whatsoever. like, it did have the whole grocery store issue, but for the most part it was just like after effect and what happened after the store fight. which, i thought was cool, but i thought that there would be a bigger part of this and the struggle with trying to come to terms with it.

to me, i thought it was so cool how we got to see the lives of two completely different people. so, for example we have Emira who is this Black 28 year old girl, who never really had a stable job, but babysits for a living, and then we have Alix who is a 34 year old white mom, who has a nice house and has the picture perfect life.

this book did have a simple plot line, and it was a pretty easy plot, but it was still kinda hard to still listen about at times, and also just very predictable at different points. and i honestly feel like there was different parts that where very basic and i just feel like there was points that happen in like most books, to some degree.

i also think this book started off in a very strong way, and it was a decent story in the start, but then it just kinda fell off a cliff. and it just kinda got bad, and overall didn’t really make that much sense, since it was just needless drama and it wasn’t even that good after awhile. since, it wasn’t even about the whole grocery story, it was more of a romance plot line.

there was also a whole lot of uncomfortable and weird talking parts. i mean, i think that there was a tom of parts that Emira was like “you lit hunny,” then Kelly would say “you to miss thing.” and like i feel like this whole thing was so weird, and i don’t even know they decided to write the whole book like this, and it was just so unneeded and like random.

i thought it was weird as hell the romance. like when i went into this book i knew/thought that it wasn’t going to be a romance book, and here we are, talking about the crappy romance that was present in this book. and i mean, it’s not even like a good romance, like one that i actually like, it was so toxic, and it honestly had all these warning signs that made me want to run in the other direction.

i probably already said this, but i’ll keep saying it, but i found Kelly to be a complete dick. like i don’t mean the whole drama with Alix, cause that’s kinda her fault as well as his own, but there was parts that he just was a massive baby, and just a pain in the ass. and he also kept so much from Emira, that it was just like straight out annoying.

spoiler– i think the whole part with Kelly was so annoying. i mean, to me i feel like with Alix still in love with him was just so annoying. i mean, i think it was so gross cause she was like “omg i still want to be with him and i can’t get over him.” and, to me i think it was just annoying cause she was like in love with him, when she had two kids and a husband and like a stable life, so i don’t know why she was so in love with him all the time. and i honestly expect then to move on to some degree.

Emira- i personally really like her as a character, but i do feel like she was the stereotypical Black main character, with having a not nice house and have “crappy” furniture, and wanting to have ‘real’ job, drinking a crap ton, and a lot more. but, i do feel like she was probably one of the least annoying characters in this book, but, she still had her issues in my mind.

Alix- she could easily have been the most annoying character in this book. to me, i found that she was just so obsessed with her looks and trying to be pretty and have this picture perfect life that everyone wants so bad to have everyone wanting her life, when she was really just annoying and so racist.

anyway, that is it for today. this was honestly a decent book, and i really enjoyed the whole plot and what it had to offer even though it was kinda hot mess for most of it. but, i do feel like this should be a must read in college or even late high school, since this book is/can have a big impact.
