July wrap up

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books i read in July. i did read more books this month then i did last month, but i did enjoy a lot of books that i did enjoy. so, i’m pretty excited to talk about these.

the seven husbands of Evenly Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reed. i gave this book 5/5 stars. this book honestly was so great, but i don’t think it as a 5 star, maybe a four, but who knows. but the characters and plot where so amazing and also so complex. which was just so great. but, this book was still kind of a cute romance, between her one husband and then Evenly Hugo.

trigger warnings– negative talk about LGBTQ+ people and just in general, parental abuse, car crash, parental death, domestic abuse , faking a miscarriage, abortion, suicide.

Never Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher. i gave this book 2/5 stars. this was honestly a very quick read, and it wasn’t the best read at all. i feel like this book was kinda slow, and didn’t make a lot of sense in the grand scheme of things. and it was a pretty bad book, but might read the next doors and see if it makes more sense.

bring me back by BA Paris. i gave this book 2/5 stars. this book was a very weird book. i mean the main characters, girlfriend went missing, and then he is marrying the missing girlfriend sister. and this was kind of a make me uncomfortable. and in this book, there was a lot of things that were going on and with the plot.

party of two by Jasmine Guillory. i gave this book 4/5 stars. overall, this was a pretty good book. i really liked how we got Max being a celebrity, and i feel like it added to the story and it just made it so much better. but, also the parts about how they loved cakes, but baked goods in general, was just so cute.

crave by Tracy Wolff. i gave this book 1/5 stars. this book was honestly so bad, and i’m very surprised that i hated it so much, since i really like vampires and paranormal romance. but, this wasn’t good whatsoever. this whole book was way to long, and very boring, and was torture. and it had so many similar plots to twilight, which was really annoying.

Lola and the boy next door by Stephanie Perkins. i gave this book 3/5 stars. i’m honestly surprised that i didn’t love this book. but, it was still really cute. on the other hand, i really think that Lola annoyed the hell out of me. all she did was complain and bitch about everything. and she was honestly so native, which was really annoying.

royal holiday by Jasmine Guillory. i gave this book 3/5 stars. this was honestly my least favorite book that i read about her. i feel like there wasn’t the best romance, since they both where so uncomfortable together at the start, and it was kinda weird. and their romance was very slow, and like was barely there, they really just had sex a couple times.

clap when you land by Elizabeth Acevedo. i gave this book 5/5 stars. this was such an amazing book. i love the poetry, and it was so beautifully written, i loved everything so much. i mean i think that everything was so amazing. i loved how we got this amazing story about grief and about sisters coming together.

the bookish life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman. i gave this book 3/5 stars. honestly, Nina annoyed the hell out of me, all she did was complain about wanting to be alone and whatnot. and i found this book was very stereotypical about what book lovers like, ex they all need it to be quiet and all only read physical books.

the happy ever after playlist by Abby Jimenez. i gave this book 5/5 stars. this was such an amazing book. it was honestly so freaking cute, and i loved Jason and Sloan together and how they interacted. and, i did find it so cute with the dog and what he added to the story. and psa, the dog doesn’t die so ya’ll are safe.

anyway, that’s it for today. i read so many good books, but also a lot of really good books, but there also is a couple not that really great books. but, i still hope i can read more better books in August, and also i need to read some arcs, but who knows.

July book haul

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books i’ve hauled in July. i got only two physical books, but then a bunch of Arcs. and all of the Arcs i’m so excited for. but, there are a couple that already came out, and i just got, which is kinda annoying, but, i’ll still read them eventually.

where dreams descend by Janella Angeles. this book comes August 25th. i go this book in the June owlcrate i think, i know i got it in a owlcrate, but i have no clue what month. this kind of gives me a little bit of caraval vibes, but, i hope i like it a lot more, since i didn’t like the last two books whatsoever. and i’ve heard a ton of things about this, so i’m so excited so i can read this.

goddess in the machine by Lora Beth Johnson. this is a sci fi and fantasy book, and i’m not the biggest fan of sci fi, even if it has a little fantasy book. this sounds like kinda of a crazy book, but i hear that a lot of this book is a lot of vibes like red raising, which i didn’t really like. so, i’m not sure if i’ll read this book anytime soon.

some Laney’s die by Brooke Skipstone. this book comes out August 10th. i’m not quite sure what this book is about, but i think it will be an interesting book, since it probably is a thriller, and someone has to die and have some sort of murder mystery. and hopefully it’s good, since it’s a YA novel, and those can get questionable when it’s a murder mystery.

how to live on the edge by Sarah Lynn Scheerger. this book comes out August 4th. this book honestly sounds like such a great book since, it has a mom dying, and then a teenager trying to figure out about her mom. it honestly just sounds so cool and kinda gives me vibes like love and gelato.

this eternity of masks and shadows by Karsten Knight. this book comes out June 2nd. okay, but can we talk about how beautiful this cover is? this sounds like such the perfect LGBTQ fantasy novel. i honestly can’t wait to get into this, even though i literally just got the Arc even though it’s been out for a little bit. and i honestly can’t wait to get into this story, and it is an urban fantasy, so hopefully i’ll like this a little more.

the best of friends by Lucinda Berry. this comes out August 18th. honest to god, i have no clue when i put this book and said i wanted it. but, this is another YA mystery and thriller. but this is all about a group of boys, and something bad happens to them, making everything fall out of place.

hidden bones by Vivian Barz. this comes out August 11th. this book is actually the second book in a series, so i hope that it is a series that you need to read the first book to understand it, it’s a series about other characters. this sounds like kind of an interesting book, but i’m still kinda scared of this.

media queen by Holly Anne. this book comes out June 8th. i’m honestly not even sure why i got this arc, since it came out in June. but, i still think this might be a good book, since it deals with social media. but, how knows, cause books about social media can go either way

Fable by Adrienne Young. this book comes out September 1st. i’m honestly so excited for this book. i’ve seen everyone talking about this book. and this cover is so different, and so pretty. like literally no YA books have a red head on the cover, which is just so cool.

making friends with Alice Dyson by Poppy Nwosu. this book comes out September 15th. i’ve actually started this book, and it’s not the best book in the world. since, there are acting like this big ass scandal are going on, when it they where just dancing in the rain. but, at least the cover is kinda cute.

part of your nightmare by Vera Strange. this book comes out July 7th. holy crap, i’m so excited for this book. i say that literally every time i talk about this book, but i still cannot wait to read this one. and this book is all about Ursula coming alive, i’m not sure if that’s the right word, but anyway, it just sounds so interesting. and this is a whole series, so i honestly can’t wait to read it.

the extraordinaries by TJ Klune. this book comes out July 14th. honestly, like multiple books on this list, i do not remember putting this book on Netgalley. but, this book sounds kinda weird since everything is about and deals with superheros. and i think this is a science fiction, but i have no clue.

Paola Santiago and the River of Tears by Tehlor Kay Mejia. this book comes out August 4th. this cover is kinda a cool book, and i hope that this book is as pretty as the outside is. but, i’m kinda scared by this book, since it is a children’s book and not a middle grade. but, i’ve heard a lot of people hyping up this book, so hopefully this is pretty good.

the first to lie by Hank Phillippi Ryan. this book comes out August 4th. this sounds like such a thrilling and twisting read, and i think that this book just sounds like such a good book. but, i have no clue if it’s actually going to be good since i read mainly material mystery/thriller adult books.

the bad boy and the tomboy by Nicole Nwosu. this book comes out October 13th. okay, i only put this book on netgalley since i wanted to be reading all of these books that have so much nostalgia, and this will totally bring it all back. and hopefully it’s not to cliche, but we all know it will be.

I’m the gay wizard by VS Santoni. this book comes out October 27th. this sounds so cool, since we all know about the recent wizard drama and then with rainbow rowell. so, reading a book with a gay wizard that isn’t problematic yet, will be so amazing to read about.

under your skin by Rose McClelland. this book comes out April 27th. this sounds like such a good book about a wife going missing in this small town. i really like mystery and thrillers, if you couldn’t tell, so this just sounds like my cup of tea. and i feel like a lot more is going to happen, then what meets the eye, but i still can’t wait to read this one.

anyway, that’s it for today. i got a ton of great books, even if it is mostly e-arcs, but most of them still sound so amazing. and hopefully i will read some of these before the release date, but who honestly knows. since i do have a ton of books from the library i need to read.

my most anticipated for the rest of the year

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books i’m so excited for next year. there is a big list of books, and a couple are already out, since this was supposed to go up sooner. but, needless to say, i’m still excited for this.

kingdom of the wicked by Kerri Maniscalo. this book comes out October 27th. i am so excited for this book, and this is probably one of my most anticipated for the whole year. and this book sounds so cool, and how it deals with sisters and then a brutal murder. and i personally hope the love interest is cute and amazing like Thomas.

midnight sun by Stephanie Meyer. this book comes out August 4th. i’m not really sure if i want to read this book. but, i still think this book sounds kinda cool, but i already read the pdf version that someone leaked. but, i still think that it might be cool, but i’m not sure if i’ll actually read it.

how the king of Elfhame learned to hate stories by Holly Black. this book comes out November 20th.i love this series so much, so a story about Cardan, sounds so amazing. and i think that this book has so much potential for being an amazing add in to the series. and hopefully we’ll get more of Jude and Cardan together.

love and olives by Jenna Evans Welch. this book comes out November 12th.i’m so excited for this book. i honestly love the series, and the whole plot in the other countries. i’m so excited that this is in Greece, and it’s so cool.  And i love books set in Greece, and Greece in general. But, i don’t really know who this book follows, but i’m still very interested..

burn down our bodies by Roy Power. this comes out July 7th. i’m so excited for this book, and i think it’s kinda cool. and plus this sounds amazing, since i’m really getting into YA mystery/thriller, so this just sounds so amazing. But, i don’t really know if i’ll really pick this up anytime soon, since i have more books that i know more about and more books i’ll pick up first.

crazy stupid bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams. this book comes out October 27th. i’m honestly so excited to read this, and i know i’ve said it multiple times. But, there is a cat on the cover, which. and, personally i wish that the book was about the Russian, but, it will still be so cute, just like the rest of her work in the series. So, even if it’s half as good, i’m going to be so excited.

in a holidaze by Christina Lauren. this book comes out October 6th. i love this author duo’s book so much. they are so amazing, and so cute. and it’s set by Christmas, i believe. and i’ve never read an adult romance set by Christmas and also probably has a really cute romance.

the cousins by Karen M McManus. this book comes out December 1st. honestly, just like burn down our bodies, this is a YA mystery/thriller. but, i’ve read all of her other books, and i hope that this book isn’t like her latest books, since it was really repetitive of her other books were.

the invisible life of Addie LaRue by VE Schwab. this book comes out October 6th. honestly, this will be the first book that i read of her books. so, this will be kinda exciting to read this. and everyone on book twitter is talking about this book, so i should just like give it a go.

tools of engagement by Tessa Bailey. this book comes out September 22nd. i personally don’t know if  i want to read this, or if i’m really excited for it, since i didn’t really like the first two books. but, i’m still kinda excited to get Georige’s sisters romance.

part of your nightmare by Vera Strange. this book came out  July 7th. i actually got an ARC for this book, and i’m so excited to read this. i mean there is this whole little mermaid plot, but mainly with the villains, and my little kingdom keeper heart is really excited for a book all about the villains and then these kids they recruit or whatnot.

anyway, that’s all for today. i’m so excited for all these books, and i can’t wait to read all of these, or just star at this the books on my libby or on Kindle, or even the books from my library. but, i’m still really excited for these books. And i’m sorry for any grammatical, spelling, or just little errors in this, since i had to copy and paste it from wordpress to google docs, and i tried to fix it all, but i don’t know if i got them all. 😦

the seven husbands of Evenly Hugo review

hello everyone! today i’m going to be talking about the seven husbands of Evenly Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reed. i gave this book 5/5 stars. this book was so amazing, and i was blown away by the story and all the characters were so amazing and had such complex plots and whatnot, even if they we’re so minor, they were still so complex and driven.

i feel like this book shows how fucked up Hollywood is and beauty standards woman have from 1950 to all the way in 2020. and i feel like it’s a real issue in the world are for woman, and even though you have all this money and are famous, you still have issues and your still human. and i think it was really cool to see that even people that are celebrities still are human and show you all the in and outs of Hollywood and essentially that all your favorite celebrities have secrets and have things that make them not perfect.

but, throughout this book, there was all this talk about Evenly Hugo is so pretty and how she is one of the most beautiful woman in Hollywood. which, was pretty annoying, since there is definitely more then meets the eye about her then her looks. and it was really annoying on how it’s a bigger challenge in Hollywood today, but then it’s still happening today, and people only care about the looks of the actors.

but, i do think Monique was kinda tone deaf, and didn’t really think that Evenly Hugo would talk only about her dress. i feel like she was one of those characters that was very set on the dress and nothing else. but, i’ll talk about her more later, and what really annoyed me about her.

for this book as a whole, somethings where just said, and then you where expected to understand what it meant and how the role i played in the story. the main thing that was pretty annoying was how the role of the newspapers where explained and also talked about throughout the book. since, they would talk about something for a little bit, and then they went and was like, oh well we won’t talk about it, and then they just brush over it again.

this is technically a spoiler, but i highly urge you to read this part. one part that a lot of people will have an issue with this. i personally think that the biggest issue was how tone deaf it is and how it got talked about. basically, Evenly and whatever husband she was with, faked a miscarriage. look, i’ve never had a kid, or had a miscarriage, but, it was so toxic about how it was talked about. i mean they only faked it for hype, and it would be so hard for people that actually miscarriages a baby, it would have broke them since this was so toxic and not even talked about.

one thing that annoyed me a lot, is there was this whole plot of Evenly getting pregnant, and how it affects her life and all of her relationships. but, then it becomes this big ass plot point about how she will get pregnant and then their life with their kid. but, when she was pregnant, we didn’t get anything of her pregnancy, besides saying she had a baby girl.

i do feel like the husbands where either talked about to the ends of the earth, or they had a good solid three pages. for example, the first husband, Ernie Diaz had pages upon pages of him, but also the fifth husband got a ton of plot points, but, then the blonde one with the curly hair got like three pages. which, was really annoying.

one of the most annoying things in this book, since we get all these different races throughout this book. i know that Monique is black, and like i’ll say again, Evenly is Latina. which is something i really like in books. but, i think that it was kinda annoying that their race isn’t talked about whatsoever. i mean, i think that it is kinda weird, since in most books that do have someone that isn’t white, you normally get something. and this probably just because the author is white, but i still wish we got something.

this could be a spoiler if you never heard about the one relationship in this book and also the death. i feel like this book was all LGBTQ+ rep and it was overall pretty good, and it was positive. but, then that one person died, and then Monique learns about the death and how her family is involved in it. and i thought it was kinda cool to see her story woven in, but i do think it could have been handled so much better. we get this whole story about how these characters are bi or gay or lesbian, and then Monique gets so homophobic about what happens, and it annoyed the hell out of me, since she was so positive early.

Evenly Hugo- she’s kind of a weird character, since i really like her character, but it was also kind of annoying. i mean she was very feminine, and always did what she wanted. but, i feel like Reed really made her this sex god, and very much that she was much always talked about her body. i also thought it was kinda toxic about how this character is supposed to be Latina, and that’s how it gets pitched, but we don’t get any of her culture, it’s only “oh yeah i speak spanish.”

Cecile- i really liked her character. but, i think that she was very much that kind of character that whatever you do has to be about me. she’s definitely one of those people in high school that have rich parents and stuck up, but will do anything to piss them off. and, i feel like Evenly wanted to do so much, and then Cecile was like, no you can’t do that. and basically just controlled her life.

Harry- holy shit, he was my favorite character in this whole book. and i really like how sweet and pure character. and he really wanted what was best for Evenly and whatnot. and he was so pure and whatnot. and i really loved how he treated Evenly and everyone in his life. and he was just a super sweet guy , which i loved so much.

Monique- she was a very boring character. i mean she devoted everything to her job, which isn’t a bad thing. but, i think she was so uplifting to Evenly and a lot of other things how her life and whatnot. but, i do think that it is still good.

trigger warnings- negative talk about LGBTQ+ people and just in general, parental abuse, car crash, parental death, domestic abuse , faking a miscarriage, abortion, suicide.

anyway, that’s all for today. this was such a pretty good book, and i really loved it. looking back, this could have been 4 star read, propose to a 5 star read, but i don’t really want to lower my rating. needless to say, this was still a pretty good book.

TBR for the rest of the year

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about my tbr for the rest of the year. this is honestly such a different post then i normally do, but i still think this will be kinda cool, and hopefully i’m gonna read all of these, but who honestly knows.

the betrothed by Kiera Cass. i’m kinda scared for this book since i’ve heard so many people say this book is so bad, but i still want to read it soon, since i do own it. and it does have kind of the same premise of the selection, but instead it has a princess, not a prince, and i don’t think anything like the bachelor.

good girl, bad blood by Holly Jackson. i read the first book in this series, and i completely fell in love with the series and the authors writing style. and, it’s pretty cool that this book is a little more modern, since it deals with Pip and probably Ravi working on a true crime podcast. which, everyone is in love with at the current moment. and hopefully this is as good, if not better the first book.

girls with sharp sticks by Suzanne Young. this would actually be a reread of this book, but i really want to reread this is so i can get to the second book in the series. and i honestly think this book will be so good to get absorbed inside this world yet again.

Disney after dark by Ridley Pearson. i’m so excited for this book. i personally don’t know if i’m going to read the original book, or the new one. but, i think i’ll probably read the updated version. but, either way, i’m so excited for this book. and, i think that this book would be so cool to see the updated version.

the return series by Ridley Pearson. i actually have to read this series before i reread Disney after dark first. but, if i really probably would read Disney after dark first. and, i mean this book sounds is so cool since it’s in Disney land again. and i’m so excited for this reread 100%.

Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan. i’m still kinda in the fence about reading this book, since i already own it, but i still don’t really want to support this author. but, i have no clue. and, too i really like the movie, unpopular opinion, but the movies are actually kinda good, even if they don’t follow the book.

hunger games by Suzanne Colin. i’ve seen this book series all over instagram and pretty much everywhere. i think this book should be really cool, and see what all the hype is all about. i’ll hopefully binge the series sometimes. and, i really want to listen to the audio books for this, since i’ve heard those are pretty good. i’m kinda excited for these.

twilight by Stephanie Meyer. i’m not really sure if i actually want to read this book. i mean i think this could be cool as a reread. but, i don’t know if i actually want to read this book, or just wanting to read it for midnight sun. but, i kinda also don’t want to read the book at all. so, i have no clue.

beach read by Emily Henry. i’ve seen this book all over instagram and then on romance booktube. and i mean it sounds so cute, and i think that this should be a great book for summer. but, i honestly have no clue what it is about, besides the fact that it is about writers and set by a beach.

again, again by E. Lockhart. holy crap, i’m so excited for this book. i loved we were liars, but i didn’t like her other book, so i’m kinda scared for this book. but, i still think this book will be decent, to some degree. but, i don’t really know if i should read this one.

the song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. i cannot wait to get into this book. i think that this book will be so cool, just to read about the Greek Gods, even though i’m not really sure what god this is about, so i cannot wait to see how this brings in all the gods.

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno- Garcia. i’m so excited for this. i mean the whole book sounds very interesting. and this kinda gives me evenly hugo vibes, since it deals with a celebrity, but also a little bit of a mystery in the story, which would be really cool to read about.

anyway, that’s it for today. i’m kinda excited for this story, and i think that these all sound so amazing. but, i think that i’ll probably read like five of them, so we shall see how many i actually read at the end of the year.

not that kind of girl review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about not that kind of girl by Andie J. Christopher. i gave this book 4/5 stars. this book was pretty cool, and i liked the plot of the fake dating on steroids and whatnot. it was just pretty cool on how everything happened, and everything that went down.

i personally think that it was pretty cool that Bridget was a state’s attorney, and not some flower shop owner or something really girly like that. i mean it was pretty cool because she was this bad ass Olivia Benson and Erin Reagan mashup, so that was amazing and i really liked how she was just so into and in love with her job and just wanted to help people.

personally, i think that it was really cool how Bridget was older then Matt. since, in most romance books, and books in general, the men are always older. but, in here Bridget is older then Matt. and it wasn’t like a mommy/daddy dynamic it, was just a sweet romance.

one thing that really annoyed the hell out of me, was how they kept calling Matt ‘the intern.’ and to me it was kinda annoying, and i mean i think it was kinda weird, since even when he quit, they always say ‘the intern,’ and even in Vegas, she was like ‘oh yeah, Matt the intern.’

i do really like how they got the whole ‘villain’ part of the story. i mean, it added the whole plot of ‘oh she really just wanted our money and doesn’t even like you.’ it got annoying, for me, so it would get annoying for Matt. but, i still think it was pretty cool that literally she didn’t want them together, but it added more ‘will they, won’t they.’

and they had so much chemistry throughout the book. i mean, it’s so cool, since they had such a great chemistry, i personally think they had a better chemistry as the couple in not the girl you marry, even though they are engaged. i just feel like Matt and Bridget got more in love throughout the story and had the whole love at first sight.

personally, i think the whole Vegas plot point was just so cool. i mean i think that all the good plot points help the story move on, and it was so cute in my mind. but, there are some parts of the story that made me really uncomfortable, and i’m gonna say it out, with the whole abortion plot point was really uncomfortable in my mind.

spoiler- this could be used as a spoiler, but i guess it could be. but, this book was so cute how they got fake married. and i thought it was kinda cool, since i never got a real book, that i remember, since they got fake married. it was just really cool, and since they don’t really remember it, and it was just so cute, and it could lead up to some cool things, and plot points. and i mean they where so cute when they got married.

Bridget- honestly, she was such a kick ass character. she always stuck up for what is needed, example sexual assault and tried to fight for justice. and i really like how she acted so well with her family, and then how she acted with her family and then her ex and then Matt.

Matt- this guy was so cute. i mean i straight up adored this guy, he was just so sweet. he was so confident and sweet and loved Bridget so much, and it was so amazing. and he was just so in love with Bridget, even when they weren’t together.

anyway, that’s it for today. this book was a pretty good book, and it was cool to see the other characters in this book and then to get the sister’s story and her pov. and i mean i think she was pretty cool since she was an lawyer.

the insider review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the insider by Ridley Pearson. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i honestly loved this book so much, but i did have a couple issues with it, but it was still amazing and i thought it was such a good ending.

to me, i personally thought it was kinda weird how they did the time jump. the last book they were about 15-16 year old, but in here they jumped to when they where 18ish. i feel like the jump was the right choice, but it was kinda annoying cause a lot of things most likely would happen then with the relationships and all, but it literally didn’t happen whatsoever.

i’m not sure if i never realized this, but i think Maybeck’s dry and sarcastic humor was so amazing in this book. and i feel like it was kinda cute and funny. i mean, it kinda mirrored my humor, so thought it was kinda fun. it was kinda cool how he made everything all funny, and not so hardcore.

but, there is so much take about science and history talk. i don’t really care about this part, since it gets watered down later in the book, cause someone else that’s actually in the book, was confused as hell, just like me. but, i never really cared for any of this part, but it happened in each book, so i got used to it.

i do think this book was really cute and whatnot with the couples. i mean we got Finn and Amanda for a little bit, and they are one of the honest to god best ship, and then we got Maybeck and then Charlie , who have a very slow burn romance. then we got the good old Philby and Willa, who have the will they won’t they. and Pearson really gave into the couples, and what they do.

overall, i do wish we got more Charlie and Philby in the book. i feel like we did get some parts of them, but not enough where i can feel comfortable saying “omg Charlie and Philby got so much of a part in this book.” they did have a good amount of this book dedicated to it, but it was just doing Finn’s dirty work. it was kinda cool cause i think Willa did get a good part of the book, which i was really happy about. and of course, it was kinda crazy how Finn and Maybeck got so much, which is kinda crazy.

i also really like how we got a good little part about Dill and it wasn’t pushed down your throat. i personally thought it was kinda cool, unlike most YA and adult books. so, honestly that was kinda crazy to read what happened later in the book. and i didn’t see this book happen whatsoever, even though i already read it.

personally, i thought it was so cool how we got all these chapters about the overtakers, and they weren’t like 50 pages. i thought it was pretty cool, and it wasn’t even boring. like, it was very interesting and it really helped the story. i was just really cool, and how everything leaded up to the ending, and then what i assume what will lead to the return series.

i’ve kinda already talked about the couples, but i really like how we got more of Charlie and Maybeck together. i feel like in the other books we didn’t get them together whatsoever, but in here we got more of them together and them filtering. which, i thought was so cool. and they are my favorite ship in the book series, so that’s kinda cool to see them interact.

on a less positive note, i think that this book could have been cut in half. i feel like some parts just got really draggy, and that were kinda boring. i mean i think that even though it was a pretty good book, that some parts just got boring and didn’t add anything in the plot.

anyway, that’s all for today. i really liked this book, and i think that it was really cool that we were finally in Disneyland, which is pretty cool cause i’ve never been there. so, i thought it was cool cause it added so much, since they aren’t at their home park, Disney World.

the summer of ’98 review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the summer of ’98 by Tay Marley. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i got this ARC from Wattpad books and Netgalley, so thank you so much. this book comes out today, July 21st, today.

probably my biggest issue with this book is that it doesn’t read like it is set in 1998. to me, i honestly think this book reads like it is set in 2010-2015. i think it was just the way everyone talks, and then the whole vibe of the story, it wasn’t really 1998. i guess it wasn’t really that bad in the hind sight of things, but i think if you want a book set in 1998, it doesn’t really fit that well, since i feel like they would pull out an iphone at any minute.

i’m not sure how much this gets changed from the ARC to the actual published version, but the ARC did have some spelling and grammatical errors throughout the story. and the whole formatting was honestly all over the place since there wasn’t any chapters whatsoever, which was kinda annoying.

but, this book also moved really quickly. i feel like everything was just really crazy and Ellie and Leroy just moved really quickly in their romance, which was really crazy. and wasn’t that realistic in my mind, and how quickly everything moved. i mean i think that some parts where very realistic, and i think that it moved in a right pace.

if you didn’t know, and you probably don’t, but this book is told in both Leroy and Ellie’s POV. this is kinda just a thing that i like, but i really like books that are in females POV, and also just one POV. i feel like this book did good with both POV, but i really think that this book could have done better in one, and i definitely did prefer Ellie’s POV more, since i do just like girls point of view more. and this is how i picked where the chapter ended, and where i assumed when it changed twice.

i’m not sure if it was just me, but Ellie’s mom made me laugh at parts. i mean, it’s just like those movies when something super serious is happening, but then that one person laughs, so then everyone is laughing. that’t honestly what happened with me when her mom was on. but, i do see why she got so pissed at Ellie in the end, since i think the mom did the same thing when she was younger.

i feel like it is kinda just a common thing is YA books, and i guess romance books in general. but, i don’t understand in general, why books have the common trope that someone’s brother is a dick. i mean i think it’s kinda funny cause they are just so blah and snark about everything. but, it was kinda annoying though how Leroy just didn’t like didn’t care about him, and that he was just into his girlfriend.

personally, if you wanted to read this book, i would read the other book in this series first. i mean, i think that this book was still really good, but, i still think that there was somethings we just needed to know about, but i personally didn’t cause i never read the other book. to me, it was just a preference, but who knows how other people will think.

on a more positive note, but i do think that Cass was such an amazing best friend. i mean she was so light hearted and she had that whole look that she was a slut and whatever. when, deep down, she wasn’t she was just carefree, if that makes sense.

spoiler- i do think it was kinda cute how they had kids. i mean it was just really cute how they acted together when we found out she was pregnant. i mean they just got all in love. but, i really liked how it was told, and it wasn’t all negative and then the “oh you know how much money me and your dad have, and they will think we made some massive mistake.” like you always read about in books. it honestly just made me so happy.

spoiler- this book did kinda remind me of modern family season 10. i mean a lot of the events where kinda similar, or just looking back on this book had the same feel as that season. and i mean Dylan and Haley weren’t together, they just hooked up, and the same thing happened in this book and then they both had twins. so, that was kinda cute, and probably unintentional.

Ellie- she was so amazing. i mean, i think she was just so amazing to read about cause she did everything for herself, but still feel so in love with Leroy. i mean she fell head over heels in love with him when they met for the first time, i mean she went all the way over to Denver for him. i did feel really bad for her when her friends all moved on, when she was in Denver.

Leroy- he was a kinda amazing and didn’t just run away from Ellie. i mean he was always there for her and was just so amazing and nice to everybody. and he was really into football, it got kinda annoying cause all he talked about was football.

anyway, that’s it for today. it was really crazy about the ending of the book, but i still really liked the end of the book. overall, this book was really cute, and i think it was overall really good. once again, thank you netgalley and wattpad for the ARC of this book, and happy release day!

reading rush tbr

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the reading rush tbr. i’m so excited for this read a thon, and i think this is the third time i’m participating, but i honestly have no clue. i’m honestly not sure if i’m going to stick to my tbr, or if i’ll just try to read 7 books. but, honestly these prompts are kinda stupid this year.

READ A BOOK THAT MATCHES YOUR BIRTH STONE.

okay, but this one is really stupid. i mean it’s just kinda hard since most of them have multiple, and then also have like a diamond, just like me. and no real book has that whole diamond color, as their cover, so i just decided to pick a book with a white/grey color.

waiting for tom hanks by Kerry Winfrey. i feel like this has more of a blue/grey cover, but i still think it will just fit. i mean how are you supposed to find a diamond color book cover. i also have a hold on it anyway, so it should work just fine.

READ A BOOK WITH THE FIRST LETTER AS “THE”.

this is a pretty straight forward prompt, and it was overall pretty easy, but i honestly never paid attention that so many books have the first word as ‘the.’ or at least somewhere in the title.

the happy ever after playlist by Abby Jimenez. i completely loved the first book in the series so much. so, i honestly can’t wait to read this book, since i think it is just going to be so cute and amazing. plus, there is a dog on the cover, so that’s always a plus.

READ A BOOK INSPIRED BY A MOVIE YOU SEEN.

look, i’m not the biggest book to movie watcher, cause i would rather watch tv shows, and like my four tv shows that i watch over and over again. but, i did watch little fires everywhere, but it literally takes at least 6 months, so that’s not gonna happen. so, i kinda cheated with this one.

Cinderella is dead by Kalynn Bayron. like i said, i completely cheated with this one. but, i’ve seen Cinderella countless times, so i guess it might work. and honestly, i got an ARC for this one, and i just never read it cause i was in a reading slump for a couple weeks. anyway, this book is getting a ton of hype, so i think it’s time.

READ THE FIRST BOOK YOU TOUCH

i’m not the biggest fan of prompts like this, cause their is no room to be creative whatsoever. but, i guess i’m kinda cheating cause i have a ton of E ARCS and then an ton of books on libby. so, i decided to pick a book i already started.

after ever happy by Anna Todd. as i currently right this, i’m like 68 pages into it, and i have like 3 days of my hold left. so, i better get reading this book. but, i think that this book isn’t even that good. and i honestly can’t wait to see how shitty it gets.

READ A BOOK COMPLETELY OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE.

here’s the tea, i am not going to be doing this prompt, or at least read a book outside. i mean, for one, my one neighbor behind me, is a creepy ass man, and he will literally just stare at you for hours, reason one i’m not going outside for hours. then the next neighbor, one to the left of him has these dogs that bark all day. then the neighbors to the left to me is getting a deck, and then my other neighbors have these dogs that also bark all day. so, it’s pretty reasonable why i’m not going outside, so i’ll read a book that takes place outside instead.

clap when you land by Elizabeth Acevedo. this book takes place a good chuck of time outside, in an ocean and then just in a village, so i guess like it’s i’m outside. but, i did read a little bit of this outside when it was like 12 am, so i guess i kinda did do it, but that was way before the actual reading rush.

READ A GENRE YOU WANT TO READ MORE.

i honestly was going to read a fantasy for this, but then i was like, i don’t really like fantasy. i mean, it is always hard for me to get into. so, i deiced to read a YA romance since i’m reading a lot more adult romance recently. so, i guess that’s not total cheating.

maybe this time by Kasie West. holy crap, i am so excited for this book. i love her books so much. i’ve pretty much read all her other books, besides the one that came out mid quarantine, and just never got around to it. so, this one just sounds so amazing and i cannot wait to read this one.

READ A BOOK THAT TAKES PLACE IN A DIFFERENT CONTINENT.

this one was overall kinda hard to find a book that i was interested in that much. i mean, i think a ton of books take place in America, so it was kinda hard to find one that i was really interested in that’s set at Europe, cause that’s what i really wanted to read.

royal holiday by Jasmine Guillory. i already started this, and i think i’m at like 60% and i knew that i had to get it in somewhere in my tbr. and it took me like three days to realize that this book takes place in Europe, not in America. so, i honestly kinda feel like an idiot cause it took me forever to find out.

anyway, that’s it for today. i’m hoping to read at least 7 books this week, but i’m not sure if that is actually going to happen cause i’m reading kinda slower, but i am already reading three books on this list, so it could work if i really try.

Sadie review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about Sadie by Courtney Summer. i gave this book 3/5 stars. overall, this book was pretty good, and i feel like this was better the reread. and it was a really good read, even if it wasn’t the best mystery/ thriller i read.

if you don’t know about this book, basically it’s told in Sadie’s POV and then this podcast POV. and the podcast is so cool, and adds so much to the story. and it just helped more to the story, and it just help the story feel more real. and it added something to the story, and it made it feel more real, like a real true crime case. and something you’d listen on the mile higher podcast or crime junkies.

but, i do wish the book had more of an ending, not just a “oh everything ended just like this” and i wish we got the ending for Sadie. and it ended more of what actually happened and not just us we get to make it up. but, i personally think she dies, but who knows.

but, i feel like to many things happened at once, and had to many thing happening. for one, we got the sister dying, the mom leaving, dropping out of school, and then the whole rape plot line. and yeah, it did work, but i wish we got more in depth about what actually happened when she was a child with Keith and the rape because we never really got told, and then we just needed to go along with it.

i also think the audio book is the best path to go. i mean you could go one of three paths, which i’ll explain because it can go anyway honestly. i do strongly suggest the audio book part, since it makes everything more real, since it is like the real deal.

  • just read the audio book. (this is what i did, this time.) it honestly works the best, since there is the podcast and it helped bring the story to life.
  • just read it with your eyes. this is the classic way. i did do this for the first time i read it. and yeah, it was still okay of a path to go, but it sure isn’t the best.
  • or three, read Sadie’s parts with your eyes and listen to the podcast part. this is honestly the best of both worlds, and i do suggest this if you have the option of both.

i really enjoyed this book, but i feel so weird with saying that cause it is so dark and intense. i mean it was pretty good of a book, and it was so dark and it sucks you in. but, it was definitely more dark and intense then i remember.

i honestly hope this book gets a sequel. like something with just the podcast guy, and he uncovers all the secrets of what happened and if Sadie is still alive. i think it would make it better, and add more to everything that is dark and gives answers.

Sadie- she was honestly such a bad ass character. she could literally get anything she wanted, since she fought for everything she wanted. and how she sticks up for everything. i just thought that was so cool, and we don’t get to much of that in YA.

podcast guy- i honestly do not remember his name whatsoever. but, i really liked how invested he was in this story and wanted to find answers. it was honestly so cool.

trigger warnings- rape (it was by a father figure,) parental abandonment, drug use, death of family member, child porn, pedophilia, drug abuse, and death of a sister.

anyway, that’s all for today. i really liked this book so much, but i wish that this book was adult then YA, cause then it can be freer, but it still worked. and that if it was adult, it could go into more darker topics, and more indepth. i do feel like this is for older YA, not the 12-14 year olds.
