hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all your perfects by Colleen Hoover. i gave this book 5/5 stars. holy crap, this book was so emotional and just so hard hitting and whatnot.
one thing that kinda annoyed me, was that that Quinn and Graham were like “i really want a baby,” and that they overall just wanted a family. but, then they would get talking, then they would be like “maybe not, we’ll i don’t really know.” that was kinda annoying, cause she really wanted a baby but then he’s like we don’t want a baby let’s just get a dog. so, that just was annoying to me, but i still think that it made the story better to some degree.
with that being said, i think it was kinda annoying on how Graham was so anti baby, when Quinn wanted a baby so bad. i mean she had melt down after melt down after she found out she wasn’t pregnant. i mean he needed to learn that she wanted the baby so bad. i guess this made it seem more real, and not as fake as far as relationships go.
personally, i think it was so cool that we got to see the whole back and forth, and how their relationships start and then how the ended up. it was just so cute. and i feel like because we got to see the relationship when they first started, it really shaped the way of their romance today. it really helps show how everything can go hand in hand.
okay, so basically they have this box, that is talked about. it confused the hell out of me, but i’ll explain more so if you haven’t read it, it will confuse you in the start. because basically, when they got married, they wrote these notes about what they want in their life, and then they put it in this box. but, if they want to get a divorce, or they hit their ten year, they can open the box.
personally, i wish we got more information about the box in the start. since, we only got Quinn wanting to open then Graham telling her not to open it. i feel like it would be useful to know some information at the start, not just at the end.
this could be a spoiler, but i strongly advise you to read on. basically, maybe a little more then 50%, Quinn has a miscarriage. it was really hard just to read about, and since it was talked about really hard. i really wish it was talked about more, and how they can grow into it more. it was just a lot of crying and saying that everything was bad.
this is actually a spoiler- but it really annoyed me that Graham cheated on Quinn. i mean they met because of someone cheating, and now he went on cheating with someone. it was honestly so annoying.
Quinn- i honestly just wanted to give her a hug. she went through some shit in this book, and it was really heart breaking. i mean she couldn’t get pregnant and exhausted her, but then also miscarried a baby.
Graham- i really liked his character. he was such a nice guy, for the most part. i mean he definitely had some parts where he was kinda of a dick at parts. but, he really came around.
trigger warnings- miscarriage and infertility
anyway, that’s all for today. this was a really hard hitting book. i think that this book also had some really great plot points about a life that isn’t perfect, when ever thinks it is good.
hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about my advice for starting bookstagram, but then a blog. i honestly had no clue what to talk about, and since today is my 2 year bookstagram, i decided to write this about my advice and what i learnt on the 2 years on bookstagram and then almost one year with a book blog.
bookstagram advice-
FIND ACCOUNTS THAT YOU LIKE-
i feel like that this is such a basic thing, but also such an important thing. when i first started, i kinda got my inpso for my photos. and half of the accounts and the photos i took i didn’t even like because that’s what i thought was popular and what got most likes. so, yes, follow some of those bigger accounts, but, also find some smaller ones that you can become friends with and then grow together.
MAKE FRIENDS-
this isn’t the most important thing whatsoever on bookstagram, but it might help. i mean you’ll never know what is going to happen with them. i’ve made a couple friends, who i think are so amazing, and i’ll talk to all the time. but, there definitely is a “bad part” of bookstsgram, where the homopbobes are, and you don’t want to be associated with them.
FIND PEOPLE IN FANDOMS YOU LIKE-
this is honestly so important. i mean, if you met people that read mainly fantasy, and you contemporary you can’t talk about books that much, since you guys don’t read the same type of books. and fandoms are so important, i mean, you should be able to talk about books or fandoms that you are in. so, both of you can fangirl about the same books or series together, which is always really nice.
CHANGE YOUR THEME TO FIND WHAT YOU LIKE-
this kind of goes hand in hand with finding accounts you like, since you need to find what you like and what you think is the right way to your account. it took me months to figure out what i liked, and i’m still trying to figure it out. my best advice is, keep changing your theme to figure out what you like. and don’t feel upset to figure out what filter or your layout, since everyone went through it.
DON’T FEEL BAD IF YOU DON’T HAVE A CAMERA OR AN AMAZING SET UP-
there are many people on bookstagram that have these DSLR camera, or some fancy software for editing and then overhead lights. but, there also many people who just use their iphones, i’m one of those people who uses an iphone. when i first started bookstagram i was so self conscious, and when i say so, i mean severely. but, then i learnt that this was just like a hobby, so why would i need this big camera for a hobby. and when you are starting bookstagram, don’t go buy this expensive camera, and also lighting and whatever else you think you need to fit in, cause who knows if you want to commit to it.
HASHTAGS ARE YOUR BEST FRIENDS-
honestly, this is one of the best ways to grow your account. they help so much, since many people will scroll through the hashtags. this is so helpful because people are looking for inspiration, which leads them to follow you if they really like it. so, hashtags are your best friend. when finding the right hashtag that you need to use, use your basic ones that you can find on every bookstagram post, and also the ones about the book(s) and author(s) that are featured in the post.
NATURAL LIGHT IS YOUR BEST FRIEND-
honestly, this makes all the difference in your photos. with using natural light, it literally makes your photos look so much cleaner looking and it helps them look more professional. and when you use a lamp or LED lights that everyone has on their wall, it will make all your pictures have a yellowy look to it, no matter how many filters you slap on it.
book blog advice-
POST THE ‘BASIC’ CONTENT-
this is honestly my best piece of advice when you want to post on a blog. basically, the basic content is just things that a lot of people will read. if you are wondering what the basic content is, it is your book hauls, wrap ups, and then tbrs. those are your stables in the bookish community, (it helps if you post them on bookstagram and also your book blog.)
POST THE CONTENT YOU LIKE-
for me, i try to post some of the content that are more popular in the community, but then post what you like. you don’t need your blog to look like some famous blogger, since we don’t need five of the same blogs run by five different people. like i already said, i post the popular stuff, but i also go to post reviews for all the books i’ve read since that is what i like to do.
IF YOU REVIEW, TAKE NOTES WHEN YOU READ!!!-
when i first started reviewing, i literally did not write down what i thought when i was reading. it was honestly so stupid, and i would just pull stuff out of my ass of what i remembered. so those reviews weren’t even good. where now, when i read, i write down ever little thought i had, good or bad, i write it down.
READ WHAT YOU WANT TO READ-
again, when i first got into reading and showing the world my thoughts and what i was reading, i read the really popular books. basically i read the books i’ve seen a lot of people were reading, and like the books of the summer and whatever. and i also read only YA contemporary, which didn’t hit it for me. so, overall story, you can read whatever the hell you want.
my general advice-
post the content you like, don’t make it the same content that other people post. we don’t want the same content over and over again. and we don’t need to have five of the same person, cause we want you to be your own person.
use a calendar, physical or on the internet. to me, this was honestly such a fundamental in my life. i write down all the blog post that i want to get up, and what day, and then what they are, and use pencil cause you will make a ton of mistakes. and i also do the same for my photos, i schedule everything down, but this is on my notes on my phone.
SELF PROMOTE!!!! when i say self promote, i don’t mean commenting on people’s post “hi i’m a 15 year old bookstagrammer and i really like this book and that book. i do a lot of if you follow me, i’ll follow you.” of whatever you want to say. don’t do that. but, right now you’ll be saying, “what do you mean when you say self promote then?” i mean post on your bookstagram that you have a new post up on your blog. and also talk about your Instagram on your blog.
you don’t need to read every book. when i first started, i was such a person that thought i need to read every book in the world. and it was such a toxic mind set. read what you want to read. don’t feel like you have to read each book that gets published and whatnot. read what you like and what you will enjoy.
post regularly!!! this is such a stable in the world of social media. for me, i post every day on Instagram, roughly at 2:30. (also pick a time that you post every day, so your followers know to look out for it.) and then for my blog i post roughly Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and then Sunday. you might get an extra post on Monday or Friday, so i’m kinda all over the place if you couldn’t tell.
anyway, that’s it for today. this post was literally all over the place, and i could probably make a second post about this, since i think i have a lot of insight on it, (i don’t i just like to think i do.) and yeah, if you want to talk more about tips, either comment on this, or just shot me a dm on Instagram (r.bookish) or on twitter (bookish_r.)
hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about they went left by Monica Hesse. i gave this book 3/5 stars. i didn’t like this book that much, it was pretty boring and i really hated the ending, which i’ll talk about more later.
okay, so this book is set in Germany i believe. so, they will speak German, but in the whole book for the most part is in perfect English. it’s kinda stupid because who they wrote the paragraphs in perfect English. i would rather prefer if they weren’t in perfect English since they are German. and even as the story goes on, the talking part gets better English then it should have, and it kinda pissed me off.
i do feel like this book has a lot of romances. which i’ll talk about a little bit i guess. i do feel like we got all these different ships and could be romances, and then they just never went anywhere. like they just dropped off a cliff which was annoying. and i wish everything just flowed better.
i haven’t read that much of WW2 books, or any books set in 1945. so, i don’t know all of the society rules that where being told in this time period. but, i think all the kissing and the sex wasn’t ‘normal’ for people to do out of marriage, since society hates it today. but, what kinda pissed me off that Zofia was like “oh i don’t really want to do it.” but then it happens and they have sex and whatever. it’s kinda annoying because she didn’t really want to have sex and was kinda scared to do it, but then she does it anyway, which is annoying.
i do feel like this book wasn’t that gruesome as people say. it is really brushed over, and we pretty much only get told that these people die and these people don’t and then how they die. but, there is a a little talk about what it is like in the camps, but it is never told in that much detail, just like people get sick and that the conditions where terrible and then people died. there isn’t even that much talk about the medical experiments either.
but, overall, i found this book pretty boring. i mean nothing happened to much, so it was kinda annoying. i mean not to much happened, i mean it was just a ton of random events and then Zofia eating and talking with friends. so, i guess it just didn’t have a lot of substances, which was annoying.
i do wish we got more background on all the characters. i mean there is a ton of characters that were either family members, or just people Zofia passes on the journey. i would really like to see more about Zofia’s family and about their past and whatnot.
personally, i think that the first 10 chapters were so amazing. and they honestly kept my attention, but everything else was like worst. and i honestly feel like it got worst, and it was just a bunch of words and nothing really made sense.
honest to god, i feel like everyone in this book was people getting their happy endings, and i had a huge argument on this, so don’t come for me. i mean pretty much every character, but Zofia, got their happy ending with marriages and finding family and whatnot. but, Zofia would get really close to be happy, and was like “lol no it’s not going to happy.” and it annoyed me a lot, because she honestly could have had her happily ever after, or at least a happy ending, but she just pushed everyone away and whatnot.
but, i do feel like that all the start and then the middle, we got so much detail and just worthless information, where the ending literally gave me whiplash. and it literally just went so fast, and did not make any sense, because it just went so fast. i mean it could have been so much better.
Zofia- this might not make sense whatsoever, but Zofia completely reminds me of those people/characters is that you can literally go to the store together, and she’d just say that everything would look so good on her and then they would just make literally everything about herself and nobody can have any glory. which, is just so annoying.
Alec-honest to god, i wish we got more character development for his character. i mean he kinda acted like a baby, which was so annoying cause he was like 12. but, he was just so needy.
trigger warnings– death of family
anyway, that’s it for today. i didn’t really like this book, even though it got all the hype from booktubers. but, i still think that it had some good parts, but for the most part it was pretty bad in my mind.
hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about city of bones by Cassie Clare. i gave this book 3/5 stars. this was another reread, and it was an okay read, i still didn’t really care for most of this book, and that everything just didn’t make sense and was just way to very quickly wrote together.
it was kind of annoying that everything was described in such detail. i mean it was so annoying. like it was very similar to how most classic YA books that are the authors first. it was so annoying how things where described like what each passing person looks like, and how the club looks like and how New York it is. honestly, it annoyed the hell out of me and we did not need any of that in my opinion.
but, this whole book about Jace feels “i’m not like other guys” and it was kinda annoying. i mean i said that like 5 times. and it just got really repetitive when they said it over and over again. and in the start, and especially when they both where in the insinuation he said it multiple times.
i also feel like Jace has a whole “i’m a bad boy,” when he really isn’t. and it annoyed me that thing didn’t make sense. and that he was trying to be for one. he’s not like other guys and then two. i’m a bad boy. so, that was kind of annoying throughout the book, and especially the whole party scene.
i do feel like the whole book had very slow world building and all the meeting of all the different characters. it was kinda annoying, cause i mean this book is just set in New York i mean this took pages and pages. yeah, there are a few things that are different, then the real world, but it’s not even that much.
all of these characters feel very one dimensional. and i guess i expected something different, because it has like a movie series, and then a whole tv show. and when i read this for the first time, i really enjoyed this book. but, this wasn’t even that good.
but, this book gives like no taste in my mouth. it was just like tasteless and has no point. like it didn’t even leave anything in my mind. like when i read romance books, i think about it for like a day when i finished it and thinking about their romances and how they would get married and her dress and where it was, and then how many kids etc. but, for this, i just forgot about this book and never gave it a single thought whatsoever.
this is going to be a spoiler- i feel like the whole “oh yeah Jace and Clary are like brother and sister.” i feel like it was just uncomfortable since all they did was kiss and have all these feelings, when they where just like oops sorry y’all are related and not in like a second cousin way. it was just so gross. and i feel like this was supposed to be this amazing plot point, but it isn’t, it just makes everyone uncomfortable.
Clary- honestly, she would never shut the hell up, and it was annoying as hell.
anyway, that’s it for today. i had a pretty terrible time when i was reading this. but, who knows if i’ll like the rest of the series, because i already own them, so i’ll probably read it.
hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about hush hush by Becaa Fitzpatrick. i gave this book 4/5 star. i read this book for a blog post, which i’ll link right here. i really liked this book, and i thought it was overall pretty good.
personally, i don’t see why everyone says this book is so sexy and smutty. i mean they barely even touch each other. so, how can this be so sexy and whatever if they never touch? i mean it’s so stupid and i guess because Patch is shirtless, so it has to be smutty.
i do feel like this book has many parts that where similar to twilight. i mean they met in the same class, and the overall plot was pretty similar. and i guess that a lot of books with a paranormal character have the same thing and vibe. where it is somewhat similar to twilight. and this was kinda just a different kinda character, so a fallen angel instead of a vampire.
but, i do think that some of the plot was just straight out of twilight. i mean they where in the same class, bio, and then Nora does the same events that Bella does, stupidly, and it just annoyed me cause i already read twilight.
this book has this kind of humor in it. i mean i thought it was pretty cool since it just made them flirting with kind of a sarcastic manner. and i personally thought it was kinda cool and very funny just to read.
i do feel like this book had no plot and that Fitzpatrick wanted the whole book to have a different plot, and was like okay lets add this and then some of this, and then this. so they just needed to add so much into the plot, even though it didn’t make any sense.
i also think that Fitzpatrick gave this book to many villains. i mean just think there was like 4, but i mean i think there is a shit ton more that i just forgot about. i mean it’s just insane. like we don’t need at least four villains.
there is also a lot of fat shamming going in this book. i mean Vee is really like “i want to get skinny” and all they do is talk about how she can’t eat this ans that. and also that she needs to eat so many fruits and vegetables. and how fat she is, when everyone else is skinny. and this honestly triggered me so much, and it was just so toxic.
this is kinda a spoiler- but i honestly have no clue why nobody thought that something wrong was going on with Jules and Elliot. i mean you can just tell that they are doing something weird is going on. but, Vee was just like, who the hell cares. and it was just so annoying in this book.
Nora- here’s the thing, she’s the girl in those fear street stories that will yell at you, whenever you do anything, but then is the first one that gets killed by the killer. and that she is the one that also is like “holy shit the killer is this person,” when it isn’t. i mean she just jumps to one logic to the next. i’m not sure when this happens, or even if that is that book. and she goes crazy that she can hear patch in her mind. and she’s like questioning him, and it’s like hunny you look insane. which is honestly just so annoying. and that she is very stuck in her head, and thinks that she is right for everything. i also feel like her thoughts chance like 50 times.
Patch- he was kinda a weird character to talk about. i mean i think he was wrote as trying to be mysterious and sexy, but then he needs to be a bad boy and everyone needs to know that. then, he’s scary and dangerous, over and over again. and then they are like, he needs to be a sexy and scary bad boy.
Trigger Warnings- fat shamming
anyway, that is it for today. this book was really crazy to talk about, since i don’t remember anything that happened, besides the things i wrote done. but, i do think it was still kinda a good book for the most part.
hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about first love by Emily Raymond and James Patterson. i gave this book 2/5 stars, but it could honestly be 1.5 stars. i talked about this book in another post, and it’s linked right here.
my biggest issue with this book as a whole, i think that this book is a complete knock off the fault in our stars. and yeah, i guess there are some differences like this follows a cross country trip. but, it still has the basic underlying plot, that it could be heavily compared to TFIOS.
if your a big plot person, this book isn’t for you. i mean i think this whole books plot was told in matter of ten pages in. i mean we got told everything that was the basic plot in a matter of pages. and the rest of the book was literally just random crap in happening. and nothing had no point of anything happening, which is just so stupid.
also, the writing was so terrible. i like to believe that i can pick out good writing from bad. so, i think that the writing in stalking jack the ripper had good writing, and books like this and again but better had very terrible writing. and i kinda went into this book thinking that it would be a decent book, since i considered this a favorite for a while. but damn, the writing in this book just threw me off. i mean i’m not sure why it thought this was going to have perfect or good writing, since the rest of his books have really bad writing.
but, i also think this book just had the feeling of a 65 year old trying to write an attempt to write a 16 year old. i mean, it honestly feels like Patterson just like asked his granddaughter and was like “what do teenagers do today and what do they like?” which just lead to all the random crap that was put in this book. and damn, this author cannot write a 16 year old for the life of them.
i understand completely that teenagers want to have fun, i mean i sure as hell do, but i don’t think having fun means committing felony after felony and stealing cars. i mean it just didn’t make sense in my mind. like how is committing felonies fun for your basic high school girl.
if you follow me on twitter, or even Instagram, you know i watch a ton of blue bloods and Chicago pd. so i like to think i know my way around being a detective, but i sure as hell know even if you are somewhat invisible, someone will report you missing. and i guess Axi’s fathers is an alcoholic, but she is still is in school and not attending, so wouldn’t that raise some flags that she’s been kidnapped or something, and the same goes for Robinson. that just didn’t make any sense to me honestly.
but, another thing that happens in this book, Axi and Robinson take a cop car, which is honestly insane. i mean if they go past a traffic cam, wouldn’t someone think “oh shit i don’t think two teenagers should be driving this car.” i mean that is honestly just common sense.
in the start of the book, i’m pretty sure Axi says combined they have like something like 500 to 700 dollars. and i mean i guess that is a lot of money. but, to travel cross country with gas, food, hotels, and whatever else they got. i mean it’s insane that they could survive off of that much, and it honestly did not make sense. i mean it literally could not have happened.
on a lighter topic, it kinda made me laugh that she got a dress from Forever 21. i mean for one, they live in this small ass town, so i don’t know why they would have a Forever 21 out of all stores. and, why the hell would you get a forever 21 dress, like really that store? all their hoodies and shirts say “tacos before bros.”
i’m not the best person with geography whatsoever, just to put it in perspective, in sixth grade we had to do this geography test and i failed the practice test, and the regular test, and then one retake. so, my teacher had to mark all the “famous” cities for each one. but, the biggest thing is that in this book they started somewhere by Washington, and they ended in like North Carolina. it’s probably not exact, but it’s somewhere like that. but, the biggest thing is that they went from like Washington to then California, then to Las Vegas then they skipped all the way to Detroit, then skipped all the way to somewhere to New York, and then skipped all the way to North Carolina. i mean they literally just skipped states, and they drove, so it’s not even liked they flew, which would make more sense.
but, i do think this book romanticizes stealing cars, running away and honestly having a Bonnie and Clyde feel. i mean i think it’s just insane for teenagers or younger kids to read this book and get in there head that this is okay. and that someone would think this is okay and then do all this garbage.
this could be taken as a spoiler if you haven’t read this, and didn’t understand what i was saying about the fault in our stars, don’t read on. but, basically we learn on this journey that Axi and Robinson met at this cancer hospital, and they both had cancer from time to time when they were younger. and basically we, and Axi, both learn that Robinson’s cancer came back. which leads to a bunch of shit. but, what my main point is that Robinson’s heart stops beating, and Axi sees, and is literally like ‘holy shit what should i do?’ and i watch some Chicago med, and i see what they do on there. so, wouldn’t you start trying to get him to read, or start those chest compressions? not just sit and stare at him.
Axi- honestly, she gave off major iM nOt LiKe OtHeR gIrLs vibe. i mean she was ~quirky~ and had no friends and was a loner. which was just completely annoying to me. and if she was a person, she would have one of those annoying ass voices that are so high pitched in like say yes to the dress.
Robinson- he was so annoying. i mean i think that he was kinda a weird character. i mean he just dropped out of high school just to drop out of school, which is just so annoying. and i honestly just never liked him whatsoever.
anyway, that’s it for today. i feel like this was a more sarcastic review. so, i mean i guess it will be somewhat enjoyable them, but who knows. and i feel like this is somewhat of a longer post, so i hope it is somewhat of a good post.
hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about after we fell by Anna Todd. i gave this book 1/5 stars. no surprise, but i hated this book so much. it was honestly such a stupid book, and had no real plot. which was kinda annoying throughout the story. but, i don’t know if i expected different, since i hated the first two. this is going to be a pretty long review.
my biggest issue with this book is that this book was so sexist. for example, multiple times Hardin calls Tessa “my girl,” or ” she’s my person.” this annoyed the hell out of me, since for one, she is a human, and for two she is a person, so she isn’t nobodies girl. and it’s not even like she is six, so she needs her parents to do everything for her. she’s literally like 19ish, she can do everything by herself.
throughout this book Tessa has all these different philosophical meanings about stupid things. the biggest thing is the whole Barbie doll crap in the start. she was describing everything about this doll and what it all means about her. when it literally doesn’t mean a damn thing, it is a child toy. it isn’t about how it has the perfect life and shit.
with this book, basically Tessa kept talking and trying to get with Zed, and Hardin keeps trying to talk about Molly and always being with her. in my mind, i don’t understand Hardin gets so pressed when Tessa is with Zed. but, i think that Tessa is only with Zed to make Hardin jealous. but, she always says “Zed isn’t like Hardin, he is completely different then Hardin.” when Zed isn’t a good guy, he’s just like Hardin. so, i don’t know why she thinks different.
but, Todd always tries to do all of these plot twists and how everything is different. but, it is so easy to see all of these plot twists. like it isn’t hard to see them. you can literally see them from 5 states away. it is so annoying how they kept saying how amazing this is. i mean this is just honestly insane.
i’ve kinda already talked about this, but Hardin had multiple friends that where females, and yeah Tessa was jealous, but then Tessa had like one male friends but Landon, and Hardin freaks the hell out. it is so annoying because nobody cares if Tessa is talking to a guy in the back of a restaurant.
in this book, we get Hardin and Tessa going to this lake house with Hardin’s dad and his wife and Landon. and they are having this okay time. i mean Tessa and Hardin are fighting, which is normal, and then Hardin meets this girl next door, Lillian, who is pretty much just Tessa. so these two meet, and Tessa gets so upset about Hardin being with Lillian. and it is just so stupid because it is just to get Tessa jealous.
with in this book, there is an LGBTQ+ character. i’m not going to say who it is, but it is kinda a minor character to this story. they are literally only there for a plot device, and just to make all these characters jealous. this honestly annoyed me, since even though this is a character, it is still stupid. like this is only just a plot device, this character being LGBTQ+ didn’t do anything to the story.
just like the first book, this book has some stereotypes. the biggest one, and the one that annoyed me the most, is that homeless people are only in to drugs. i mean, sometimes this might be true, but some of them aren’t. it is honestly just so annoying to me. and i guess the homeless guy in this book is kinda a druggy, but it wasn’t the only thing he did.
also, in this book, Tessa is always defending Hardin whenever they said something mean about him. i understand that people would want to defend their signification other. but, in this book, i don’t understand why she always defended him. i mean, you would probably have blinders on for your boyfriend, but he was still so mentally and emotionally abusive.
the next two paragraphs will be spoilers, but i suggest you read these regardless. basically towards the end of the book, maybe at the 70% mark, maybe a little more. Tessa goes to this party with Zed. basically Zed goes away to the bathroom or to beer pong, i’m not sure which one, but Steph goes and gives Tessa a drink. but, Steph slides the date rape drug into the drink she gave her. which lead to Tessa getting almost sexuality assault by Steph, Dan, and Molly. but, i don’t think she gets rape, since Zed saves the day.
i feel like the whole sexual assault wasn’t talked about good whatsoever. it wasn’t in a positive way. i do hope this gets talked about in book four, but i do think Hardin knows about it in here, but i don’t remember him doing anything besides his normal freak out. i know, i make fun of this book a ton, but this book does dive deeper into serious topics throughout this book and i really hope they get talked about more in book four.
this paragraph isn’t spoilers, but it kinda is at the same time. the whole plot point for this book is Tessa moving to Settle. and i personally think that was the right move for her character, so she isn’t tied down to this place she hates. and i feel like this adds the growth in her character where she doesn’t have to be tied down to Hardin and that she can finally be a grown woman. and it also grows Hardin and Tessa’s relationship and they overall.
now this is actually a major spoiler. i find it honestly ridiculous that Hardin didn’t know that his ‘dad’ wasn’t his dad. i mean you got to think somewhat that you don’t really look a like that much. that’s just common sense. but, i do think it is insane that Hardin’s mom was hooking up with Vance, who is really Hardin’s dad, the night before her wedding. and then just to make it crazier, Hardin’s mom actually gets married to the other guy. (side note, but i really feel bad for Kimberly and Smith.)
Hardin- as much as i hate his character, i believe that he grew up more in this book. i mean i think he really understood Tessa and wasn’t so controlling about Tessa as he was in the other books. i honestly wish he would just be more chill though, and just love Tessa. i mean he was so concern of getting married and not wanting too.
Tessa- she was so annoying. i literally think she was so dramatic about everything. i mean all she did was say “omg Hardin you need you move over,” and, “i love Settle so much.” i mean she was just so annoying.
Trigger Warning- sexual assault
anyway, that’s it for today. i really didn’t care for most of their characters and i think this book is pretty bad. i guess that this book was so annoying. i mean this book will get better in the next one.
hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about finale by Stephanie Garber. i gave this book 2/5 stars. i also talked about this book in another blog post. so, its linked right here. i personally did not like this book whatsoever. which, i thought was pretty normal since i didn’t like the second book either.
but, this whole book had a lot of back and forth. it went back and forth from different times and then when the mom was younger. i honestly hated it, since we just didn’t need it. and it just made the story really did do anything to it.
and i honestly feel like this book tried to put to many different plot points, and different tropes that are in fantasy books 24/7. and it honestly didn’t work well for what the whole series was. so spoiler time- i thought it was kinda stupid that they where just like, okay well lets give Scarlet powers now, since we don’t have anything else to do.
another spoiler- i personally think it is kinda gross that in the girls, who are sisters, are dating brothers. i personally think it was pretty weird, and that if one of them get married to one of them, they will be sister and brothers in law, which is just pretty weird. and i would never date anything like that.
but, i do think that there was so many love interests for Tella. and yeah, that might be like that cliche YA romance. and i think that the whole plot, and maybe even the whole love triangle thing does make sense. and that it literally did not do a lot to the plot, and then how back forth from the “who should i be with?” since it literally had no point, and it literally just added unneeded drama.
i honestly feel like the whole book was branded as this magical and a book packed with so much magic. when, i feel like this book did have just a whole lot of romance. and that just all the arguments from the different characters, and how they where so in love. but, it honestly doesn’t make sense. and it was just so stupid in my mind.
i also feel like this book has no character growth. and that it didn’t have anything to grow with the characters. i feel like it was very they grew so much in the first book, but then they grew a little bit in the second book, but holy hell, there was not any growth in this book.
honestly, i feel like this book tried to add so many different plot points at literally one time. and how they just over explained things, worst then after did. and i feel like Garber should have just picked one plot point, then make another plot point to the next book or just create with a new world or something. but, either way, it wouldn’t be a good one.
i’m really into YA romance and all those little tropes and those bad boys, but damn, i could not put up with the tropes and the ‘bad boy’ in this book. and i don’t really read that much YA fantasy, or fantasy in general, but i think that this book didn’t do the fantasy the right way. i mean two of my favorite series are the kingdom keepers and the cruel prince. but, i think they just use the tropes, and it works.
as i read this book, and i feel like the rest of the series also. i feel like everything was dumbed down. that it is easier for a middle grade, or really early YA. since it would be easier and since it doesn’t have that whole YA book feel. and yes, i guess there was no romance, but i still think it would be better for middle grade.
Scarlet- she was always one of my favorite character in this series. i personally thought she always had the best morals and that she always did everything right. but, i think in here she was pretty stupid and got stupider as it went on. and she always tried to please everyone but her. and always wanted to help Tella and Julian and pretty much everyone else. and it honestly annoyed the hell out of me.
Tella- she was such an annoying character. all he did was talk about how she missed her mom and how she would do anything for her mother, when she left them the first time, so why would she want to come back. it was honestly so annoying.
anyway, that is it for today. but, i honestly think it was a pretty terrible series, and i honestly didn’t like this series, besides the first book. but, i still think the series was okay, for the most part.
hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about you deserve each other by Sarah Hogle. i gave this book 3/5 stars. i personally think that Nick was pretty annoying and that everyone in this book was told to be an evil person.
i personally don’t understand why in this book, and a lot of romance books, why one of the couples parents are literally the devil and they just don’t like someone. where, in this book, Nick’s parents are absolutely terrible to Nick and also Naomi, but mainly Naomi.
i was pretty disappointed that everyone loved this book and i didn’t really like this. i honestly feel like everything that could go wrong, literally went wrong in this book, which was so annoying. and Naomi was just really rude to everyone or anyone.
this book is an enemy to lovers, but in a weird way. since Nick and Naomi are already together, but they do not get along whatsoever. but, i do think it was pretty cool. since, it wasn’t your basic romance trope, where they are like rival law firms or whatever, which i thought was pretty cool.
i also saw on goodreads and reading and listening to reviews, and pretty much everyone says that this book is really good for fans by The Hating Game by Sally Throne. granted, i never read that book, but from what all the reviews and things that people say about that book. it is more of a slow burn enemies to lovers, and they like just met. where, in here they are engaged, so i personally don’t really see how it is like the hating game.
with this book being branded like the hating game, it is also branded as a cute little romance. i honestly i think that they it was not cute, and it was overall pretty boring to the last maybe 50%. but, that is also being very generous in my mind. since, this book literally does not have any romance.
i actually almost dnfed this book literally like 5 times. but, i pushed through it since i knew that many people did like this book. but, this book did not get better. it literally did not pick up whatsoever. it was still a childish book with childish character.
on a more negative note, i really didn’t care that they where fighting then they where all in love, then back to fighting. it went back and forth so much and it was so annoying. i honestly wish, we got them just being mean to the in laws and then they just do stuff to piss each other off, but without all the yelling and Naomi didn’t want to kill Nick.
i honestly think the characters in this book where very arrogant and snobbish. for one, Naomi and Nick act like toddlers, and not the cute ones on Tik Tok and instagram. literally all the did was bitch about everyone and very immature. and Deborah was literally Miranda Presley from the devil wears prada and she doesn’t even have the growth that she kinda had in the book.
but, i do think all of the relationships where so toxic. literally every relationship, from mother to son or romantically, they still where so toxic. and it just didn’t still well for me. i mean, they where just so toxic and just Deborah was just a toxic character.
Naomi- honestly, i really think this character would be better so much in a romantic thriller book, since she really had that mind set as the love interest in this book. and i really feel like she just wanted a massive pity party in the book, so that she lost her job, her whole life is falling part. when, she is literally doing pretty fine in the money aspect. and it was pretty shitty that we were supposed to feel bad for her because her and her family are distant, when a lot of people have that.
Nick- i feel like this character was supposed to be the best character and is supposed to be a savior, when he was literally such a douche bag. and i’ve honestly seen so many people saying that he was like a Disney level charming hero, when he was just so rude. and he honestly tried to please everyone but his fiancee, which was annoying as hell.
Deborah- i normally don’t talk about other characters besides the couple in my reviews, but i do really have a lot of thoughts on her. i honestly found her one of the most toxic characters in this book. i mean she literally made Nick do everything for her and had him twisted around her finger. and she literally always talked about how fat Naomi and her husband where, which is just so annoying.
trigger warning- negative talk about body images and needing to loose weight cause you are “to fat for a wedding and is going to get sick.”
anyway, that is it for today. i didn’t really care for this book that much, and i honestly kinda wish i dnfed the book, even though the last couple pages where pretty good and overall pretty cute. but, i wish this book got branded better.
hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books i’m excited for that are coming out in July. i will be talking about some of the arcs that i got, that are also coming out this month.the arcs will be the books i talk about first.
the summer of ’98 by Tay Marley. i’ve actually already read this one, and i gave it 4/5 starsand this comes out July 21st.i honestly really liked this book. but, this book is a prequel to another story, i’m pretty sure it is published. but, this follows the boy in the other book, mom and dad and basically their story about falling in love and how they met.
trying not to love you by Amabile Giusti. this book comes out July 28th. i believe that this book was written Italian first, and then it got later translated to English. but, this is all about a girl named Penny who still lives with her grandma in an apartment. but, like everything goes, this bad boy moves right upstairs. and like everything goes, they meet and Marcus needs to help Penny become a real adult. but, if you do read this, i heard that the English version isn’t so much of a romance book, more of erotica.
Cinderella is dead by Kaylnn Bayron. this book comes out July 7th. this book is a book takes place 200 years after the events of the actual Cinderella movie. but, now girls have to be presented as wives to men at this annual ball. but, like every YA book, the main girl, Sophia doesn’t want to be a wife to any of these men. on the other side, she would rather be with her best friend of years, Erin.
the voting booth by Brandy Colbert. this one also comes out July 7th. this book gives me major feels of the sun is also a star. but, i really think this book will be very cute, even though i’m not into political romances. the description of this book is that Marva has been campaigning for months for this massive election, but she meets this boy, Duke, who would kill to vote, but he cannot vote. so, they work together to go to many different places to get him able to vote.
now and when by Sarah Bennett Wealer. this one comes out July 14th. basically, the idea of this book is that Skyler gets these text messages about her future, which are about this arrogant jerk, Truman. but, Sklyer isn’t happy about this whatsoever. which, of course leads them to getting together, most likely.
love disregarded by Rachel Blaufeld. this book comes out July 8th. but, this book is all about this second chance romance and how this couple broke up for the first time, but with what also led them back together. this just sounds so cute about how high school lovers can still always end right back with each other.
the deadly house by Charlie Gallagher. this book comes out July 14th. honest to god, i have no clue what this book is about, since literally nobody is talking about what this book is about. but, i believe this book is about a detective from England and that he gets some letter about this letter, so this leads him to trying to figure everything out.
and now for the books that i don’t have ARCs for.
the princess will save you by Sarah Henning. this book comes out July 7th. basically, this book is about a Princess whose father has recently died and now she has to rule this kingdom. but, that comes with a price. she either has to marry the prince from one of the four surrounding kingdoms or she gets her crown taken away and then maybe loose her life.
loveless by Alice Oseman. this book comes out July 9th. this book just sounds so amazing. but, this book follows Georgie who has been loveless for her whole lie. basically, she has never kissed anyone, never had a crush, but she is a romantic at heart, and loves all of the people in the fan fiction. but, she is going to go into her freshman year into college, and she really hopes to find her happily ever after.
The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune. this book comes out July 14th. this book is a real world fantasy. but the whole premise of this book is that there are superheros that just walk around the celebrities do. but, Nick is really into these superhero and he’s like knee deep into these people like people are into with Harry Styles.
today, tonight, tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon. this book comes out July 28. this sounds like such a cute book about this couple that is getting together in the end of high school. and the today, tonight, and tomorrow leads to them and how they grow together. so, today is the day she hates him, tonight she puts up with him, and then tomorrow she might just fall in love with him.
not another love story by Olivia Wildenstein. this book comes out July 7th. this sounds like such a cute romance book were a teenager girl really wants to be a singer, but then she met this boy who will and can mess up all of her plans. i’m not really into books with singing, but i still think this will be pretty cute.
the do over by Jennifer Honeybourn. this book comes out July 14th. this book is all about a teenage girl and how she is really want to be this popular girl. so, she gets this opportunity to have this do over, where she can redo a bunch of shit to get her in the popular group/A list group in her high school.
anyway, that is it for today. i think this book has so many amazing books coming out. but, also the rest of the year will have so many good books. so, these ones are just going to get longer and longer.
