spooky scary book tag freak week day 2

hello everyone! today i’m going to be doing a spooky scary book tag. today is freak week day 2. and if you don’t know what freak week it, it is the week of halloween where i post a new blog post everyday with the halloween theme. this one is a more bookish than the last one. i found this one on the sassy book geek.

1.) What goes bump in the night? Name a book that has legitimately scared you while reading it.

i don’t think any book has made me really scared when i was reading it, but if i stay by gayle forman definitely was kinda spooky for me to read. i don’t know why i was freaked out by it, since it’s a contemporary, but i think it was the aspect that she was reliving her life when she was dying.

2.) Jack O’ Lanterns and Classic Costumes: A book you always reach for during Halloween time.

i always want to read/ read any fear street by rl stine books. they are so creepy and murder filled i just completely love them. plus, these are the books that got me into reading heavily, so that’s probably part of the reason.

3.) Black Cats and Magic Mirrors: A book you love that is laced with superstition and/or magic.

probably the sweep series by cate tiernan. these books are what i like to call my harry potter, since they are filled with magic and romance. and since the main character is a practicing wicca, and does have some superstitions here and there.

4.) Witch’s Brew: Favorite witch character in any book/series.

again, i’m probably going to have to go with the main character of the sweep novels, morgan. who, practices wicca. or, i might have to say her love interest, hunter, who is pretty charming.

5.) Ghouls and Ghosts: A book that still haunts you to this day (good or bad).

i’m not quite sure, but probably the outsiders by se hilton in a good way.

6.) Haunted Graveyard: You’re all alone in a haunted graveyard, you get ONE book to give you comfort, which is it?

stalking jack the ripper by kerri maniscalo. i feel like it is really spooky, and will definitely comfort me greatly.

7.) The Undead: Favorite supernatural creatures to read about (i.e. vampires, zombies, werewolves, etc).

vampires all the way! i’m team edward for life, probaby why i love vampires so much. plus those movies are great.

8.) In the dead of night: Pick a book with a black cover.
the ousiders. i know i already talked about it, but i’ll mention it again and again and again.

and that’s it for this post! it was really fun to do. and there will be a new post tomorrow too! which i personally loved writing it!

spooky would you rather tag freak week day 1

hello everyone! so, today i’m going to be doing a spooky would you rather tag. it’s not completely bookish, but there are some bookish parts at the end. i found this tag on the bookish chick. and i thought this would be fun to do. plus, there will be a new blog post centered about halloween, also called freak week, from october 25- 31.

1 thriller or supernatural?

i would have to say thriller because i read more of those than i do supernatural.

2. ghosts or zombies?

probably ghosts. i’m not sure why, but i just don’t like zombies, and ghosts are pretty classic.

3. vampires or werewolf?

this is a pretty dumb question, because vampires all the way. #teamedwardforlife

4. witches or demon?

witches all the way. demon’s scare the life out of me.

5. Would you rather read a book with 13 chapters, or a book with a black cat on the cover?

i’m not into superstitions, but probably a black cat. i really want to own a black cat sometimes in my life.

6. Would you rather read a spooky book in the dark with only a candle for light, or by yourself in a locked brightly lit room?

probably in a brightly lit room, cause i feel like in a dark room would be too creepy, plus a candle light can’t be good lighting.

7. Would you rather face your worst fears, or be trapped in the mind of a killer?

this is a really good question! probably in a mind of a killer, cause that would be interesting way they think. plus the true crime buff in me would completely love to see that.

8. Would you rather watch a scary movie or read a scary book?

a scary book. i hate scary movies with a passion, and i think that spooky books are interesting.

9. Would you rather read spooky books during the fall time or all year?

i read whatever i want to read all year, and you might need some spooky stuff in the summer months too.

10. Would you rather read 10 spooky books in October or 10 spooky books all year?

10 spooky books all year. i feel like what i already said also goes with this answer.

life and death review

hello everyone! so, today i’m going to be reviewing life and death by stephenie meyer. i gave this book 5/5 stars. which i know is controversial, but i loved this book and the characters so much.

one of the first things i realized was, it was different from the original, but still the same. meaning, the same things happen and conversations. but, it was still different. and i actually preferred most of these conversations better than the original. probably just the way edythe talked and the way beau reacted.

next thing, i really like beau and edythe together. i really just like them as two different people, and they complemented each other. and i think they work better together than edward and bella.

i wish there was more books. i really like their story, and how they handle each situation as a couple. even though they are the same relationship and the same things happen, but i feel like it could be interesting because beau is a vampire.

i wish edythe family had a bigger role. they where only really in at school and then and the baseball scene. and, since their genders change, meaning their intrested might have changed slightly. and i think that it could be cool, just to see alice/archie, and if he still likes fanshion, and is emmett/eleanor is still really strong.

and i hope you enjoy this review. i definitely liked this book, and can’t wait to read the rest of the twilight series.

all we could have been review

hello everyone! today, i’m going to be talking about all we could have been by te carter. i gave this book 2.5/5 stars. i’ll explain more about this as i get into this, but i just didn’t like the book and found it really boring at parts.

first thing, i found lexi annoying. she was over dramatic and just complained everything. and most of the time she didn’t make a whole lot of sense. she tried so hard to be so private, but then confessed everything to her friends. and she just went back and forth and couldn’t make up her mind.

i don’t understand why she wanted to go unnoticed and glide through senior year, but joined drama and got friends and boyfriend. i get that every teenager wants to have friends, but, it’s almost like she has two completely different personalities.

i don’t understand about her blood shirt. so, in the start of the book, she talks about this shirt covered in blood. which you later realizes is about her brother. but, i don’t understand how she saw this said shirt, because the police or detectives had to take it, and would obviously put it in a bag.

start slow, picks up, gets slow, and then gets really boring. i really only found the parts with ryan and marcus interesting. it was just boring, since it was so slow. but, there definitely where better parts in between the two of them.

the whole book is about her high school life not her brother. and i felt like it was miss talked about. it’s talked about like you are learning about her brother and what he did, and him learning about what he did. but no, you get lexi in school, with her friends, complaining, and being an outcast.

they sound very young and cliche. i know that they are high school seniors, but they sound so young. and it’s not just the way they talk, it’s the way they act. plus, it’s so cliche. with the fake dating, the ‘love triangle,’ the parents not approving, her falling in love with the bad boy.

positive, i love marcus and lexi together. but, i think that it still is very much a middle school romance, but still they are very good together.

anyway, i hope you enjoy this. i know it was mostly me complaining, but still, i think it is worth reading, since it’s my opinion, and everyone has different opinion.

stealing parker review

hello everyone! so, today i’m going to be reviewing stealing parker by miranda kenneally. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i actually really liked this book, and it is a reread, which i didn’t know till i was in the middle of the book.

so, the first things i’m going to be talking about, which is very important for many people, is triggers. this book has quite a few triggers or things that i think can be a trigger for people. one thing that annoyed me, parker and her classmates talked about being lesbian and gay, as a sin, since they are catholic. and me being a catholic, i don’t give a damn if someone is gay. another thing is parker hated herself and had an eating disorder. which, is a trigger for a lot of people. if you think you could have any triggers make sure you check out goodreads, they will definitely explain them better.

this thing i already talked about, which is the catholic religion in this book. and like i already said, i’m catholic, and in this book, the religion was shown very terribly. they made it seem that all catholics hate people that are the same sex, hint hint why parker got picked on. and what really annoyed me, parker hated her mom that she came out as lesbian, but then she was making out with the baseball couch.

so, here’s the thing about parker and her 100 lovers. and every other chapter, she was like i love brian and then she was was i love will. she couldn’t make up her mind. it annoyed me, and in the end i wish she ended up with the other guy.

so, if you read this book, you will know what i mean when i talk about this. parker was always thinking, she wants to have sex with brian, but then when he was like, can we have sex? she was like, on i’m a virgin, which i don’t think she is. but, when she was saying that she doesn’t get to control their relationship, which i can see from both of their pov. brian wanted to keep it a secret, hence why it was all in the trunk, and i can see why parker wants to go someplace with him.

so, one of my next questions is, parker was a ‘virgin,’ but everyone in her school say, oh we had sex. and it happened over and over again. it was really confusing, and i just didn’t understand that. but, it could just be misconception.

so, i hope you enjoyed this. i know i was talking about sex for a good portion for this, but this is what the book was talking about.

the perks of being a wallflower review

hello everyone! so, today i’m going to be reviewing the perks of being a wallflower by stephan chbosky. i gave this book 2/5 stars, and i’ll explain more about that later.

one of my first issues was, the main character, charlie or logan, i called him logan for a good portion of the book. but, getting back on topic, i found it quite annoying that he cried a lot. every other minute he was crying. and then he would freak out. i just couldn’t handle this, since it happened so much.

another issue is charlie was so hopeless and i just didn’t like him so much. i think it’s only me, but i didn’t like him.

i feel like they are always smoking or eating dinner. there was no in between.

i’m sorry that this isn’t that long, but i just don’t want to keep talking about this one, since i didn’t like this one.

looking for alaska review

hello everyone! today i’m going to review looking for alaska by john green. so, i’ve actually read this book once, and i actually gave it 5/5 stars when i read it the first time, this time i gave this book a 2/5 stars.

so, now going into the real review, all they talked about in this book was people’s last words and body parts, and i’ll talk about those now.

so, with talking about death, it was every word that they said, was about people dying and their famous last words. and it was quite annoying, since nobody wants to read that garbage. it was really repetitive, since it was talked about so much.

and like i said before, the body parts. when they weren’t talking about death, they where talking about body parts. mainly alaska boobs, which i found really unnecessary and very very disgusting. and they also talked about miles being way to skinny, which was also really unnecessary. and that one scene with miles girlfriend, which you probably know what i’m talking about if you read it, was so gross and unnecessary.

for me, i feel like most of the scenes are so gross and very weird. if you think more about this, john green is an adult, and this kids are 17, even though they are fictional, it feels really weird and sexual. it made me feel really uncomfortable when i read it needless to say.

but, for me, the whole ‘don’t drink and don’t smoke’ which was bull and the father knew it would be bull. and they drank like sailors and they smoked so much, it was ridiculous.

in the long run, i hated this book. alaska death was drawn out to long, and hazel cried less then miles did and it was her fricking boyfriend.

anyway, i hope you enjoyed this. i definitely didn’t enjoy this, and probably would never read this book again.

september wrap up

hello everyone! so, today i’m going to be talking about the books i read in september. i actually had a bad reading month, since school was really stressful and i had a bunch of tests that i had to study for.

anyway, so i dnfed two books, which was sorcery of thorns by margaret roberson. i didn’t like the characters, and overall very boring. i just couldn’t get into this book sadly, but i might read this later, if i’m in the mood.

and the second one is the female of the species. i’m not sure who the author is, but you can look it up. but i dnfed this, since they talked about a lot animal abuse, and i didn’t like that part, and the characters confused the hell out of me.

now to the books i read this month. so, i actually only read 4 books, like i already said, school has taken a hit on my mental health and my reading life. it also doesn’t help that i picked 2 bigger books.

so, the first book i read was there will be lies by nick lake. i wrote a review for this, and you can check it out if you want to see more of my thoughts on this books. but, i gave it 3/5 stars. i found this book confusing and the dreaming part was stupid.

and the second book i read was capturing the devil by kerri maniscalo. i gave this book a 5/5 stars. i really love this book, and i think it was a great ending to this amazing series. and this book has so many feelings and it was very very good.

and the next book i read was looking for alaska by john green. i gave this book a 2/5 stars. the blog post review isn’t up yet, but it will be up soon. i thought that they talked about body part way to much and all the characters where kinda annoying.

and the final book is the perks of being a wallflower by stephan chbosky. i gave this 2/5 stars. i just found this book boring, and the review will be up soon.

so, i hope you enjoy this, it wasn’t an amazing reading month, but i did read some quality books.
