anti tbr book tag | blogmas day 5

hello everyone! happy blogmas day 5! today i am going to be doing the anti tbr book tag. this tag sounds so fun and i honestly can’t wait to get a bit controversial with some of the books i pick for these questions.

A POPULAR BOOK EVERYONE LOVES THAT YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING

carry on by rainbow rowell. i honestly know people love this series so much, but i honestly have zero interest in reading this book series, since they just sound so boring and not that good honestly. and i mean, i know this author is problematic, so this is honestly just pushing me away from reading it more.

A CLASSIC BOOK OR AUTHOR THAT YOU DON’T HAVE ANY INTREST IN READING

animal farm by george orwell. i know this book has kind of mixed opinions, but i honestly don’t want to read this at all. like i already kind of know what it is about, so that is just turning me off from this book more and more and i think that it is not something i would ever willingly read.

AN AUTHOR WHOSE BOOKS YOU HAVE NO INTREST IN READING

sarah j maas. i honestly know people love her so much, but i really have no interest in reading any of her books. like, i do think i tried to read a couple of her books, but then i just stopped after the first couple pages cause i didn’t like them at all. and i mean, there is probably way better smutty books out there then these books.

A PROBLEMATIC AUTHOR WHOSE BOOKS YOU HAVE NO INTREST IN READING

i mean, if they’re problematic, i won’t read their books.

AN AUTHOR YOU HAVE READ A COUPLE OF BOOKS FROM AND HAVE DECIDED THEIR BOOKS ARE NOT FOR YOU

rick riordan. i’ve read multiple of his books / the books that he publishes under his company, and he is honestly someone i have no interest in reading from again and i honestly just don’t like his writing style.

A GENRE YOU HAVE NO INTREST IN OR A GENRE YOU TRIED TO GET INTO BUT COULDN’T

never say never, i guess, but for me i would say manga. i know this is such a popular genre, but i honestly don’t want to read it. like, i’m honestly just not interested in this type of book.

A BOOK YOU HAVE BOUGHT BUT WILL NEVER READ (THIS CAN BE A BOOK YOU HAVE UNHEAULED / RETRUNED TO THE LIBRARY UNREAD)

duke actually. this was honestly a book that i was really excited for, seeing that i got an arc for it and all. but, now i really just don’t want to read this book and not just interested in this book any more, so i deleted it off my kindle app.

A SERIES YOU HAVE NO INTREST IN READING OR A SERIES YOU STARTED AND HAVE DNF’D

crave by tracy wolff. i read the first book, but i feel like this was so bad. like, i honestly didn’t like it and i honestly really hated it, since i feel like they were just so cliche and kind of like a rip off of twilight, which really hated. and i think that this book was just so annoying.

A NEW RELEASE YOU HAVE NO INTREST IN READING

the gentleman’s guide to vice and virtue by mackenzi lee. i’m not sure this book is considered a new release, but it does have newer books coming out. i honestly don’t really care about this book / this series and have no interest in reading this.

anyway, that is all for today! i honestly really liked doing this and it was so fun. like, i feel that some of these answers could change, and i don’t really know if i’m going to change what i say.

disney book tag

hello everyone! today i am going to be doing the Disney book tag. not many people know, but I am a massive Disney fan, so when i saw this tag, i knew i had to do it, since i love Disney so much.

The Little Mermaid – A character who is out of their element

Eliza and her monsters by Francesca Zappia

i would definitely have to say this one, since she is so used to being an online personal, and all of her friends on online, she doesn’t have a concrete in real life friends beside her boyfriend, whose name i forgot.

Cinderella – A character who does through a major transformation

Aubrey Rose from Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalo

i would say, in the first book she was very nervous, but as the series go on, she becomes more independent and does take no as an answer. plus, she finally comes to the conclusion that she loves Thomas.

Snow White – A book with an eclectic cast of characters

the kingdom keepers by Ridley Pearson

i feel like it is such a good one for this prompt A. its a Disney story and B. all the characters are an amazing cast of characters and all have different races/accents and all do something differently.

Sleeping Beauty – A book that put you to sleep

if i stay by Gayle Forman, Looking for Alaska by John Green, or Perks of being a wallflower by Stephan Chbosky.

it was hard just to pick one, since i hated them all so much, and they all put me to sleep.

The Lion King – A character who had something traumatic happen to them in childhood

Ponyboy Curtis from The outsiders by SE Hilton

this one was hard to find a book that fit this but, i think Ponyboy did have some bad things that have happened to him, with his parents getting killed and everything else that has happened.

Beauty & The Beast – A Beast of a book (big book) that you were intimidated by but found the story to be beautiful

a curse so dark and lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

this book is about 500 pages. and it was really big for me, since i read mainly contemporaries, so this book was so big, but it was such a beautiful story when i read it, in a way.

Aladdin – A character who gets their wish granted, for better or worse

Bella Swan from Twilight

i mean she did want to become a vampire, so she did get her wish from Edward and the Cullen’s in general, even though they didn’t gamble for a baby.

Mulan – A character who pretends to be someone or something they are not

Cardan from the Cruel Prince by Holly Black

he really tries to be mean and cruel, when he is really so nice and sweet to Jude as the books go on and their relationship grows.

Toy Story – A book with characters you wish would come to life

stalking jack the ripper by Kerri Maniscalo

i would love for Thomas and Audrey Rose to come to life, since i think they would be so fun and nice to hang out with, and probably go to Disney with.

Disney Descendants – Your fave villain or morally ambiguous character

Maleficent

so technically she isn’t a book character, but she is in the kingdom keeper series, so technically she would count, since she is in a book.

anyway, thank you so much for reading, and i hope you enjoyed. i’m sorry if there was any spelling or grammar mistakes, since WordPress isn’t working to well at the moment, and the text is all weird.

February book releases

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books that are coming out in February, but just the ones that i am most excited for.

Yes, no, maybe so by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed. this book comes out February 4. from what i heard about this, it is a plotical romance, with parents on different sides. but, i’m not the biggest fan of these two authors, since i strongly dislike their books, but i’m hoping this one will be better.

straight on till morning by Liz Braswell. this one also comes out February 4. this is a peter pan retelling, and i haven’t read any other like a Peter Pan retelling. plus, i read a couple other books in this massive series, and i love them so much.

the gravity of us by Phil Stamper. this one also comes out February 4. i’m not going to lie, but i have no clue what this book is about, but i know its an LGBTQ+ romance. i also thought that this one came out in 2019, but i guess it didn’t.

Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen. this one comes out February 7. I’ve seen this one all over bookstagram, so it made me want to read it so much since everyone is talking and ravening about this. but, i know this one is compared to crazy rich Asians, and i love that movie so much that i had to pick it up eventually.

The last confession of Autumn Casterly by Meredith Tate. this one comes out February 11. this is a mystery, so i’m not going to say to much about it, since i personally want to know to much about it.

ink in the dark by Kim Smejkal. this one also comes out February 11. but, this is debut fantasy. but, this is about tattoos, magic, faith and theater. plus, i believe that this one is also a LGBTQ+ book.

the upside of falling by Alex Light. this one comes up February 18. this is a basic YA contempory, where the girl doesn’t have a boyfriend, but doesn’t believe in love. but, she falls for your football boy. i honestly feel like i haven’t read a ‘basic’ YA novel in a long time.

of curses and kisses by Sandhya Menon. this also comes out February 18. i know her other books get a whole lot of love, so i think it is time i read my first one, even though i own her other one. i know a whole lot of people have read this one and completely loved it.

the sound of stars by Alechia Dow. this one comes out February 25. i’m not sure what this book is about, but the description says aliens and pop culture. which made me want to read it so much, since i’m a massive fan of both.

i hope you enjoy this. i’m so excited for all of these books. if you couldn’t tell, i don’t read to many descriptions, just the first couple lines, hence why i do not know what to many of these are about. but, i hope i read at least a couple of these this month.

queen of bright and shiny things review

hello everyone! today i am going to be reviewing queen of bright and shiny things by Ann Aguirre. i gave this book 4/5 stars. this was a reread, which i greatly enjoyed in the end. this one might be a little longer then the previous two, since i enjoyed this one quite a bit.

one of the first things that annoyed me was how Sage picked on each different cliche. she called this group losers or geeks. which i found was basic and your classic high school. this was also your unrealistic version of high schoolers and high school in general.

i hated how Sage would call Ryan her best friend, even though he was never nice to her. for example, Ryan told everyone that they were together as a couple. he really did her dirty, and he can’t be that much of such a great friend if he makes up some massive lie about her.

the whole fight with Sage and Dylan was over the top and went to far. he hit her with his truck and other various things to harm her or other things that means something to her. but, i don’t think Sage helped anything with writing on his car, so i guess she had it coming.

this is not that much of spoiler, since it’s the whole plot of this book, but i loved the romance. i felt like it was cute, but i felt like it was a little bit toxic at some points. they really complemented each other and helped each other grow in a positive way.

but, i felt like the sex scene was really rushed. i think it was a page, if even that, and i wish we got a glimpse of a more intimate moment. i felt like the whole built up of the story was getting to this moment, which was very rushed.

trigger warning

cancer- this was talked about with her parents and how they died

house burning- this was another big one, but it was talked about for a little bit

parents dying- this is one of the biggest plot, this also goes along with the house burning down

anyway, that’s everything for today. i would definitely check out goodreads for more triggers, since i didn’t do it justice. but, i think i would enjoy this more if i didn’t read this during exam season, but i still think it was cute and quick.

the afterlife of holly chase review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the afterlife by Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand. i gave this book 1/5 stars. which is pretty controversial because everyone that i see read it, loves the book so much. but, the review will be pretty short, since i didn’t take to many notes.

i don’t understand how she has an apartment, but is legally and physically dead. it is something that didn’t make sense, since from the beginning of time you need to put your name on the lease, and if you put your dead name on the lease, wouldn’t draw some red flags. it was something that wasn’t thought out that much.

i found most of the characters annoying and sex crazed. all the boys that Holly talked with, just wanted to get in Stephanie’s pants. but, Stephanie was annoying an just complained the whole time.

but, on the positive sign, i thought it was am interesting retelling. i thought it was a great way to not be petty. but, i still think it could use a whole much more editing and just more thought threw out the whole book.

anyway, that’s all for today. like i said, this was quite short, since i didn’t like the book whatsoever. but, i’m sad that i didn’t like it, since there is so much praise and love.

new moon book review

hello everyone! today i am going to be reviewing new moon by Stephenie Meyer. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i’m not going to lie, but i skimmed this book, so most of my notes are on the start of the book, when i was really reading it.

one of the biggest things that annoyed me, and probably goes for everyone, but Bella annoyed me so much. all she did was sulk after Edward left, which was super annoying. for me, it was just ridiculous, since he’s just a high school boyfriend, that you’ve known for months.

another thing, Jacob really annoyed me. granted, he tried to help her, with the werewolf and also becoming good friends. but, i found this was just glorify babysitting. and this just made the friendship feel fake and that Charlie was forcing him to be with her.

Charlie was trying to help Bella for the most part. How i read it, Bella just got mad at him, when he was trying to help you get over your little issue. but, he also pushed Jacob on Bella and vice versa.

anyway, that’s all for today. like it said, this was going to be short and sweet, which I think i did. and i probably won’t read the rest of the series for this reread.

the unhoneymooners review

hello everyone! today i am going to be doing the unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. i gave this book 5/5 stars. i love this book so much, and one of my favorite romances that i read. but, this review will have spoilers.

one of my first thoughts that i thought when i read it, the beginning was insane. the pre wedding, where everyone was in the room was so crazy, and a whole lot of yelling, then the actual wedding scene everything that could have went wrong, went wrong. but, i thought it was insane, that everything went wrong.

this is pretty unpopular, but i think Ethan and Ollie’s relationship was weird in the start. for a good chuck of the book, Ethan and Ollie were kissing and having sex, but their siblings were married. that part was weird to me, and overall made me uncomfortable. but, when i got over that part, i liked them together and thought they were a really good couple.

unlike the other one, this is pretty popular, i hate Dane so much. even in the beginning, i never liked Dane. the whole ending of Dane and Ami was ridiculous. but, i found it hard to believe that nobody knew about Dane cheating, plus all the trips that Dane made Ethan go on were ridiculous.

i feel like Mr. Hamilton should have fired Ollie anyway, i mean she did lie to him, at multiple parts. any boss would fire someone if they lied to them, you don’t know if they would still lie. but, i liked in the end how Mr. Hamilton took Ollie back, once Ethan and Ollie got engaged.

i already mentioned it, but i really liked how Ethan and Ollie got engaged. i feel that it shows how strong their relationship was powerful and strong. plus, it shows that all the money that was in the wedding wasn’t just for nothing.

anyway, that’s it for today. it’s pretty short, since i didn’t have much thought about this book, since i just liked it so much.

the loose ends list book review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the loose ends list by Carrie Firestone. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i liked this book a lot, but i had some issues with it, which i’ll explain more.

trigger warnings– one of the biggest ones is grandparent death. this is the whole plot of the book. but, dog/ pet death was also talked about, and the death was graphic, from what i remember. there is also a good chuck of the book was talking about cancer and seizures, which didn’t sit well with me.

but, this book also is a great story of grief and shows all the stages of death and getting over it. it also shows death in a teenagers eyes, and what they see, notice, and how they get over it.

one of my biggest issues was the writing. the writing was supper choppy, where you would get a chuck of writing then a break and then more writing and so on. nothing flowed like it should have. also, the author tried to write like a teenager would speak, a whole lot of omg, and it just didn’t work well. every other word out of Maddie’s mouth was yoga breath or Enzo, which annoyed me to death.

this is going back about the teenager talk, but this book was very stereotypical way to look and write like teenagers. the writing made it seem that all teenagers are sex crazy and in love with every man that is semi attractive. it was over the top and unrealistic.

another massive part was sex and love. when every Maddie’s cousin came in, she was talking about this doctors dick. she called it tiny and small, which i thought was so unnecessary. but, her cousin would make fun of him, but still was in a romantic relationship.

the next part is spoilers-

Aunt Rose’s death was unpredictable. as a reread, i still didn’t see it happen. but, i wish it was talked about the death and the aftermath more. i felt it was just oh she’s dead, now lets go back to Rome. the characters cried once, and then forgot about it.

this might sound weird, but i really liked how the grandma died. i felt like there was a massive built up, then she died. you really started to love the characters and feel for them. it made everything more hard hitting, and you real feel for them. but, i wish there was more time after she died with the characters getting over it.

this is a common thought, but i wish Maddie and Enzo’s relationship wasn’t a thing. this whole book was pretty much them together, kissing, and then their sex life. i wish it would have been less time with Enzo and more family time, since the whole book is the death of a grandma. this just took away from the story.

anyway, i hope you enjoy this. i liked this book a lot, even though i had some issues with it. there will be a new post on the January 9, with another fun review.

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the January book releases. i’m going to try to  do this every month. also, i don’t think any of these books are on my tbr, since my library has them a month late, but i’d want to read most of these in February.

dark and deepest red by Anna-Marie Mclemore. This book is releases Jan. 14. the book is about a sickness that swept threw the land. this also kinda reminds me of the dirty dancing, since there is some parts about a boy and girl  dancing. but, this is a fairy tale, with some modern ideas.

one of us is next by Karen M. McManus.  this book is out Jan. 7. I’m really excited for this book, but I can’t give much description about it, since it’s a sequel. but, instead of a gossip app, it’s a truth or dare game.

gone by nightfall by Dee Garretson. this comes out Jan. 21. this book follows a girl, who has to pick between her home and her dreams. this book takes place during the Russian Revolution.

Don’t read the comments by Eric Smith. this comes out Jan. 28. this is about two teens who are in the media spotlight, via video games. but, they try and deal with their fame, and their personal issues.

Every other weekend by Abigail Smith. this is coming out Jan. 7. this is about two teens who are forced to say every other weekend in the same apartment, while they fall in love.

anyway, i hope you enjoy this. i’m sorry that this was so long, next month i’ll try to make it smaller, or just talk so much about one book. anyway, i hope you enjoyed, and are looking forward to some books this month.
