July TBR

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books i hope to read this month. this is going to be a different blog post, and probably a really long one. i am going to be doing three different read a thons, not including the reading rush. so, i’ll break down each prompt and what i’ll read from both.

PIXAR READ A THON-

TOY STORY- read a middle grade

for this one, i’m going to go with the stitchers by Lorien Lawrence. i’m not the biggest fan of middle grade. and i’m not even sure if this would be considered a middle grade or a children’s book. but, it does give me some goosebumps vibes, which is kinda making me lean to children books. but, i’m still pretty excited.

FINDING NEMO- found family trope

Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan. personally, i don’t know if this book will even fit this prompt of found family. but, everything i found said ‘six of crows’ everywhere, but i don’t really want to read it. so, i’ll just go with Percy Jackson.

RATATOUILLE-an unlikely friendship

i struggled so hard with this prompt. but, i think the hunger games by Suzanne Collins. i’m not really sure that this book will fit the unlikely friendship, but i have no clue since i never read this. but, who really knows.

BRAVE- mother/daughter relationship

after ever after by Anna Todd. i’m doing this one completely ironic since Tessa and her mother do not get along whatsoever. but, i guess that does count for a mother and daughter relationship to some degree.

BUGS LIFE- inventions and/or inventor

warcoss by Marie Lu. honestly, i have no clue if this actually has an inventor or indentations, since i found this rec on redit. but, i’ve got this book recommended to me 100 times, so i guess there is no time like the present to read.

INCREDIBLES- fighting for good.

Disney lands by Ridley Pearson honestly, when i read this prompt, my mind went right to the kingdom keeper series, since their whole series is about fighting for good. so, this one just fits so amazing.

WALL E- dystopian

girls with sharp sticks by Suzanne Young. i’m not sure if this is 100% a dystopian, but i think that it will fit to some degree. since it does have some of the dystopian feels, even though it is set in America in the world today.

INSIDE OUT- all the feels

Cinderella is dead by Kalynn Baryon. i honestly feel like this book is pretty good and everyone is talking about this book so much, so i’m honestly so excited to read my arc. and it’s obviously a Cinderella retelling, but also giving me major vibes like a curse so dark and lonely.

ONWARD- sibling relationship

clap when you land by Elizabeth Acevedo. honestly, i’m so excited for this book. i honestly love her other two books, and this one, i’m just so excited to read this. i’m not sure how much of a sibling relationship since they don’t know each other, but since they are sisters i guess it counts.

MONSTER INC- a scary book.

crave by Tracy Wolff. i’m not sure if this would count as a scary book, but i do think it would count to some degree. since this does have a vampire in it, or something with a magical creature.

CARS- celeb/fame book.

the seven husbands of Evenly Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reed. this book honestly fits everything to a tee, since she is a famous movie star. so, she obliviously a celeb and does deal with fame. and i’m going to talk about this book like 500 more times in this post.

UP- grumpy/happy.

stay gold by Tobly McSmith. i don’t think that this book deals with a heavily grumpy character, but i do think this book does deal with a happy character since they are both being close friends. and, the title and the whole book is a completely outsiders reference, so i’m here for it.

GOOD DINOSAUR- historical setting.

the seven husbands of Evenly Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reed. i told you i’d talk about this book soon enough so here we are. and i believe that this book starts in about 1950ish, so technically that is an historical setting even if it isn’t a Victorian era story.

READ A RAINBOW-

RED COVER-

historically inaccurate by Shay Bravo. honestly, i can’t really tell if this cover is more red or like an orange pink, but i honestly think it would fit anyway. and this book gives me really big the sun is also a star, which is just so cool since i didn’t really like that book.

YELLOW COVER-

the invincible summer of Juniper Jones by Daven McQueen. this book honestly has one of the best covers in this tbr post. literally, it is just so pretty, even though it is mustard yellow, which is normally a really ugly cover. but damn, i just love this so much.

PINK COVER-

entwined by AJ Rosen. this book whole cover isn’t pink, but there is a probably a smoke bomb off to the side, and it is pink. so it will work i guess. honestly, this book sounds kinda weird, but also such a cool idea. but, i do feel like the cover does not fit the description, since the i believe it is a fantasy, and the cover gives me very contemporary vibes.

GREEN COVER-

the seven husbands of Evenly Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reed. here we are again for the third time. i honestly don’t know what to say about this anymore.

ORANGE COVER-

Lola and the boy next door by Stephanie Perkins. this cover is literally so cute, and i honestly love the orange cover so much. and i think that this book will completely fit, and this will probably be a very easy read.

PURPLE COVER-

night owls and summer skies by Rebecca Sullivan. i’m pretty sure this book has two different covers, but this one has one that is completely purple, but then also one with two girls sitting on a pier. and this honestly sounds like such a cute summer LGBTQ+ read.

BLUE COVER-

more then just a pretty face by Syed M. Masood. i am literally so excited for this book. and to me, i think this will be such a cute book since it’s all about a two teenagers falling in love for the first time, and the all there family expectations.

POP CULTURE BINGO

Teen Dream-

THE WOOD- a coming of age story written by a POC-

Felix after ever by Kacen Callender. i gave literally seen this book get talked about everywhere and anywhere. and this honestly made me want to pick this book up more and more. it honestly sounds like such a great book and this book just fits this book so much.

DIONNE DAVENPORT- have you’re best friend chose your read.

party of two by Jasmine Guillory. honestly, i am so excited for this book. i love all of her other books so i am so excited to read this. i think this will be such a good read, and also just such a cute read. and thank you for picking this book.

CRUEL INTENTIONS- book with a manipulative character

crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick. honestly, this prompt was kinda hard to pick a book with a manipulative character. but, i do think Patch will fit with a manipulative character since he does play with Nora’s mind, especially in the first book.

GIRL INTERRUPTED- book with a focus on mental health

the unlikely hero of room 13B by Teresa Toten. this book has literally been sitting on my shelf for years, so i guess this is time to final pick it up. i think that this book would be so good, but also very hard hitting at the same time.

family affair-

THE ADDAMS FAMILY- found family trope

Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan. honestly, i was going to be doing Disney lands for this prompt, but, i do feel like Percy Jackson would fit better. since i already am going to be talking about this book for another prompt, which is literally the same.

THE PARENT TRAP- a book with more then one author

never, never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher. honestly, i have no clue what this book is about, whatsoever. but, all i do know is that it has two authors, so it will fit for this prompt.

ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES- a romantic thriller

bring them back by B.A. Paris. honestly, i don’t even know if this is a romantic thriller, but i know this is the same author as behind close doors, and i completely loved this book so much. so, i do hope this book is some what of romantic thriller.

WEDNESDAY ADDAMS- a book with a dark cover

crave by Tracy Wolff. this book has a dark cover, since it is black. but, i also think this cover fits, but also fits since the inside is also pretty dark. and has themes that revolve around dark topics.

the adult table-

PRETTY WOMAN- a book with a gorgeous cover

now and when by Sara Bennett Wealer. the cover for this book is literally so beautiful. i feel like this book is going to be kinda interesting, and i know a lot of people say this book reminds them of again but better, and i hope i like it more then that book since i hate that one with a passion.

TITANIC- read an historical fiction

Lovely war by Julie Barry. This would be a reread for me, and i’m honestly so excited to jump back into this amazing and cool story. I’m going to be completely honest, i was honestly trying to get a book that was set at the time of the titanic or the characters were on the titanic, but i honestly could not find one which is pretty sad.

MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING-  2nd chance romance

Love disregarded by Rachel Blaufeld. This prompt was so hard for me to find a book about a second chance romance. Since, i didn’t have that many on my tbr, and then i couldn’t get into some of them and then i just didn’t have an interest in them. But, then the book gods showed this book to me on netgalley, and i got approved thank god.

BAD BOYS- an action pack read

Disney lands by Ridley Pearson. Like for the seven husbands of evenly hugo, that one has been talked about quite a lot. And i’m really excited to get back into this world and start this series. And, i know the original series has a lot of action, so hopefully this one will have some action.

Anyway, that’s it for today. I know that this is a lot of books, but i don’t have too many plans for july, so hopefully i can nail out some of these. And hopefully i will like at least some of these, cause some of the last books i’ve read i haven’t liked that much. and i’m not really sure how many books you’re supposed to read for the 90s read a thon, but i picked some from each.

June wrap up

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books i’ve read in June. i was knee deep in a reading slump after i read they went left, but, i did get semi out of it with the insider, which took me like two and a half weeks to read.

hush hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. i gave this book 4.5/5 stars. this was a reread, and i honestly recommend this book for fans of twilight and crave. and i think that this was so great, but i do not understand why people say hush hush is the sexy version of twilight, since they like never touched at all in this book. but, honestly, who the hell knows.

city of bones by Cassie Clare. i gave this book 3/5 stars. this is another reread, and i honestly didn’t like it as much. i think the book wasn’t that good, but wasn’t terrible. overall, it was overall pretty boring and it didn’t make a lot of sense to me at some parts. and some of the plot twists, one that everyone will know what i’m talking about, it honestly was so disgusting and just so gross.

the summer of ’98 by Tay Marley. i gave this book 4/5 stars and this one comes out on July 21. i actually really liked this book, and i was kinda scared because it’s a wattpad book published. and i do think that the whole ending was pretty great, but i do think everything was really compacted together, and i wish they took time to explain everything.

they went left by Monica Hessa. i gave this book 3/5 stars. overall, this was a decent book, and i think that it wasn’t the best book i read this month at all. but, my biggest issue is that Zofia wouldn’t have an happy endings, which i found pretty annoying since everyone else did. and i do think the ending was really fast, like it would literally give you whiplash when the whole book is drawn out so much.

all your perfects by Collen Hoover. i gave this book 5/5 stars. honestly, i loved this book so much. this was such a cute book, even though it was so hard hitting. but, i do really like the timelines where we saw how they met and then their wedding, and then what they are doing today. there are trigger warnings for infertility and then a miscarriage.

Sadie by Courtney Summer. i gave this book 3/5 stars. this is also another reread this month. i feel like i have a lot of the same feelings of the first time, which isn’t really a bad thing honestly. i do wish the endings was closed off more, and not just that open to whatever you think will happen.

the insider by Ridley Pearson. i gave this book 4/5 stars. this is the book that took me forever to read. but, i did love this book so freaking much and it was just so amazing in my mind. and i love to see these characters again.

the bro code by Elizabeth A. Seibert. i gave this book 2/5 stars and this book comes out September 22nd. honestly, i hate this book so much and i didn’t really like that much of this book.Nick really annoyed the hell out of me. i also thought this book was very sexists and had a lot of parts that just annoyed me. i did find it weird that the love interests name was Eliza when the authors name is Elizabeth. trigger warnings- rape.

not that kind of girl by Andie J. Christopher. i gave this book 4/5 stars. honestly, i really liked this book. i didn’t know that this book was the second book in the series of ‘not the girl you marry.’ since it follows Jack’s sister. but i do think this was a cute book. but, i do wish we got more romance in here.

anyway, that’s it for today. i had a great time reading these books, even though i was in a reading slump for a good part of the month. but, i still read some good books, so i’m still pretty happy.

June book haul

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about all the books i’ve hauled this month. i only hauled a couple physical, but i did get a lot of e arcs from Netgalley, so i’ll include it in this at the end.

witchy by Ariel Slamet Ries. this is one of the books for the May owlcrate. honestly, i’m probably not going to read this, and probably unhaul this book in the future since it manga and i honestly don’t like that genre, since i really like a novel format.

incendiary by Zoraida Cordova. this is the actual book of the month for owlcrate in May and this honestly sounds like such a cool book, but also sounds like you basic YA fantasy plot, so who knows if i actually read this and like it.

a good girls guide to murder by Holly Jackson. i’ve actually already read this book, and i loved it so freaking much, so i had to buy this book. i thought this book was so amazing, and i really want to read this book again in july, so i can read the sequel, even though i just read this.

good girl, bad blood by Holly Jackson. this is the sequel of a good girls guide to murder. i cannot wait to read this book. it honestly sounds so great since it talks about a podcast, which i honestly think it so cool.

a court of thorns and roses by Sarah J Maas. i’m going to be completely honest, i do not remember putting this on netgalley, but i got it to read, so i should just put it in here. i honestly hope this is good, because everyone loves this book, and all of the authors books, so hopefully i don’t hate it.

the safe place by Anna Downes. this honestly sounds like such an interesting book, since it is about a failed actress, which is always an interesting topic in books, especially in a thriller/mystery book.

his wife’s sister by A.J. Wills. this honestly sounds like such a cool book with a girl going missing and then she gets found walking the streets like 12 years later. and i honestly think this will be such an amazing book.

trying not to love you by Amabile Giusti. personally, i also don’t remember putting this book on Netgalley also, but hey, it still sounds like such a good romance book. plus, i don’t think this book was originally written in English, but i honestly don’t know if that is true.

Cinderella is dead by Kalynn Bayron. i am so freaking excited for this book. i’ve seen this book all over bookstagram and then also book twitter, so i got so excited for this, and i think it that this book will be so amazing. plus, i think it is a twisted version of Cinderella, and plus the girl isn’t your basic white bitch, so i’m so excited.

the invincible summer of Juniper Jones by Daven McQueen. honestly, this sounds like a better version of stargirl, since it won’t be so problematic and have more POC. and i honestly hope this will hopefully be so much better and will work out in the end. and can we talk about how pretty this cover is??? like the color is so amazing.

historically inaccurate by Shay Bravo. this book also has such an amazing cover, and i personally love it so much. i feel like this book just sounds so realistic fiction, and many people will relate to this book. which is something i want to honestly see more.

the voting booth by Brandy Colbert. i have honestly seen so many people talk about this book and i’m honestly so excited. this book honestly sounds so much like the sun is also the star, and i did dnf that book, so i hope i will like this one so much more.

the death of Harry Crow by Leith C. MacArthur. honestly this book gives me major a good girls guide to murder vibes, since the one daughter is kidnapped, and her boyfriend is dead. and there is identical twins in this book, which is always something i love to read about, even though i never read it.

now and when by Sara Bennett Wealer. this honestly sounds like kinda of a cool plot. since the main character finds this future telling website that tells you a bunch of shit about where you are going to end up with. and i feel like this kinda gives me jenny han vibes.

night owls and summer skies by Rebecca Sullivan. this sounds like such a cute LGBTQ+ romance, and plus it obviously takes place in summer, which will be such an amazing setting. and, i think the narrator will be kinda annoying since she doesn’t want to be in the camp, but i still think she will be funny to some degree.

entwined by A.J Rosen. honestly, this cover is so amazing, and i think the whole plot about soul mated sounds so cool. and to me, i think that the book is a fantasy, but i don’t actually know since goodreads isn’t telling me anything.

throwaway girls by Andrea Contos. i don’t know if i just don’t read descriptions that well, but i didn’t know this book had LGBTQ+ relationships. and that the main romance was LGBTQ+, which i just think is so cool in a mystery thriller book, since i don’t think i’ve ever read one.

Starting point by Elle Aycart. personally, i’ve never read a book with Doomsday Preppers, which i personally think is a different thing. since, the state of the world today and what people are saying about Doomsday in the last couple months.

more than just a pretty face by Syed M. Masood. this sounds like such an amazing book for falling in love for the first time and with what your family expects you to do. which is something is so normalized in American culture with your family expects you to go to college and have a great live. and i think that this will shed a lot of light on this.

love disregarded by Rachel Blaufeld. this sounds like such an amazing second chance romance book, even though i’m not the biggest second chance romance fan. but, i do think that it is cool to see how they broke up, and then getting back to falling in love.

the mirror: broken wish by Julie C. Dao. i have seen so many authors and bookstagramers and people on book twitter rave about this book, and i’m so here for this book. since, it is a historical fantasy, which i haven’t read, which just makes it so much better in my mind.

the stitcher by Lorien Lawreence. honestly, this book sounds like the kingdom keeper mysteries meets the plots and creepy crap of goosebumps. which, i’m completely here for. i was the biggest fan of RL Stine, so i hope it gives me those vibes.

the deadly houses by Charlie Gallageher. i’m going to be completely honest with this book. i have no clue what this book is about, since i cannot find anything about what it is about on goodreads and then netgalley. but, the cover is cool.

anyway, that’s it for today. i hauled a lot of books, which i’m so happy about, since i think that most of these will be really good, which i’m so excited about not gonna lie.

Anna and the french kiss review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about Anna and the French kiss by Stephanie Perkins. i gave this book 4/5 stars. this book was a reread. i read this for a blog post, which i’ll link right here.

i do understand why people still love this book and will call this book a favorite book of all time. and i can completely understand how this did influence the YA genre as a whole, and then the whole YA romance and contemporary.

as i was reading this book, i thought Anna was pretty annoying. all she did was complain that she was away from her brother and then go away from America. but, then she’d complain about the whole part of living in Paris, would be so many people’s dream, but all she did was complain and it got annoying so fast.

but, even before the ending of the book, Anna and St. Claire was so cute and amazing together. i really think it was cute to see them together in a friendship way, and i just thought it was so amazing how they acted together and how friendly they where together.

this book did have those stereotypical tropes. where the mom had cancer, the best friend was a bad person, the dad was a dick, and both of the dads being a dick to their children. but, i do think it was still used in a good manner, and i think that it still worked in the story.

i do really like the whole plot that it was set in Paris. honestly, if i think this book was set in America or anywhere else it wouldn’t have the right feel in my mind. and i honestly think it was just so amazing for the book and that it was so cool that St Claire and Anna wouldn’t have all the fun moment together exploring Paris.

but, i feel like the ending was very unrealistic and very messy. i feel like it was very thrown together and that there was no rhyme or reason to the ending of this book. and i just found it more unrealistic to some of the YA and NA books i’ve read. and it honestly just turned me off.

Anna– like i’ve already said, i thought that Anna was a very annoying character. like she literally acts like such a baby and a literal idiot, and honestly so arrogant throughout the book. as someone that lives in America, it honestly pisses me off so much because she paints America in a very bad picture. one of her biggest plot points and her personality is that she is a massive film critic and watches a lot of movies, but doesn’t realize that every place doesn’t have American movies, they have their own type of movies, and buckle you seats, they are in French cause you’re in goddamn France. it was just so annoying because, fun fact- i’m a massive tv and movie fan, and i sure as hell knew they have different types of movies, which is honestly just common sense. and she is just so annoying and so dramatic about everything and anything. she literal was like “St Clair i need you to order for me, cause like i don’t know what an apple looks like.” i’ve never been to France, but i sure as hell know that you go to an AMERICAN school, so they will know what you mean when you say, i want an apple or a muffin.

St Claire- i do think he was kind of an annoying character in the start of the book, but then i really got to love him more and more as he matured. and honestly, he was just so sweet. and he was just so nice to Anna even though some real shit happened to him, roughly 200 pages in. and like he was so respectful like when they ‘slept together’ in Thanksgiving. it was just so innocent and so adorable to see, plus how it grows. and that they went to all these adventures in Paris and then ate all this amazing food.

spoiler- i do think it was so annoying how like every five minutes we got told “St. Claire has a girlfriend” over and over again. like it was every five minutes. and he had so many feelings for her, but it took forever to get them together, and for him to break up with Ellie. but, when they actually kissed for the first time. it was kinda crazy that Meredith was so mean to them. like yeah, Anna knew that you liked St Claire, but you never really said it. and i honestly thought it was so childish.

Trigger Warnings- cancer (St. Claire’s mom gets diagnosed with it at roughly 200 pages in) and parent abanodment.

anyway, that’s it for today. i really liked reading this book. i know that the last two paragraphs where pretty long, especially the part where i was talking about Anna, since it was so long and i had so many issues with it.

it sounds better in my head review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about it sounds better in my head by Nina Kenwood. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i honestly loved this book so much, and i think this is such an important read for teenagers today.

personally, i think this book should be in more high schools, and teenagers need to read this book. i think this is such a powerful read, and i think it displayed qualities that deal with divorce, body image, and body positivity. and it was so amazing book and i completely wish more people would pick up this book and read it.

but, i do think this book doesn’t have the best descriptions, but go past this and read it. i think it is so powerful, and that everything could help so many things today.

i did find it kinda hard to read this book if your not Austrian. i’m personally from America and lived here my whole life, and they where talking about quite a few things that i completely didn’t understand. just the “slang” and the different things they talked about (food, shops, and then their school.)

there is no plot for this book whatsoever in this book, and i can’t tell you about the romance or the character development, since there simply isn’t one. and that everything was just thrown together, but it just worked. like some books have no plot or anything whatsoever, but it simply didn’t matter.

it board line annoyed me that the brothers parents where so strict with the whole “you can’t sleep in the same bed as a boy or girl.” and yeah, i guess i understand that, but they are all 18 to 20, but i think the other brother was maybe 22ish, but i honestly have no clue.

and if you follow we anyway, you know i read a lot of romance books, or books with romance as a subplot. and half of them are added to the whole rom com genre. and i feel like, most of them lack the ‘com.’ BUT, i do think this book did have the ‘rom’ and also the ‘com.’ which i loved so freaking much.

and this book was overall very realistic. and i know i just talked about how funny the romance was so funny. and it was so cool to see that this was so realistic in my mind, and everyone else i see on goodreads. and it wasn’t the watered down romance where they are having an amazing romance and everything is just perfect, where the couple argues, and is truthful about everything.

and i just loved the storyteller, Natalie, and then all of the thoughts that go along in her head. i just thought it was so amazing and that they do talk about everything in a manner that was helpful. and i’ve never seen this movie, but what from i’ve seen from the trailers and reviews, but, i feel like this book was very close to Booksmart.

i do feel like this book would be amazing for people dealing with body image and people that are overly self conscious about their scars, weight, and acne. but then also coming to love your self. but, also if your parents are getting a divorce and i feel like this was told in a really good way though.

Natalie- i really feel like she was such a true character in the YA genre, and is actually written like a teenager. since she deals with all these body images and then trying to find out if she can love with this man, who is their first love.

anyway, that’s it for today. i really loved this book, and i thought that it was generally a very amazing book. and that more people need to read it since it was such an amazing book.

Roomies review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about Roomies by Christina Lauren. i gave this book 3/5 stars. i liked this book, but i do think it was kinda slow. but, it was still pretty good.

one of my favorite parts of this book was the gay uncles. i never really read a book with gay parents or aunts and uncles that are heavily in the book and really influence it. but, i listened to the audio book, so the voices and who they where confused the hell out of me. but, i think that’s just my own issue, not the narrator or authors.

but, i did find it was weird that nobody said anything about Holland stalking this man in the train stations. like people do some weird stuff, but i think it was still really weird that she was literally stalking this man and like in love with him when she never met him. it honestly annoyed me, cause if a guy did it, it would be a problematic book, but this was just brushed over and i’ve seen nobody talk about it.

on a more positive note, i really loved the whole fake marriage thing. i just think it was so cute, and i’ve never seen this before in any book, which i just thought it was so cute. i just wish we saw more of this trope in books, not just the whole fake dating cause i feel like that is really over used now.

i’m probably the only one, but i just thought it was cute that one was a writer and the other one was the musician. and it was so cute how they both supported each other all the time. and Holland and Calvin just pushed each other all the time to write their novel or get in another band or whatever else they did.

on a less positive note, i hated Lou Lou so much. she was just so mean to Holland and told Calvin literally everything that Holland told her in confidence. which, just annoyed the hell out of me. because she literally did not need you do all of this. and honestly, she was probably like that because Calvin was successful and she was a failing actress.

i also thought this was so weird that Holland tried to give Calvin a blow job under a table at this restaurant. like this just so weird and even if it’s just going to be you and Calvin, still, you’re in a public restaurant, like pull it together sis.

for this whole book, even before they got fake married, Holland was in love with Calvin. but, when Calvin is like “i love you so much,” Holland just says “okay.” i was like your really going to be playing those games, when you where literally stalking this man.

but, i do think it was really cute how they still found their happily ever after. i just thought it was so cute that we got this, and that they all ended happily. i just thought it was cute and that they didn’t end in an argument or not even a breakup.

Holland- i really liked her as a character, but i think she was kind of the whole “i’m not like other girls,” a little bit. but, i still liked what she did for the story. it still annoyed the hell out of me that she worked a basic job, even though she could probably get a job in a lot of places. like her resume can’t be that bad.

Calvin- i thought he was an okay characters. i think he was pretty boring and i wish he had more of a personality. but, i still think he was a really good guy in my mind.

Trigger Warning- sexual assault

anyway, that’s it for today. i feel like this is a longer blog posts then i have been writing since i had a lot more feeling on this one, since i actually wrote out my feeling for once.

undercover bromance review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about undercover bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams. i gave this book 4/5 stars. i really liked this book, and it thought it was such a good book, even if i do have some issues with it.

i did find this book was pulled in two different directions. the one direction it was being pulled was the whole romance, and then the whole saving the day and telling this Gordon Ramsey level guy off and that he’s a bad guy. i wish we got a your basic plot, but then also a subplot. i thought it was kinda annoying that one minute you are talking about the whole lets make this guy go to hell and then the romance.

i honestly find Liv pretty annoying. i think that she was pretty annoying and just tried to be bigger then she was, and that all she did was complain and talk about how she didn’t do anything right, which annoyed the hell out of me. but, i still think that she was a very good character in a way, and always fought for what she believed in.

with that being said, i feel like Liv was trying to be the hero of this book, when she wasn’t. i feel like yeah, you did the right thing, but the real hero was the girls that got sexuality assaulted and came and said it to the chef’s face. and it honestly annoyed me, and i wish that someone told her to take a chill pill if people don’t want to come forward, cause they went through hell and now they don’t want to relive it over and over again.

i do feel like the ending was similar to the ending of bromance book club. i’m not going to say to much on it, since i don’t want to spoil to much, but i feel like the story wrapped up the same way.

this book is more serious then the first book, but i feel like this was talked about in a good way. but, i feel like everything was in a respectable manner. it did take most of the book, like i already said, but it was still pretty good and in a goo manner.

with that being said, this book was no way perfect. it definitely had some flaws, but if you can overlook it, i think you will find this pretty good. but, like i said, there are issues with pressure, so if you can over look that, i think you’ll like this book fine.

but, if you’re looking for a book with great banner, this book is for you. they had some of the best banner back and forth, and it was really good cause it was a slow burn romance, so it just added to the story.

Liv- i personally didn’t really care for her character. i think she was really annoying and kinda negative to herself, but never negative to anyone else. and she was a really a feminist which was something i loved in the story. and she has that whole i don’t need no man attitude, which i personally thought was so cool.

Brandon- i really loved how different and not like every other male love interest. he was a family guy, which was really cool and he loved kids and would do anything for his mom. and he was so sensitive, which i found pretty cool since most romance book love interest are very “i don’t need anyone to tell me and i won’t be sensitive.”

Trigger Warnings– sexual assault (main theme and gets shown in the start of the book,) victim blaming, gaslighting, domestic abuse.

anyway, that’s it for today. i really love this series, and i honestly love the cast of main characters. and i really hope The Russian gets his own book, cause he’s honestly my favorite character. and i’m so excited for the new book coming out later this year.

turtles all the way down review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about turtles all the way down by John Green. i gave this book 3/5 stars. this was a reread and i feel like i liked this book a ton more in the first go around. but, i did read this for an i read 5, and it is linked here.

i honestly feel like Green tries to write in a way that’s kinda quirkier and not your basic writing for a YA book. with that being said, it think that Green’s books are kinda heavy for YA and has an adult feel to it. but, these books are heavy and whatever, and then he says to himself, ‘oh what is popular when i’m writing this book?’ and then he picks something to focus on that does literally nothing for the plot and is something that a middle aged man would think teenagers today will like. and for this one it is star wars and one direction.

and i honestly feel like for one direction and the star wars part was literally shoved down your throat to the point it was annoying as hell. i feel like it was so annoying because we’re honestly here for the story, and we don’t want the whole lets add different fandom to get this book more hyped up and so people in the respected fandom will read it. great marketing, but bad execution.

i feel like this is kinda weird, but i feel like it Aza was sexualized. ( i don’t know if i spelled it right, but that’s what google told me.) and i feel like not a lot of people talk about this, but i feel like she was a teenage girl and she just always got close to having sex and getting somewhat getting naked. i just hated it so much, especially knowing the author is middle age and is a man.

but, i don’t know if i ate/eat normal food combinations, but in one scene they where literally eating pizza and green beans. i’ve never eating this one, and i think it is just so weird, and do people actually eat that together?

i did find the character annoying in this book. i feel like the friends and her ‘boyfriend’ didn’t understand what was happening in Aza’s mind her and her day to day struggles, but on the reverse, Aza did not tell her friends what she was going too. and honestly there was just a ton of arguing and yelling.

i feel like Green should have made the anxiety and ocd not as much as punch in your face, like it was. i think it was kinda insane because all they did was talk about it, but it is a good thing cause we need more anxiety and ocd rep in YA books. but, i feel like it wasn’t written good and made everyone that has anxiety and ocd feel like they are insane, which is something people hate. and i deal with anxiety and ocd, and i think this was written so toxic in my mind.

i did feel like the whole the lizard plot was annoying. honestly, i was just reading this book for the mental health rep and the story, not some damn lizard. and like it just pissed me off, because instead parts of her high school life and her relationships. we just got some stupid talk about a lizard and how it is going to get all this money.

when i finished this book, i felt very underwhelmed. i feel like this whole book didn’t hit right with me ans that it wasn’t very developed good, or anything besides the damn lizard. and there is countless stories that i felt overwhelmed, but i never really feel that underwhelmed, but damn i sure did with this book.

trigger warnings- anxiety, parent leaving and death, ocd, self harm

Aza- i feel like she got pissed off when one of her friends didn’t understand her, but she never explained it to anyone, so how would they understand. but, i do think she is really stuck up and she expects everything to go well, but she never does anything to make it go good. i do think she got a lot of shit because she didn’t read the star wars fanfic, when i think its fine cause she’s not into that. but i do think the friend was so mean to put Aza in the story and make the character insane.

anyway, that’s it for today. i really liked reading this book, even if i didn’t like it that much. but i feel like many adults and teenagers can benefit from this if you have anxiety and ocd, or just want to learn somewhat about it.

my lovely wife review

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about my lovely wife by Samantha Downing. i gave this book 4/5 stars. this was such a nasty little book, but i loved it so much, which i was pretty surprised about. and i have no clue what the people’s names are, so i’m going to either be calling then they husband or the man and then the wife or the woman. i don’t think that they ever say their real names, so we will just have to go with this.

this was honestly such an interesting book. it was pretty cool the whole premise about a ‘perfect’ couple with all their shit together and an amazing family and stable jobs. it honestly makes you think about all the couple and peoples you know that seem so perfect, but actually aren’t and have this dark and deep secret.

i know that a lot of people aren’t going to understand what i’m saying, but i do think this book would be perfect for fans of the whole Gregory Yates Chicago PD and SVU crossover. this book completely reminded me of that story. but, with a lot less police and more news reporters. but, i still think this book was just so cool and reminds me so much of these shows.

this book does have a ton of murder in it. and it’s pretty described how it happened, and then all the blood that was in it, was crazy. i mean it wasn’t like all this blood everywhere, but it was still pretty crazy and murdery.

i do think it was pretty cool to see that this book was told in the male’s point of view, and not the wife’s, even though she did all the damage, for the most part. i think it was pretty cool, since not to many books are in the male point of view, and they are always in the female, and this was the males. and it was pretty cool to see it in the males.

it was also cool to see that there where kids involved. they where cool to see that they added an element to this. that the son thought the dad was cheating on the mom, and that the daughter thought she was going to get kidnapped and then later killed. it honestly just felt it was realistic, that there was a killer in the town and everyone is kinda freaking out.

i do think the whole Dexter part was kinda cool. that there was another serial killer in this town years and years ago. but, i think it was kinda weird that they mocked the killing, like a were some weird groupie. i think that its something that you see in cop shows and true crime podcasts.

spoiler- i think it was crazy that nothing happened with the man having any charges whatsoever. i mean we all know that he was guilty, to some degree. but, i don’t know why they just thought that he didn’t do one thing. but, i think it was kinda annoying that he was just off the hook. i mean he probably just acted like the hurt spouse which is always annoying.

this is kinda spoiler, but i think it is so crazy that the husband tracked his wife. like i completely understand why he did, i mean he freaking tracked his wife all the time. but, i feel like they just got to have a toxic relationship in the end.

anyway, that’s it for today. i really liked this book, and that this was a really great book. but, i do think there were some issues in the book. but, i do think that it was still great, and that more people should read this book.

the couple next door review

hello everyone! today i’m going to be talking about the couple next door by Shari Lapena. i gave this book 3/5 stars. this was a weird book, but i like it to some degree. i really wish some of it was different then it actually was.

to me, this book is all about a boujee ass couple that has a baby around 6 months old. but, the horny husband, who wants to go to this dinner party with the rich hottie next door. buuuuut, the babysitter canceled, since she has a death in the family. but, the husband convinced the wife to go to the hotties neighbor party, but they have a strict time to check the baby along with a baby monitor with them at all times. of course, shit hits the fan and the baby unfortunately goes missing.

overall, i really liked the whole someone stealing the baby plot line. i personally thought it was pretty cool, since i’ve never seen/ read anything like that. but, i don’t think it was written good enough, it was so easy to figure out who did it, even if you didn’t get all the info that you got in the end of the book.

with what i already said, i think it wasn’t written that good. granted, i think that Lapena writing was pretty good, but, she didn’t write the whole mystery that great. like she wrote the mystery good with the baby going missing, but the whole ‘who did it?’ wasn’t good whatsoever.

on a positive note, i really loved the whole detective parts. i feel like it added a ton of the story and let the couple really talk about with what happened. it was kinda cool to see them and finding all the information. but, they didn’t do to much, like they did do a little bit, but it was never that in depth.

i do think that there was no communication between Anne and Marco. it was kinda annoying because they didn’t talk about literally anything. and when Anne was freaking out about everything, and Marco literally just sat there and didn’t help his wife when she was loosing her mind. it honestly annoyed the hell out of me cause any good husband would try to help his wife when she was having panic attack after panic attack cause her baby got kidnapped.

the twists was pretty basic and i honestly think that a toddler can see it from coming a mile away. but, i don’t understand why Lapena thought it was a good idea and why no editors or agents or literally anyone before this got published thought these twists where a good idea.

i will never understand in adult romance, chick lit, mystery, and thrillers why we always have to make someones parents/ in laws the absolute devil. and it was honestly so annoying because they are the actual devil, but then they do some amazing act like give money to buy a house or save someone. it is just so stupid. SPOILER- so in this book, of course, Anne’s mom and step dad was the devil. BUT, then they do this amazing thing where they help Marco’s business not fail, pay for their house, and also pay to get their grandchild back. and then of course, the step dad saved the day and rescued the baby.

spoiler- i’m not even going to lie, but Marco annoyed the hell out of me. like he was such a dick in the book, and was like that typical to some degree. i do think though that he was the basic husband in thriller and mystery books and movies. but, what really pissed me off was how he saw his wife take a bunch of shit because she was drunk out of her mind and she forgot if she changed the outfit. he also completely made her feel like she was the enemy and made everything happen with the baby.

Anne- she was an annoying character, but also kinda amazing. like she really kept a brave face when talking to the media and the police to some degree. but, of course, she breaks down in her house, without her husbands help. and i really feel like she was made out to be the villain of the story, when she really didn’t do shit.

Marco- OH MY GOD!! i hated him so much! he literally made everyone else the villain, but not him because his business is failing and his in laws are so mean to him, so we have to throw a pity party for him. and he was such a dick and i honestly hated him so much.

anyway, that’s it for today. i feel like this post had a different feel to it. i honestly feel like i made fun of this book a lot and picked at it, but who really cares.
