hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about after ever happy by Anna Todd. i gave this book 1/5 stars. and that is not even that shocking that i hated this book, but i still want to talk about this book since i did suffer and read this.
first thing first, what kind of English is after ever happy? like i kind of get the whole happily ever after vibe, but the title doesn’t make even make sense. like they should have did like happy ever after to make sense and be actual English. another thing that i don’t understand was why this book had a 4.08 rating on goodreads? like its so bad and toxic.
i also found this book to have so many spelling mistakes and grammar errors. which got to be super annoying after a while. to some degree, i somewhat understand why it had all of this, since it is a wattpad book. but, seeing that it was published and is going to get a movie, it is so annoying.
also, this book is so freaking dramatic. like every minor inconvenience, Hardin will start yelling, and Tessa would start crying. and this just got to be so much after a while. but, seeing this way the series was all going, i’m not like super surprised again with everything that was happening. in all seriousness, you could look at Hardin the wrong way and he’d start yelling and Tessa would start balling her eyes out.
still talking about that, i don’t really understand why Hardin was so pissed off about Vance. like i understand that he’s your secrets dad, but Vance is still sitting down and explaining everything. it’s not like Vance like said that and then ran the other direction. but, i still thought it was just weird that Hardin got to freaking pissed. i also thought it was funny how Vance kept saying period over and over again.
one thing that just make me pissed, was how Hardin would just like walk up to Tessa and he’d just like grab her boobs. like, to some degree like they’re together, so it’s better then it being a stranger, but it was still really weird. overall, it made me kind of uncomfortable, since this just got old and it was so unneeded.
just like before, something else that pissed me off was how there was this want a be sex scene, but Tessa was like “no lets not have sex” but what does Hardin do, fingers her anyway. and this honestly made me more uncomfortable then the boob grabbing scene, since this was rape.
another thing that got kind of stupid, was how they would just jump into the future, and it wouldn’t make sense since they wouldn’t even like say “5 years” or “in a dream” it just like jumped. and none of this had any real part of this, since it had zero things for the plot.
but, i honestly thought it was annoying that tessa kept trying to reform Hardin and to make him into some amazing guy. like, this happened for each book, but then this just came back and bit her in the ass. and this just got so old, since this was happening 24/7 and nothing happened.
with that being said, it got to be annoying that Hardin would use and be such a dick to Tessa, but then he’d go back to their apartment or Karen’s house and then it literally just made everything worse and worse. and it’s not like he says “i’m sorry” but instead he just acts like nothing actually happened.
the whole plot point about Tessa’s dad dying was also so unneeded. like it went for chapters and chapters and chapters, but then it would just end in screaming matches. and i also could not get into the whole plot about Tessa going to her moms house, since that was just argument over and over again. since the mom was just like such a pain, it literally gave me a headache.
then the whole part about Hardin saying to Tessa “lets have kids and get married,” after they get into some big argument, just was so toxic. like in ever single book he was like “no kids, no marriage” but in here it was like whenever there was a fight he would talk about kids and getting married.
Hardin- i found him to be so manipulative. which, again was so normal at this point in this series. but, i mean i think that this character had so much hope, but then he just weren’t a good guy. and like i said that he can never be reformed.
Tessa- she was honestly one of the most annoying characters, since that there was so much drama around her. and i mean that she was such a baby. but, i do feel bad about her that she couldn’t have kids naturally, and she had to go through IVF and doctors.
anyway, that’s all for today! i honestly really hated this book, which is no surprise. and there was honestly so many issues with this book and it honestly makes me so pissed that there’s a lot of people that hype up this book all the time, when it is so toxic.
