december wrap up- blogmas day 31

hello everyone! happy blogmas day 31! today i am going to be doing my december wrap up. which is honestly so crazy because this is the last post of 2020, and this year honestly kind of flew by. but, this is also technically the last day of blogmas, even though it really isn’t since i have my tbr and new releases for January.

home before dark by Riley Sager. i gave this book 4/5 stars. this book was honestly so freaking good. like i loved this book so much. this honestly was pretty all over the place, and i really cannot wait to read more by this author. since, hopefully they will all be so spooky and good.

wrapped up in you by Talia Hibbert. i gave this book 3/5 stars. this book was honestly not that good. since, this book was fairly short, this would have 100% worked so much well as a full length novel. but, this was still a decent book, hence the 3 stars.

night owls and summer skies by Rebecca Sulliven. i gave this book 4/5 stars. thank you Netgalley and Wattpad books for this arc! this book definitely deserved a lower rating, but it was still a good read. i really liked the romance, even though it was kind of problematic. but, Vivian’s family definitely was pretty fun, even if they were kind of stupid. i have a whole review for this book, if you want to see why it’s problematic, just scroll down a couple posts.

the roommate by Rosie Danan. i gave this book 4/5 stars. this book was honestly so freaking amazing. i honestly loved this book so much, since it was so cute. and i honestly loved how sex positive this book was, and i honestly hope more books take on being more sex positive.

shine your icy crown by Amanda Loveless. i gave this book 5/5 stars. thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this arc! this honestly was so amazing. it was so amazing and i really liked how feminist this book was, and how many topics this can open up. and i also really loved how there was parts like your sister was talking to you, which was super cool since i don’t have a sister, so it just was so amazing.

now and when by Sara Bennett Wealer. i gave this book 4/5 stars. thank you Netgalley and Delacorte Press for this arc! this book was honestly pretty good, but i didn’t really care for how everyone hated Truman so much, even when he didn’t do anything to have then hate him. but, the romance was pretty good, but i hated the cheating so much. the app was also super cool, and i really like what it added to the series.

the voting booth by Brandy Colbert. i gave this book 4/5 stars. thank you so much Netgalley and Disney books for this arc! this book was honestly such an amazing read. i honestly really like the whole message of this book and how it encourages young adults to vote. and i really like how there wasn’t that much romance, and also the whole cat drama was pretty good.

cemetery boys by Aiden Thomas. i gave this book 4/5 stars. this book was honestly so good. i loved the romance so much, and how the whole ending was honestly so perfect and cute. and i also really liked the whole family in the end of the novel. and also our main characters cousin, she was honestly such a fun character. there was a bit of fat shaming, hence why i knocked down a star.

a vow so bold and deadly by Brigid Kemmerer. i gave this book 3/5 stars. thank you so much Netgalley and Bloomsbury YA for this arc! first off, i only had a chapter sampler, which was like four chapters or something. this book was honestly an okay book. i didn’t really care for the second book in this series. and this book didn’t make any sense to me and it was kind of all over the place.

the cheerleaders by Kara Thomas. i gave this book 2/5 stars. this book took me forever to read. so, i started this November 5th to December 14th, just for context. and this book was kinda of all over the place, and i never really connected with the story, and how all the girls died. and overall this was so messy.

good girl, bad blood by Holly Jackson. i gave this book 5/5 stars. not much can be said about this book, since this is my second read of this book. but, i honestly loved this book so much. and i honestly love the whole plot of this book. the ending also destroyed me again.

lore by Alexandra Bracken. i gave this book 4/5 stars. thank you so much Netgalley and Disney books for and arc! this book was honestly pretty good, but i still was a bit confused when i was reading this book. and for most of this book i was so confused. but, i still really liked the greek gods and everything in here.

more than just a pretty face by Syed M. Masood. i gave this book 2/5 stars. thank you so much netgalley and little, brown books for young readers for this arc! this book was honestly so terrible. i liked what it was trying to do and what it wanted to happen. but, i found Danyal to be so annoying and he was just so cocky.

the woman outside my door by Rachel Ryan. i gave this book 4/5 stars. thank you so much netgalley and Gallery Books for an arc! this book was honestly pretty good. and i really liked the whole relationship between Bren and Georgina. but, the ending was so predicable and i really hated the ending.

super fake love song by David Yoon. i gave this book 2/5 stars. i honestly kind of had really big hopes for this book, since a lot of people really like this book. but, this book just didn’t rub me the right way. since, the male main character just was so annoying and his voice made this book longer then it should have been. and also seeing that this whole romance was built on a lie, it was just so annoying.

they wish they were us by Jessica Goodman. i gave this book 2/5 stars. this book was honestly pretty bad. this whole book was branded as this mystery/ thriller books, that would be perfect for fans of one of us is lying. but, don’t be fooled, since this was a book with so much school drama it gave me a headache. and the whole mystery was barely even there, which was so annoying.

anyway, that is it for today! i honestly had such a great reading year, since i did read 167 books. and this month i definitely read a lot more arcs, which is something i need to doin 2021 and get reviews up on their release day, or the day after if i have multiple books on the same day. but, honestly this year was a pretty great reading year and i can’t wait for 2021 to be just that much better.

the roommate review- blogmas day 29

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the roommate by Rosie Danan. i gave this book 4/5 stars. this book was honestly so cool, and i honestly really loved this book so much, since it was just so cool and fun.

first thing first, i don’t think i’ve ever read a more sex positive book in my life. it was honestly so freaking nice to read a book that was all about sex, but also not just used as the main characters banging every other minute, but more educational. and it was honestly so cool to see that the love interest was a sex worker and he did porn. so, for one that was so cool, but also just seeing how sex work really is and that it isn’t just easy money. and i honestly loved how it was so normalized in here, which we need more of in adult romance.

and i honestly found Clara and Josh’s interactions were so cute. like i don’t think i’ve ever read a book that has roommates but, i really liked how Josh and Clara got to be these roommates, and have the basic roommate interactions, but then when there was the whole business part, and how they aren’t trying to mix business with pleasure. i also thought it was pretty cool about how they were trying to keep their relationship to work and learning about each other in a more personal way.

i did kind of find it a little weird about Josh’s protective side. like it was kind of cute, but also kind of weird. for most of the book, they weren’t even like together, just like work partners that were into each other. so, i did find it kind of odd, but it’s also just a basic romance book thing i guess.

and also Clara and Josh had so much chemistry in this book. like i know i read a ton of romance books, but a lot of them feel a little more force than some other ones that i read. but in here, they had so much chemistry it just made me so happy, since it was so amazing and wasn’t forced. and their banter back and forth made it honestly worthwhile.

and Josh was honestly such an amazing love interest in this book. like he was always so excepting and caring, and honestly was such a sweetheart. and i honestly loved him so much and like everything he stood for. (but does he kind of remind you of Alex Landi from grey’s??)

and i found Clara to be such a sweet character. like she was so innocent, but not like in a bad or annoying way. since, she already knew somethings, but just never really had a positive experience with sex, but she still wanted to try and figure it out and also help other people with learn how to pleasure their partner. which i honestly found to be so cool and amazing.

but, i also feel like in a sense we were supposed to feel bad for everett. cause like his band was going no where, but then he flies out this girl he likes and then he has to go on this mini tour and leave the girl he likes. when, i kind of just found him annoying cause he had terrible communication skills, which just made literally nothing work for me.

i also found the parts where clara was working with her aunt to be kind of boring. like nothing really happened, so if kind of was just super laggy to get threw. and it was also so info dumpy, which is never a good thing. which, just made me honestly skin those parts of the book.

and i honestly went into this book with zero expectations and i have no clue what it was actually about, since i say a pretty cover and decided to read it honestly. so, this was so amazing to read it and actually be good. and it was just so freaking amazing.

anyway, that is it for today! happy blogmas day 29! this honestly was such an amazing book and i loved the characters so freaking much. i cannot wait to the book about naomi to come out next year, especially if we get to see more josh and clara, and maybe their wedding. it would be so amazing.

night owls and summer skies review – blogmas day 28

hello everyone! happy blogmas day 28! today i am going to be talking about night owls and summer skies by Rebecca Sullivan. i gave this book 4/5 stars. before we get into the actual review, thank you so much Netgalley and Wattpad books for an arc of this book.

first thing first, i found the main characters mom to be such an annoying character. like, i found that she was one of those characters/parents that always want to play the victim card all the time. and also was just to say is that she actually knew all the stuff about how traumatic camp was for Emma, but she still sent her and the mom honestly played the victim, which was so annoying.

i also found the whole book to get on my nerves a lot in the start of the beginning. i feel like it was just so much of drama in the beginning about how she hates her mom but also about how she hated the camp life, it got to get on my nerves after awhile.

i also did find the writing to be kind of bad. like, there was parts of this book, mostly when it was day to day life, it was kind of dry writing. like, i’m just gonna assume that the author wrote this when they were a teenager/ young adult. so, hopefully if she writes more in the future it just is a little bit better.

another thing that kind of pissed me off and also rubbed me the wrong way, was how Emma said something about how she doesn’t like the term ‘lesbian’ and just prefers the term ‘gay.’ and i know that people can like any term that you like, but this just kind of left aa dirty taste in my mouth. since, when you go on instagram or like tiktok, everyone always like shits on lesbians get used as like a fetish and is like a dirty word. so, seeing it in here kind of just made me kind of pissed off.

and also when we were reading this book, there was a lot of talk about how this character, Lauren, who was this bully and predator. and she was just so creepy in this book. and then Lauren is like trying to make up with emma, which just pissed me off. since she was such a bully to emma and basic told all of her shit to the camp and her friends. but, also she like sexually harassed emma and vivian, but then in the end she was like ‘omg i have a fat crush on you, and i’m only mean to you because i have a crush on you :)”. and this was so annoying because emma kind of like dropped her, and it was just made me so pissed off.

and honestly all of these characters need so much therapy. like all of these characters had so many issues, personal or like in their head. they just need to go to group therapy to talk about all of their issues. and if they do, this book would be 100% better.

before we get into the meat of the review, we’re going to be talking about the romance. overall, this was a decent romance. it wasn’t the best, but wasn’t the worst. and it honestly reminded me of those teacher x student wattpad books we read. and it kind of made me uncomfortable since Vivian was like her teacher. and it just kind of pissed me off in the end. and emma got so much special treatment, since she was dating the camps founder daughter.

to me, i feel like emma was kind of annoying. like she honestly she acts like this person who hides behind the shadows and then talk about how she is a social pariah. but then emma was this massive negative about everything, and she honestly reminded me off those kids little kids that would cry when you walked in the bathroom when you where in like elementary/middle school. and also the author was like let’s add a little bit of spice, so she added some depression, anxiety, and you cannot add the whole phobias. since, there is some spice, we bring it up, but we can’t even see it. like they talk about some ‘you need to take your pills’ and also the good old ‘off days.’ but, then that was it. and the phobias only got brought up when it was good to the plot. and then this whole traumatic experience about this camp like went away, since she would like run threw the camp at night, by herself mind you. but, then her girlfriend just like fixes it or something.

now lets move onto the girlfriend, aka vivian. off the bat, she is shown as this mysterious and scary, but don’t be fooled, not like the Cullen’s cause she didn’t that whole like sexy vibe most of them had. and i already kind of talked about how i didn’t really care for the romance, but i feel like it was just creepy from vivian’s pov, more then both of them. and honestly vivian kind of made everything happen, like she kind of came onto emma in a sense. and also how when they were sleeping in this tent with Lauren, vivian was like ‘we should sleep in the same sleeping bag.’ and emma was kind of like ‘um whatever you say,’ which honestly kind of made me think that it was some sort of sexual harassment. then when vivian kissed emma on the cheek, and it kind of made me think about how would it be like if a man was like 19 and the girl was like 17 years old, and he wanted to sleep in the same sleeping bag and kissed her (i talk about all this later in this post.) and then vivian would like go threw emma’s phone and like stuck it down her bra and shit. and when i say she went threw the phone, she went threw the phone. and she was kind of sketchy, and i feel like this just needed to be fixed and i just wished this had better editors or even beta readers. and she also like never helps out with anything, makes fun of all of her campers, and gossips about her campers with the other campers and her family.

so, moving on to the romance and what i think it would be like if it was male x female not female x female. like i feel like just the age gap, since vivian is an adult and emma is like 16-17, aka a minor. and i feel like it could have been handled better. and like if this book was like a male x female, every single people would be up and arms, but in here nobody really batted an eye. and also just some of the actions in this book, like the sleeping bag and the unwanted kissing. and i feel like no matter if this book if a littler release or a bigger book, it needs to be talked about and brought up.

up close, i feel like the dad was a good person. but, not really. like i feel like all he did was just questionable. like for one, he puts his gay child with this clearly homophobic mom and puts her in harms way, with sending her to live with her mother. i hate to break it to you, a good parent doesn’t put their kid with someone that can harm her. and also i don’t understand when emma made this big ass scene when she gets to camp, i don’t really understand why nobody called him, or hell why he never thought it was weird that emma never called or texted him. and i’ve never been to summer camp, and if i have kids i’ll probably never send them to one, i just wish this dad grew a brain throughout this whole story.

and the next thing, is how there was all of this ‘pop culture’ things brought up but everyone was like ????? for everything. like the main thing was vivian’s older brother, walter, just was so in love and obsessed with pokémon. and then all of the other characters were like what the hell is that. and then walter met emma, and she was like omg i love pokémon. and like where were all of these characters when the whole pokémon go crazy a couple years ago. then there was this whole thing of mike wazowski and emma was like so defensive about him. granted, this was probably supposed to be funny, but it was like so dumb and this was just so stupid. and also there was this whole plot about these letters emma sent to lauren or jessie, i don’t really remember which one, and also there was so much talk about how these letters where life changing and they were this conflict, but we have no clue what is actually IN those letters. like i’m just gonna assume that they were about her anxiety, depression, and also the trauma she went threw at camp. but, anyway, why should we care for these letters since we knew nothing about them.

and also there was this whole part about how emma was this bitch to lauren and how she called her things like ‘bitches’ and something along the lines of ‘people think guys are so bad when they shove people in lockers, but girls are much much worse.’ and i was like 1. that is so misogynistic and 2. that is so dumb. and then there was this whole part of the book that gwen was telling her brother and her sister, vivian, how emma’s birthday is coming up. and they are all like ‘what a birthday???????’ and they really acted like the whole idea of a birthday was this insane thing. which resulted in walter to throw a pizza slice across the cafe. because that is what teenagers do.

anyway, that is all for today! i’m not really sure why i did give this book 4/5 stars. and from scrolling on goodreads everyone has the same thoughts of me, which i guess is kind of cool. but, this book is kind of cool since it was a NaNoWriMo book, so that is honestly so cool.

home before dark review- blogmas day 27

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about home before dark by Riley Sagar. i gave this book 4/5 stars. this book was honestly so freaking good, and this was honestly such a good book, in my mind, to get into the whole horror genre.

one thing that i didn’t really understand was all of the different ages between the characters. since, i’m not really sure how old petra was when she was killed, but then also about dean. and i personally thought he was the same age a maggie, but like i think he said something about how he was a teen at the time petra was. so, overall i was just super confused, but i also could have just heard it all wrong.

but there was also so much like vivid detail and creativity, it honestly just made this series come together so well. like i seriously could picture ever single thing that was happening in this book, and how everything was happening and what the house looked like. i honestly adored this in the writing.

but, the pace of this book was so good. i honestly completely loved how fast everything worked and how everything just went together. and also i found that both POV’s were honestly so amazing, even if i did find maggie’s a bit better at parts. it was still so intense and made everything so well.

i also feel like this book had so many vibes as all the shows we are seeing today in the media about creepy houses. like it was so amazing, and this was just so amazing in my mind, since these walls could talk (modern family joke if anyone watches.) and i honestly it was so cool that there was already this massive fan base about this house, so with trying to figure out the fact from fiction was so cool. since this all was so unraveling and so amusing, but in a good way.

and i feel like if we didn’t get the whole back and forth, it wouldn’t work at all. since, i feel like this whole thing, this whole thing would honestly be kind of bad. since, we can find out what really happened, and then how this is playing to Maggie being there.

then also Maggie wasn’t the best main character in the whole world. but, i do feel like she was kind of dramatic in this book. like she was a decent character in this book at parts, but it also got kind of crappy at some parts. but, i also found her a bit dramatic, since she didn’t really know what was happening and then over acting in the end a little bit.

with that being said, i still can see how this book does have the feel about it being the thriller of 2020. or from that i did see, everyone was talking about how this book was the thriller of the summer. and i mean, it was still so amazing, even if i did have a couple issues in this book.

and i also really like that Sager can really write books that aren’t about cheating or someone’s mom got killed or someone got kidnapped. which, is always so amazing, since it feels like they are all becoming the same over and over. but, i’m definitely going to be reading more of his books in the future.

i do wish we got like passages from the fathers book in here. since, i feel like it would be cool, since we can find whole fact from fiction. and i mean, it would have been so cool and just to read some of this book we got told so much about. and it would just be kind of fun to do that.

now it’s time for a little spoiler-

i personally don’t really understand why the parents where trying to cover up the fact that Maggie, a five year old, would go to jail for murder. but, i googled it, and i found this document that said that it is an excusable homicide since this is different because it is a young child, and so they don’t really understand that. and the author could have easily found this if they really tried.

anyway, that is all for today! happy blogmas day 27! i honestly really liked this book, and i cannot wait to read other books by this author in the future, since this was honestly such an amazing book.

the 12 days of christmas book tag- blogmas day 26

hello everyone! happy blogmas day 26! today i am going to be doing the 12 days of christmas book tag. i know i’m kind late, since this was more popular last year, but oh well. and since christmas was yesterday i still wanted to do something festive.

one the first day of christmas, my true love sent to me: a partridge in a pear tree. a partridge stood alone in a pear tree. what is your favorite standalone?

a quiet kind of thunder by Sara Barnard. this is probably not a shock to anyone, but this is probably one of my favorite books of all time. so, of course i had to pick it.

on the second day of christmas, my true love sent to me: two turtle doves. who is your OTP?

probably cardan and jude. i know this is kind of basic, but i honestly love these two so much together and they make such a badass couple.

on the third day of christmas, my true love sent to me: three french hens. what is the best trilogy you’ve read?

the return series by ridley pearson. this is honestly one of the only trilogies i’ve ever read, so i kinda have to pick it. but, it also probably one of the best ones i’ve read.

on the fourth day of christmas, my true love sent to me: four calling birds. since series usually have more then four books, what is your favorite series?

either the kingdom keepers by ridley pearson or a good girls guide to murder by holly jackson. honestly, these two are some of  my favorite series/books of all times.

on the fifth day of christmas, my true love sent to me: five golden rings. who is your favorite villain/ antagonist?

good girl, bad blood by holly jackson spoilers

charlie freaking green all the way

on the sixth day of christmas, my true love sent to me: six geese a laying. what is your favorite world/world building?

lore by alexandra bracken. this book had such amazing world building and it was just *chef’s kiss* amazing.

on the seventh day of christmas, my true love sent to me: seven swans a swimming. who is your favorite animal sidekick?

i have no clue, since i try to avoid characters with animals since they normally die.

on the eighth day of christmas, my true love sent to me: eight maids a milking. which book or series takes food to a whole new level?

kingdom of the wicked by kerri manicalco. the food in this book honestly made me so hungry since it was just so good. and i can’t wait for all the food in book 2.

on the ninth day of christmas, my true love sent to me, nine ladies dancing. who is your favorite kickass female lead?

pip from a good girls guide to murder. i mean, there are some characters that are more badass, but i feel like she’s really bad ass for a contemporary/ thriller/ mystery character. and i honestly love her so much.

on the tenth day of christmas, my true love sent to me: ten lords a leaping. who is your favorite leading male?

Yadriel from cemetery boys. he’s honestly such an amazing character and i completely loved him when i was reading that book and everything he did for julian.

on the eleventh day of christmas, my true love sent to me, eleven pipes a piping. what is your favorite book with a musical influence?

the happy ever after playlist by abby jimenez. this is literally the only book that i can think about that has music in it, so yeah .

on the twelfth day of christmas, my true love sent to me, 12 drummers drumming. what is your favorite book of 2020?

maybe a good girls guide to murder, maybe felix ever after, maybe cinderella is dead. i haven’t quite figured it out, but those are definitely my top three.

anyway, that is all for today! i hope you liked this post and i hope you had a great christmas if you celebrated it. but, also sorry if there is a lot of typos, i’m writing this on my notes app on my phone during christmas.

christmas stocking tag- blogmas day 25

hello everyone! happy blogmas day 25 and Merry Christmas if you celebrate! today we are going to be talking about the christmas stocking tag. this is kind of an older tag, but i still want to do this, since it is a lighter post, and not about a horror book or something. and i did modify some questions since some of them were super long, and also some of them talk about things i don’t support and don’t want to talk about on here.

on christmas you wake up Christmas and you stocking is full. when you start to unwrap everything that is in there, the first thing that you see is an orange. so, what is a book that is refreshing and vibrant, both on the inside and out.

cinderella is dead by Kalynn Baryon. this book is honestly such an amazing book. and the cover is so pretty, but the inside is also amazing. and i mean, this book has such an vibrant characters and plot, it honestly is so amazing.

the next thing in the bag is chocolate coins. which book you recently bought that was expensive, but totally worth the high price?

kingdom of the wicked by Kerri Maniscalo. this book when i bought it was like $17. which, isn’t that bad compared to some of the other books that go for on twitter or hell even bookstagram. but, i also don’t buy to many books, but i still really like this book and was so amazing.

you also pull out a bath bomb. tell us about a book that had explosive action scenes.

the insider by Ridley Pearson. this who series honestly has so many amazing action scenes. and i mean, i loved these books so much. this is honestly one of the only action books i like, and can behind and always really like it.

next is a pack of playing cards. which series won you over?

the heartstoppers by Alice Oseman. i honestly really love this whole series and i was so scared to read this book. and i’m not a big graphic novel fan, but this series honestly was so amazing and all the characters made me so happy. and i feel like i was so thrown off, since it is a graphic novel.

you also get a candle. which character is a symbol of hope in there story?

charlie green from good girl, bad blood by Holly Jackson. this can be kind of controversial, but i feel like he’s a symbol of hope for Pip in this book. like, to me, with Pip going to him and how they had their little talk on the porch, it honestly made so much happen.

there are socks inside too. is there a book that you think really encompasses all the distinctive tropes of its genre?

the roommates by Rosie Danan. i feel like this has all the basic romance tropes and how all the characters are, it’s honestly kind of cliché. but this book is honestly so good, but it does have the whole good girl, but also the ‘bad boy’ type. this book honestly worked so well with the tropes, and wasn’t like one of those books with so many tropes it’s annoying.

there’s also a notebook. which author’s writing process do you find most interesting/inspiring?

i honestly have no clue what author to talk about so i’m gonna skip.

there’s also a small bedside clock. which book took you a long time to pick up but was worth it in the end?

the black flamingo by Dean Atta. this book honestly took me forever since i’m not a big poetry fan. but, when i got into this, it was honestly such an amazing book. and i honestly cannot recommend this book enough and i really hate that it took me so long, since it was such a great book.

anyway, that is all for today! Merry christmas if you do celebrate! And if you are reading this on christmas, i hope you have a great holiday. Or if you are reading it after the holiday, i hope you had a great time.

books i want for christmas – blogmas day 24

hello everyone! happy blogmas day 24! today i am going to be talking about some books i want for christmas/ books i just want to buy soon. but, i’m not trying to brag or anything, and i just wanted to put that out there so i don’t get any meaner comments.

how the king of elfhame learned to hate stories by Holly Black. i’m honestly so excited to read this book, and i honestly love the other books, so i cannot wait to read this one. but, this book talks all about Cardan, but this is all before everything happened in the books we all know. which, this honestly sounds so cool, since we get to see baby Cardan and more about his family.

love and olives by Jenna Evans Welch. this is the third book in this series and i’m so freaking excited for it also. since this takes place in Greece, and of course we can’t travel this year, so this just sounds like the perfect book for right now. and i cannot wait to read everything about the cute romance that is in here.

felix ever after by Kacen Callender. this is another really popular book, and i’ve honestly seen it all over bookstagram. but, i read this book a couple months ago now, and i competely love this story, so i really want to get my own copy.

cinderella is dead by Kalynn Bayron. this is another book that i read and i fell in love with. and i do have an e-arc of this, but i do want a physical copy to show off on my shelf. and two, i really want to support this author.

kill joy by Holly Jackson. this is gonna be a preorder, since it doesn’t come out till February. and it was honestly kind of a pain in the ass to find, since it is only coming out in the UK. and as much as i love this series, i cannot wait to read another book in this series.

a good girls guide to murder by Holly Jackson. with the amount i talk about this book, it would be kinda shocking if i didn’t own this already. but, i have the UK edition, and i only listened to the American edition by audio. and you know, i want to have a shelf full of these books by the time this series is over.

sadie by Courtney Summers. this is another book i really like, but never actually bought my own copy. and honestly i’ve seen this book all over my local bookstores, so it probably wouldn’t be that hard to buy my own copy.

there’s someone inside your house by Stephanie Perkins. i recently reread this book, and i honestly really liked this book. so, i honestly really want to own this book. and also, i don’t own to many thrillers, so i want to have more especially since the cover is cute.

clap when you land by Elizabeth Acevedo. this is another book that i really liked and just want to own. and i do own another one of Acevedo’s novels, so i totally want to own this book, but also the other books that she wrote and i didn’t buy yet.

one of us is lying by Karen M. McManus. i honestly read this book awhile ago, but i never bought. and i so want to reread this book, since i honestly just want to read a ton of YA mystery/thrillers right now. and two, i really like the cover, which is a common theme in this blog post.

red, white, and royal blue by Casey McQuinston. just like the rest of these books, i want to reread this book soon. and i cannot wait for this authors second book, and it honestly sounds so freaking good. and again, the cover is honestly so amazing, and this would probably would look amazing on any shelf.

anyway, that is all for today! happy Christmas Eve if you celebrate this holiday! but, these are honestly the books that are at the top of my bookish wish list, and i honestly want to get these really soon, since they all sound so amazing.

in a holidaze and wrapped up in you review- blogmas day 23

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about in a holidaze by Christina Lauren and wrapped up in you by Talia Hibbert. so, this is obviously a joint review, since wrapped up in you is pretty short, there isn’t a purpose to have it have its own review.

IN A HOLIDAZE-

so, first of i gave this book 4/5 stars. this book probably could have been less then 4 stars, but i guess its a little to late to change it. but, i feel like this whole book has people that either loves it or hates it, and then there is some like middle ground, which is me.

first thing first, i was so confused about how everyone is connected together. i mean, i feel like when we jumped into this whole story, it was just so confusing, and how all these strangers just somehow all connected. and like half way threw the book we eventually got everything sorted out, but that was like half way threw the book, and just was annoying.

i also was so annoyed about how Mae was getting with Andrew, which was so predictable. and it was kind of annoying because she was like ‘i’ve loved Andrew since i was 13.’ and i mean in the start of the book she kissed Theo, and then she was like omg i love Andrew. and honestly this whole book needed to get rewritten with the plot all figured out.

but, i did find it really funny how they were making all of these OG YA book references. so, they were talking about twilight and edward cullen, which just made me laugh. and then there was a whole thing about hunger games which was so funny and i really liked it.

this book was also a lot more PG-13 then their other books. i mean, there was one sex scene, which is kind of cool if your not a big sex scene person. and most of it was off the pages, and even when they talked about it, it was pretty simple.

but, i did find the whole back and forth between the time change kind of confusing. like, it got very repetitive and it was kind of hard to not compare all of them together and how some of them have the same things happening. and i also expected them more then like 4 of them, which was kind of nice since they all worked in a weird way.

WRAPPED UP IN YOU-

first off, i gave this book 3/5 stars. i honestly liked this book, but it was kind of slow and boring at certain parts. and i mean, i feel like it had its moments and there wasn’t that much of the romance, which was kind of annoying as this went threw.

i did find this book to be pretty confusing since there wasn’t that much talk about how Abbie and Will were together and how they already knew each other. i mean, we knew that he was this famous guy, but that is pretty much it. and like it took awhile to figure out that they grew up together, even though it took awhile to them to actually say that they were childhood friends.

Will was honestly a bit of a dick in the book. i mean, he would just say random crap to Abbie’s grandma and it got to be so annoying. i mean, he would just say garbage and snap at her and was so annoying.

and this book was honestly kind of heavy and there was so much history with the characters. like this book would have worked so much better as a actual novel, not a novella. and i feel like it was so much to get into, and it was so hard since it was so short.

anyway, that is all for today! happy blogmas day 23! i honestly wish i read more christmas books this year, but these two were honestly pretty good. and they definitely the kind of books you would want to read after exam weeks or throughout that week.

historically inaccurate review- blogmas day 22

hello everyone! happy blogmas day 22! today i am going to be talking about historically inaccurate by Shay Bravo. i gave this book 1/5 stars. this book was pretty terrible, like i feel like there was just a ton of drama in this book. but, thank you so much Netgalley for this book.

one thing that kind of confused me a little bit, was how it just jumped straight up to the plot. like it literally was straight to the plot, which got to be kind of annoying since i had no clue what was happening. and because when everything started we just know Sol is stealing a spoon, but we eventually got more, but it was still kind of a mess.

i also don’t really know how Sol just knew the whole floor plan of the house she was breaking into. i mean, i feel like it could be like someone else the club knew it, but it still kind of confused me. and like they never really said anything about it, just that she was going into here.

but, also Bravo described every single thing that was happening in this book. like every single little thing was described in so much detail, and it just got to be kind of annoying. like, there was so much talk about what her bike was, her bedspread, her cat, and hell even her computer breaking was in so much detail it got to be annoying.

with that being said, we got so much detail about the non important things, but then something like her mom being deported, which was talked about a ton, it was like three sentences. which, is so annoying, since it is a central plot thing, not just something stupid like her laptop.

and she also had so many thoughts. like so freaking many, and it got to be annoying after awhile. and of course, she never had anything good to say, only the boring and stupid crap. (i.e. all the talk about her laptop and how she wants to eat a muffin.)

one thing that rubbed me the wrong way, and got to be so gross the first time this happened. which, was our love interest kept dead-naming and misgendering. and, there of course can be two sides of this argument, one that the author did it or two that it was the characters. which, i’ve seen both of them. and i personally think it is so annoying that people are like brushing this off since the characters did this, not actually the author, even though the author wrote it. this also happened more then once, like 7 times, and it was so gross.

look, i like a good book with some lgbtqia+ characters and also a diverse cast of characters, but in here they are so flat and just annoying. and like most of the non white characters in books they grow and just talk about how they aren’t white and how they are comfortable. which, we didn’t get or anything close to it. and the same thing with our transgender character, it was just misgendering over and over and over again, which doesn’t sit right with me honestly.

but the pace was also crap. like we got pages and pages of the smallest details, which honestly just let me skim pages and pages and pages of this book, since this book was honestly so boring. and there also was so much that got repeated over and over and over again, which was just so annoying, since we got this the first time, we don’t need it 50 times.

the whole plot of these books were all about this history club. like you’d expect a history club to talk about history, it was just the character doing stupid crap that was just so boring. and like all they did was jump of buildings and stealing spoons. and then the Black love interest, Ethan, who is talking about not wanting to do anything risky, since he is Black and he doesn’t want the police to find out since he doesn’t want to be killed. but, then all of the characters were like oh well we don’t care.

but, then in the end of the novel the club gets reported to the school board and/or the police. and all of the characters were like straight up crying cause they were SO surprised. like, you are doing illegal crap, so of course the police are gonna talk this seriously. and look into you and going to take down your ‘club.’ and this honestly cannot be that much of a surprise to anyone.

i also didn’t really care for the romance. it honestly kind of annoying, since it had nothing to do with the plot. and i mean, this book was about finding yourself and the stupid club, do the romance did nothing for me, and should have just been cut out.

anyway, that’s all for today! happy blogmas day 22! thank you so much netgalley for this arc, even if i didn’t really like it. and of course, all my opinion are my own.

crazy stupid bromance- blogmas day 21

hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about crazy stupid bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams. i gave this book 2/5 stars. this book was honestly kind of bad, and i was so disappointed, since i kind of liked these other books. but, i will still read the rest of the series, since i’m to invested not to.

i also kind of thought this book writing was overall pretty bad. i feel like a lot of this book had more telling then showing. and this might have just been me, since i’m kind of in a slump when i was reading this book. but, i just found this writing in this book to be bad, worst then the other books in this series.

as a little side note, there is this Karen in this book. and whenever she came in, it was honestly one of the funniest things in the world. since, she was such a complete bitch, and just made everything so much better. and it was even better since her name in the book was Karen, and she was an actual Karen.

but, this book also had so much unneeded family drama. like the whole plot of this book was dealing with family drama. and this was honestly so boring, since none of this dealt with the romance plot line. and it just made me so bored, since this just had so much family drama again and again.

and also since there was so much family drama, it kind of made me a little bit uncomfortable. since, the dad and Alexis’ half sister pretty much just used her for an organ. and they just found her after the dad was dying. and overall, this had potential, but also this could have just been used so much better. especially if Alexis isn’t so much of a pushover.

since this book was part of a series but also since Noah and Alexis were already friends, it was hard to connect to this story and these characters. and since they went into this book with already so many built up feelings, it was so hard to feel anything towards these two. and i mean, we couldn’t even seen anything happening, like them growing in their feelings. but, anyway this book didn’t even focus on the romance, just the unneeded family drama.

but, this book just let me to have some issues with the bromance club. since, in the start of the book Noah was like “i don’t really want to have sex with Alexis yet.” but, the guys honestly just tried to push him to have sex, even though he didn’t really want to have sex with her at this point. and it just made me uncomfortable, since if Noah didn’t want to have sex with Alexis yet, he doesn’t have to have sex and definitely to be looked at as a fool.

there was also this whole part about sexual assault in the book prior to this book with Liv. and one of the victims is our main character, Alexis, in this book. which, i kind of expected to have a lot of parts about her sexual assault and her going to court or something. instead, we got barely anything, only like one little yoga class for survivors. and i just wish we got more about this, since it was a very central topic in book 2.

and i mean i thought it was kind of annoying how they would just jump time periods. it wasn’t like months and months, but maybe a week and/or a couple days. and i feel like it was kind of annoying, since when you were reading it was just so weird since these chucks of times you would never know what is happening.

also, every single thing that happened in this book was dragged out so freaking much. and i mean, i feel like this whole book had issues that could be resolved in a good solid 10 minutes, but instead it took days to get threw, which obviously is annoying.

and there was honestly so many subplots and sub characters in this book. which, just got to be so annoying after a while. like just forgetting the whole family plot, there was so many plots. and i mean, there was just so much crap that was going on. which, was not the right way to go for this author.

another thing, i honestly did not like the whole sex scenes. i mean, i think it was just so gross, and i honestly it wasn’t that good. and some of the scenes weren’t even that good. like, book one definitely had way better sex, and this book had kind of uncomfortable sex scenes.

this is kind of a spoiler, but this was just kind of weird. but there was this quote in the book that was ‘Noah’s penis was known as a “magic wand” and he made Alexis say the “magic word” before having sex, which was “Abracadabra.” look, i read a bit of adult romance, but that honestly made me pretty uncomfortable, since it was just so weird, even if i was supposed to be funny or something.

Alexis- she had so much potential in this book to grow and be a better character. but, she was honestly so bad. like, whenever something bad would happen to her, she just rolled over like the dog, or whatever that quote is. and it honestly was so bad, and really annoyed me.

Noah- i feel like he was a decent character, like he wasn’t the best, but also wasn’t the worst. and i mean, i feel like he could have held his ground so much better then he actually did. and he was kind of a pushover at some different points.

anyway, that is all for today! happy blogmas day 21! i honestly was so disappointed, since a lot of this book has like 4/5 stars ratings, and the average rating for this book is like 4.0, and i honestly hated this, if you couldn’t tell.
