hello everyone! today i am going to be talking about the unofficial Disney parks cookbook by Ashley Craft and also haunted mansion comic by Sina Grace. these are two shorter books, and i don’t have a lot of different opinions them, so i just combined them. and also they are shorter books and both disney so.
THE UNOFFICIAL DISNEY PARKS COOKBOOK-
first off, thank you so much Netgalley for giving me this ARC! i gave this book 3/5 stars. but, i also have no clue about how to talk and review a cookbook, so we’re just gonna guest our wat throughout this review.
one thing i really liked was that there was a lot of talk about how every park has their own different foods and drinks and how they all play together in the parks. which, i personally thought was kind of cool. and as someone that has been to the parks a ton, i overall really liked this.
but, on the other hand, i feel like everything kind of mansplained. since, this is one thing that they would talk about how everything worked, and it just didn’t rub me right. and assuming if you are picking up this book, you probably know a lot about the disney parks, so this just rubbed me the wrong way.
and all of the parts that were like paragraphs, i could have easily googled. but, i do appreciate what it was trying to do. but, it just got info dumby and i think that this book was trying to do something profound, but it honestly didn’t even work that well.
but needless to say, i really think that this book would be good to fans of disney. and i’m not a big cookbook fan, and i never really know how to talk about a cookbook. but, i feel like a lot of people will like this, if their trip got canceled because of covid, or just a big disney fan in general, you’ll probably like this.
HAUNTED MANSION-
so, off the bat, i have this book 4/5. this was honestly so cute, and i really liked this book. and i honestly flew threw this. probably because it was a graphic novel and also the drawing were so cute.
first thing first, i feel like this book is so good for kids when they are going to disney the first time or even if they’ve been there a ton. it honestly would work either way, and i honestly would have killed to read this when i was younger. since, the whole plot fit the ride so well and i honestly really liked it.
and i also really thought the art work was so cute. i mean, it was just so adorable to look at. and it also really added to the story, which was honestly so good. and just to see all the characters drawn out, it was so cute. and it made me so happy just to see those.
on the other hand, i feel like this story had a lot of unexplained things happening in it. like, there were just some parts were i was like, what the hell is happening or just things that weren’t that explained. and just Sydney’s whole job just didn’t make sense, since i didn’t know if she was a ghost or something. and it just overall needed to be explained a bit better. and i don’t really know how she can be an adult, since she looked like a child in the drawings, or at the very least a teenager.
it was also cool to see the rides and the characters up close. it just was so cool to see how different these characters look from one another and also how cute they looked. but, they could be a little scarier, but whatever. and it was just so fun to see everyone from the ride in this book.
anyway, that is it for today! happy blogmas day 16! like i said, this was a shorter review, since they are smaller books. but, i still really liked these books, and that these were just so cool and cute. and these would honestly be such a great book for christmas or a birthday for a disney lover.
